iirc, sakurai actually tried to make battle damage a thing in brawl, he wanted to make it where some fighters' weapons would even break (MK for example) but he wasn't able to do it or didn't go through with it, i forgot which.

nice on this btw, i like that coloring! that shading too-- but ive noticed somethin, when you shade the back part of the hair (what's behind the neck. i'm wording this terribly, im sorry) you don't account for the top of [subject]'s head and instead shade the left or right side of the hair.

that's the thing in your shading that i haven't seen improvement on in the past several months, and i was gonna stay quiet on it to see if you ever picked up on it but you haven't yet so i figured i'd go on and mention it.

because of ZSS' body (well, head) and the other bits of her hair blocking out light, that back bit of her hair should be totally (or mostly, with light at the very edges) shaded.
