This has been something I jump around with a lot since I join colors, but I'm taking them back to their roots, I always imagined the Fairfin could live a very long life time as long as the stay around the pool of memories, as their sole purpose in life is to bond with a someone else.
Once a Fairfin bonds with an individual the Fairfin will match their lifespan to that person, so the Fairfin life expectancy is the same as the one their bond with. If that person dies so does the Fairfin, this is with natural death
However with premature death of their bond partner, it is possible for a Fairfin to form a bond with someone else before they die but they have to do this before they die, they start slowly dying after their link with their partner is cut
Question: -are there any special diseases that can affect them, Nightmare Syndrome aside?
Answer: yes There are actually diseases a Fairfin can get, however most Fairfin are very healthy, Fairfin act like a filter for their bond partner, they connect with their Partners life force and provide them with higher immune system in-depth ability to new environments, it's why out of all my species Dreamer are the most versatile in adapting to other worlds, the Fairfin act like a filter taking in what could be harmful to their partner health, the same work the other way around, when going to a new world anything harmful on the Dreamer the Fairfin filters so they don't accidentally spread something to the new world.
But it is possible for a Fairfin to get sick, not getting enough light magic will make the Fairfin immune system weak, though they're are rare there are poisons that affect Fairfins ( I was actually going to show this in the early Skey but never had the chance to put it in )
Some of the diseases a Fairfin can get affected them physically, making them sick, lower levels are more like colds or the flu but severe one can affect their senses, making them blind, mute, deaf.
Some diseases even affect their other since, like ability to teleport, messing with their senses that translates for their partner, hindering their ability to keep their partner healthy, monitor their partners light levels...
Fairfin are pretty much life support systems for Dreamers, keeping them healthy in what ever world they go to
Question: Can Fairfin be born mute, deaf, blind etc?
Answer: yes
It is actually possible for a Fairfin to be born with disabilities, Fairfin were made as a desperate attempt to save the Dreamer species from certain Extinction, it was very rush and many obstacles stood in the princes way, meaning the Fairfin were not fully completed...they can keep the nightmare curse torment but they cannot remove it, not like they were intended to do...and because the Fairfin were not fully completed once in awhile some will be born with defects.
Another thing that can make a Fairfin born with disabilities is when something likely happened to the pool of memories they were born from, something tainted it or disturbed the level of magic flow to the pool.
Question: Are their wings fragile? Can they regrow them
Answer: no, yes
Fairfin wings are surprisingly resilient, there pretty Hardy, a Fairfin can fly though strong winds that would normally keep a creature there size grounded or push around by the wind ( but really strong winds will push them around)
Fairfin well actually use their wings to help them swim, Fairfin love water and are great swimmers -
However it is possible to damage or RIP a Fairfin wings, if it's a minor wound the Fairfin can heal on their own but if it's a severe injury like a wing get ripped off or cut to the point they can not fly, they will need to be returned to the pool of memories to heal.
A pool of memories can help a Fairfin regrow their wings or heal a severely damaged one
Now I wonder, if I'm allowed to ask more questions xD : Can the Pool of Memories heal a Fairfin's severe wounds, scars, sicknesses, and physical losses? How did the Pool of Memories first start existing?
