^ id assume the doors open inwards, the (possibly unintentional) perspective of the black bar on the door in panel 1 makes it look like it's opened inwards. dirt coulve pushed it open (with his tail or a foot) then reached in and grabbed the doorknob with his tail after pushing it open a bit.
im looking way too far into this lol
