also is it bad i think that cueball's paper bag (face hiding or /actually his/her/their/idk's face?) is cute? lol

if you can look at predators (you know, the movie ones-- those alien monsters) and find them a bit cute... nothing else is gonna be scary to you if it's got the slightest hint of inspiration from an arthropod's face/features lol

im messed up i tell ya lmao

if weird (hostile) buggy looking aliens ever came to earth id probably end up being killed by one because id be like "AWWW BIG BUGGO!! /CUTE LITTLE (but probably not actually little) FRIEND/"

that or id end up being one of the few to befriend them if they react to me the way bugs tend to, which is be more tolerant of me than other folks. stuff that bites or stings everyone else lets me handle & even pet it lol

also cueball's face isn't normal lol
it's got several issues that tend to the case of him not being cute

lmao im indeed a weird one

& i can see why youd find bug legs pretty creepy. heck, as a kid i was terrified of the small species of flatbacked millipedes that are in NC and probably much of the southeast (i cant remember the exact species' name at the moment ghhh)

it was mainly because of my mom telling me something like "if you mess with them their legs will fall off" and my crazy kid mind legit thought that if you handled one, their legs would come off & /stick to you/ while the millipede's body floated on as if it had a bunch of invisible legs carrying it along. (what the actual f**k, kid me)

my poor mom tried telling me all kinds of stuff like "it'll bite/sting you!" to keep me from messing with bugs as a /little/ kid and although i dont remember doing it at all, i told her stuff like "he wont bite me, he likes me!"

now she and i often joke that i mustve been right since i almost /never/ get bit or stung by anything, even apparently aggressive species like centipedes lol

^ like, ill hear my parents or either of my brothers talk about a bug that theyve been bitten by many times in the past and im thinking "wait, they bite humans?! theyve never bit me" to myself.

and i always see and hear people talking about how wasps are total a-holes but they never do anything to me, some will even land on me for a moment then take off. last year i had at least two to three different injured male wasps (wings were messed up & none could fly) apparently seek me out & climb up my legs while i were outside.

the first one i didnt examine closely, i found him crawling up my leg, i got him off and put him on some plant or something (i forgot) but a couple weeks? later /another one/ (idk if he was the same one from earlier or different) crawled up my leg. i looked after him and gave him sugar water til he died after almost a month. (i actually posted an old sketch of him-- poor fella)

then, in september, right before florence hit, i found another one--

--and looked after him from mid september (I4th i think) til when he died in late november (29th)

in november when it briefly got hella cold is also when i found several carpenter bees that i helped for a few days (and one did something really cute when i released him and was trying to get the others to fly off, he came back to me twice. landed on my index finger the first time then flew up my shirt sleeve the second time lmao) but ill not talk about them much since ive already spammed you enough lol. sorry for these text walls...

anyway hmm im curious about cueball boi's face now

if his paper bag bears the tiniest resemblance to his actual face, im definitely gonna view him with that same (weird) lens i view bugs with lol
