An Empress is what happens to a Duchess
if she breeds with a Duke and they become a breeding pair, the two will undergoing an metamorphosis over time together, the most obvious changes is they will nearly triple their original size of a Duke and Duchess, this takes about 100 years before the pair reaches their full size.

in beginning the young Empress is still small and only able to lay a about a dozen eggs every 6 months, but as time passes and her metamorphosis progresses, she start laying a few hundred eggs in a shorter amount of time, once the Empress reaches her full development, she is capable of laying 2,000 eggs in a single day.

In a year time a fully developed Empress can lay 70,000 eggs, just a start to a small empire...

An Empress main function is reproducing eggs, as long as her Emperor keep her fertile from time to time, she will continue to lay eggs adding numbers to their empire...

Empress body is much different than a Duchess, a Duchess will only have 1 compartment where her eggs can be fertile and develop as an Empress will have four and is able to keep them on rotation so as one cluster of eggs is ready to be laid the next batch is already in the oven, meaning the Empress is literally an egg-laying factory, a fully developed Empress will spend 90% of her life pregnant and laying eggs

The majority of the eggs lade will be drones, wingless males that walk on two feet much like a raptor, drones makeup for charity of the empire they are used as scouts, hunting parties, and warriors ( more on this in the lore on drones) the drones only stand about 6 feet tall.

There is a second set of drones but smaller in numbers and are female, these ones are called ,handmaidens' handmaidens are wingless but are capable of walking on all fours, unlike the Male who go outside empires Fortress handmaidens never leave and stay within the Fortress, their role is to clean and repair anything within the Fortress, their other roles is preparing any of the food the male drones bring back.

There is another variety of handmade in called 'nursemaids' nursemaids will spend their entire time tending to the needs of the Empress and her eggs.

Once a Empress lay her an egg a nursemaid will take it to the nursery we're she and the other nursemaids will look after it.

After laying her eggs the Empress won't have much to do with eggs, the nursemaids take care of them until they hatch and continue to take care of the hatchlings until they reach maturity and then the Empress will start giving them orders

The Empress controller drones by two methods, sound and releasing pheromones from her body, both are crucial to a drones livelihood

The impress produces a pheromone that stimulates the drones brain and without this pheromone the drones mind started to break down causing its other organs to shut down to were they eventually die.

A drone can go about a month without being exposed to their mothers pheromones before symptoms of the breakdown start happening, after a month they only have about two weeks before they die

The impress orders her drones by using different frequencies from her five vocal cords, some of the sounds are so low human ears can't hear them and many others species but the sound can travel for miles.

The vampiric Nethersglade have large ears so they can easily pick up these frequencies and communicate long distance

The Empress mass amount of food to keep her and her offspring healthy and just like their name suggests they are vampiric, meaning they drink blood... however because of the Empress masses size the average thing her drones bring her is about human size, if her victims lucky the Empress will chew her victim but more times than not she will swallow her prey whole and still alive...a fully mature Empress can consume 200 adult humans in a single day, thankfully they are not as picky eaters as duchesses and will eat pretty much anything her drones and mate bring her, as long as its living she be happy to eat it...

An Empress is still vampiric And if her drones or mate bring her something big enough she will suck the blood out of her victim and then let her drones have the carcass to eat
