Lumen had gone to Afai to secure himself a particular supply that would prove useful for the travels to Freia. Although, during his trek toward the remote location to retrieve this supply, he had come across what seemed to be a large trail of footprints leading in the direction of the Afai/Erulean border. This was nothing too noteworthy, but the way they were spread informed Lumen that they were trying to travel without being noticed. This was apparent as Lumen only just barely caught site of the tracks. The pattern seemed to imply they were trying to hide theor numbers as well, since certain footprints had numerous boot shapes overlayed over them. From the looks of the trail, it was an hour or two old, so if he made haste, he might catch up to whoever was trying to travel undetected.

"I must hurry....No band of hunters would travel in such a way....I fear whoever left these has ill in mind...."

Muttered Lumen, as he began following the trail left by this mysterious group.

His feet occasionally sunk into the snow, submerging half of his leg in an icey grip. He cursed to himself for not treading more attentively, swearing he would not make the same mistake again.

It continued to get colder as the day went on, the sun slowly drifting into the horizon, getting more and more red as it made it journey down. It drenched the sky and the almost featureless snow below in a vibrant orange, creating humongous titan shadows out of the trees yall shapes.

Somethibg caught Lumen's eye, he quickened his pace and knelt beside something peculiar in the snow. It seemed someone or some ' 'Thing' 'had departed from the trail of the group. With curiosity piqued, and a strange feeling drawing him, Lumen began after the singular trail. He hoped maybe all would become clear once he found the source of this strange feeling in his chest.

Some time passed as he sprinted after the tracks. his breath although quiet, came out more harshly in plumes of white in the cold. He was beginning to tire, and hoped he could quicken his pace to bring the chase to an end, but he did not want to rush, with the chance of losing his tactical edge of surprise against the mysterious drifter.

Lumen finally made out a shape in the distance, no wait-two shapes in the distance. Upon getting closer, the bigger of the two figures became all too clear. And just as he realized what it was, it turned around and made a deep growl, a warning growl. The danger Lumen was in became all to clear as, much to his surprise, the owner of said beast had turned around as well. It seemed both were now aware of his presence. One even going as far as to adress him directly. His hands were behind him, tucked in the sleeves of his robes, palming the two daggers he was all too familiar with.

"Is that the only reason? If you knew I was following you and your group, why did you not try to stop me?..."

Asked Lumen inquisitively, wondering why he had been lured away by this mysterious beast tamer and her intimidating companion.

There was a moment of silence. Snow, Suzukas companion, made his way inching closer between the two before being halted by Suzuka herself.
"I did not stop you for I didn't feel a need to. As I said before," she started to pet Snow's head and he sat down with a slight rumbling purr. "You are no threat. I was only curious to see who would be foolish enough to follow where they are not meant to. Not only that but you even managed to isolate yourself far enough that no one will find your corpse, that's another mistake you've made. But would you also like to know what else I know? You've tired yourself out, and you've convinced yourself that even in your physically abused state that you could possibly take on whoever you managed to catch up with. That's mistake number two. Your third mistake is thinking that I did not notice your shivering body grab something within your robes. I'm assuming it a scroll if you're a caster, hm.. well no you don't seem to have a magical aura around yourself so mayhaps daggers instead? Doesn't matter really. You'll throw them I'll dodge and Snow will have an early snack."

As if on cue Snow growled again.

"So why not save us both the trouble, drop the daggers and as a sign of good faith I'll send Snow off to do some hunting. Or you can turn around and go back to where ever it is you came from since you're obviously in the wrong place." Her cold gaze was unchanging as well as her attitude towards Lumen. His presence was just another obstacle that needed to be walked over.

(Oooooooh! Things are looking great already! Muahahahaha! >:3)

"To be truthful, I had hoped to remain hidden and observe, but it seems you are nothing like your companions. You are not ordinary. But let us be honest with eachother, we are both up to no good it seems."

Raising an eyebrow at the keen observation of the stranger, Lumen's pink eyes peered into hers with a gaze that was strangely calm in such a dire situation. Her eyes seemed heavy, as if they had been witness too some terrible horrors. It was a familiar look, one that he knew personally. It was evident, these eyes, had seen battle, war. Seeing as she was a hybrid, and by her age, probably the war between Iclios and Erul.

Everything she had said was logical and to the point. Lumen was fatigued, and cold. These two factors would be huge detractors, especially in a prolonged fight. Although he might, with lucllk and cunning, bring of the two targets down. Surely one or the other would do him in. With that in mind, Lumen felt that the best course of action would be to do as he was told and negotiate. There was something about the woman that called to him. Was she the source of that strange feeling? Nonetheless, he complied and placed his daggers in the snow in front of him.

"Why would I turn back now? We are having such a lovely conversation. It would be remiss of me to leave after all the work I went through tracking you down."

With an unusually haunting smile, Lumen tilted his head and asked a question, his soft tone never ceasing, using his fingers to trace circles around his eyes.

"How about we talk about that which weighs upon the gateway to our souls?"

"I am not. And I would necessarily call them my companions, they're dolts. The only other smart one is Snow here." She patted his head again which earned another purr. "Hm.. well who's to say who's up to no good. Their is no court and youre no jury so you're not one to judge what is good and what is wrong. You go by instinct and instinct alone. If not it'll get you killed. But I'm not one to preach so take that and do as you will."

Her tail twitched slightly as she looked the elvan man over. He was pale like the snow, his features were pink due to the cold. He would not last long she thought to herself. She was quite unimpressed but she was not to judge. Seeing that he laid his daggers down Suzuka clicked her tongue and with a look of kitten, Snow walked away in a prowling stance to go hunting as she said he would.

"I wouldn't necessarily call this a pleasant conversation but I'm intrigued none the less,"

She crossed her arms and gave him an uninterested look "If you're going to speak in riddles I might as well leave you here, ask what you want."

"Perhaps you are right, but If that is the case, than your previous statement of my being where I do not belong is now void. But whatever the case, to put it in a more neutral way best not to provoke more bickering ....We are just two strangers in the middle of nowhere."

Lumen was holding up the best he could in such conditions. Despite how insulated his robes were, they were in no way apt for fending of such bitter cold. The most he could do was stifle his shivering as he watched the enormous predator lurk away into the blur of snow. He felt soon even that luxury would leave him, as his body would involuntarily start to overide his discipline.

Chuckling audibly at her opinion of the conversation, Lumen's demeanor became playful.

"Have I done something to make this conversation unpleasant to you? I have more than obliged your wishes...."

Pausing for a moment, Lumen asked himself why he was still here. Normally, his logic would have commanded him to leave, but something strange, some feeling kept him anchored where he stood, despite his worsening contsitution.

"Not a riddle, a quote. I embelished a tad, but it is how the text of old, the text from the time of destria, describes ones eyes. Everything that goes through ones eyes, touches ones soul."

(Okay good xD I was unsure if I had it right or not, because I seem to remember another word in japanese being spelled similar, but meaning something completely different :3)

"Hmpf" she smiled slightly as he over came her logic with his own. "Of course two strangers"

"You seem cold, you're not from Erul I suspect." She seemed unaffected by the chilly weather either by her hybrid counter part of from her fluffy coat it was hard to tell.
"Well yes you followed where you weren't suppose to and now I'm wasting time but what is done is done. Might as well see if this can be fruitful or not. And yes and I've also did my part in sending away Snow so that point is now void as well as we stand equal."

"Destria has abandoned her people so I care not for her texts of old, though it is wise nonetheless the words you speak. I apologize for my hostilities."

She sighed slightly. "You seem unprepared and yet you are here which means something brought you here, and don't say the foot prints were what drew you because any sane person would ignore them and walk away no matter how high of a moral compass you have." She turned away from him "Pick up your daggers we'll get out of this cold before you shiver to death. I know of a place for lodging not to far from where we stand."

(Niko Niko Neeeeee *does a cat paw pose*)

Barely holding back the body wracking shivers that would soon overtake him, Lumen replied.

"I admit I share an affinity toward warmer climates, yes.....But seeing as you are doing just fine, I would say you hold the advantage."

Lumen smiled humorously at his current situation. That smil was quickly dashed by what the logical hyrbid woman said. Instead, replaced by a look of worry at her lack of faith.

"I am sorry you feel that way.....But destria has not forsaken everyone quite yet I believe. She had sent an emissary in her place to this world in hopes of assuring us of her love of us: Her creations. I still have hope....."

Obeying the hybrid's command, Lumen moved his now heat-drained body and grasped his ice cold daggers with his numbed, stiff hands. He was beginning to tire, and strangely, feel as though the cold grip on his body was lessening. This worried Lumen, as he had read more than enough tales about what the body feels like before being condemned by frostbite. With a truly greatful, warm smile, Lumen bowed in thanks to the stranger.

"Thank you, I would much like to keep on living so that I might see our conversation through and get to the bottom of what has drawn us together in such an unusual fashion....."

"I do hope your inferiors do not mind...."

Added Lumen rather wryly,

"When you think of a goddess you think of an all powerful and perfect being. One that can do no harm and is all around a good entity. But if Destria was all powerful do you think she would stand when others like the late King Rutos sent her people to fight an unwinnable war? Would she stand to see Innocents die from starvation, poverty, and her fellow men kill one another. If so why does she not stop it? If she does not stop it she is either not all powerful or rather she takes enjoyment in seeing us falter, making her benevolence not all good. So as I stand she has forsaken us, just as we did her sister." She chuckled slightly "I do not mean to go into my philosophy with you it's quite odd to think you'd get that out of me. Come we do not want the frostbite to kick in more than it has. And my inferiors will not be joining us. They are meeting else where." Suzuka whistled calling back Snow who was carrying a pheasant. She packed it up and looked back to Lumen "Hop on Snow will take us, it'll be quicker." She mounted Snow and waited for Lumen to join her.

(hopefully no one gets offended by Suzukas philosophy it's just her character ;v;)

(nah. just means there's potential for growth. she's jaded and bitter now but that could change down the road. :D)

"Many people have talked up the goddess as some omnipotent thing, but that is just not the case. She created us, and in turn we are like her. Capable of making mistakes, feeling fatigued, angry or sad. She created us with free will and regrettably, that led to our harming her sister. But because of the gift she has given us, we have the ability to change. She gave us a second chance....Everyone deserves a second chance."

Lumen beiefly recollected some of the horrific things he commited in his past during the trials of the Cor et Anima. It had been a long time since he recalled those events, and the thought of them still made him guilty.

" And you know deep down inside that you owe her a second chance. Everyone makes mistakes, even destria."

Walking toward the hybrid, Lumen lowering his head humbly, his curiosity stirred by her command of the philosophical board.

"I have a way of provoking the strangest reactions in people inadvertently. It was not to long ago I was attacked by a priestess's bodyguard....But I am getting off subject, I honestly rather enjoy philosophy. It helps get humanities mind off of itself for a brief moment."

He gasped a laugh in the cold at his last remark, before approaching the massive feline, mounting it in one fluid, grab, hop motion.

"Th-thank you again for not letting me freeze...."

Chattered Lumen, finally giving in to the inevitable shivver of his body.

(I am not by any means offended! It's just a roleplay after all xD Also, it's actually really realistic and fitting of the character to have that viewpoint! :3 It gives alot of depth to the character and adds an extra facet in which one can play off of in a roleplay setting! This shows you have a really good grasp of story telling and writing! You never make the same character twice! ^0^)

"Sure we may be like her in image but not of her magnitude. If she wanted she possibly could get rid of all of us instead of toying with us." Suzuka clicked her tongue with annoyance "I don't owe her anything.." she mumbled under her breath and patted Snows side letting him know to start running.

Snow was quick and dashed through the snow as if it were nothing he made quick work of it.

"Suzuka.." she looked ahead at their path "You never asked but my name is Suzuka."
The wind got harsher and eventually they made it to a small cabin Snow slowed his pace to a walk as the neared the entrance. "I'll get a fire going you may take shelter inside." Suzuka opened the door into the cabin following behind her was snow. He laid out in a corner and stretched before yawning slightly. Suzuka was preping the fire place.

"Calling back to your previous comment you mentioned an emissary made by Destria. Tell me about them hm?"

(I'm glad you think so! ^v^ that means quite alot. I just am careful when making characters with different beliefs due to offending others so I'm slowly testing the waters X'D)

(It shows a great deal of maturity on your part for being considerate of others! That's why your da leader! >3< But yeah, just know I'm pretty much a statue when it comes to everything. I am rarely ever caught off guard or offended >:3)

Lumen shrugged as he adjusted his seating on the mighty Snow, his shoulders stiff and cold from relentless enslaught of the cold. He replied slowly, his mind swimming from the disorienting effects of his body losing heat. Even his speech became less formal,

"Perhaps you d-don't......But I o-owe her......Do you know w-why?...."

Struggling to keep his grip and balance on the massive, fanged steed as it dashed through the snow, Lumen redoubled his efforts and eventually found stabillity.
Finally, he understood why their talks had felt so awkward. He had forgot to initiate introductions. At last he heard her name, and this encouraged him to speak his own. Normally, he would have never considered the idea of uttering his name to someone who had been hostile toward him not too long ago but, once again, he felt an unusual urge to tell her anyway. Perhaps it was that he was on the brink of passing out, or perhaps it was something more.

"It t-tis a ple-pleasure to meet y-you Suzuka.....I am Lumen C-Candeo....."

As they reached the cabin, Lumen dismounted haphazardly as his legs almost gave in under the fatigue. Slowly, he stumbled into the cabin, his vision blurring slightly as he approached the big furry mass that was Snow. Normally, he would be frightened to death of the idea of approaching such a dangerous beast, but he was partially delirious. He reached his arms out towards Snow, uttering to it slowly.

"P-please don't kill me for w-wanting to snuggle k-kitty cat....I am j-just so cold...."

Completely forgetting Suzuka's question, he asked one of his own.

"Will it kill me for wanting to sleep on him?...."

(Poor Lumeb, he feeling bad xD)

"hm? No I don't know why. Why don't you tell me when we get you warmed up."

She gathered the bits of log that were left from the last people who were here. She then put them into the fire place. With a few strikes of a match she got a bit of a fire going. Though she stayed next to it to make sure it did not go out.

Suzuka chuckled slightly "You're more than welcomed to try." She rolled her eyes at him as she watched him approach Snow.
Snow looked at him though not moving. His tail started to sway slightly as Lumen held a hand out to him. A low rumbly purr could be heard showing he was content and showed no hostile tendencies towards Lumen who was still cautiously approaching.

Mumbling a reply, Lumen drifted a little.

"Oooookay.....Will d-do...."

Now that he had approval from Snow's owner, Lumen began his approach once again, hands outstretched and shaking. The friendly purr from the sabor-toothed creature assured what little part of him could still feel fear, that everything was okay.

Slowly, he bent down to sit beside the big cat, an effort that seemed so strenuous, despite being so simple. He groaned as his joints ached at the action. Gracefully, he laid his head against Snow's mane, his cold arms pressung against its fur in hopes of warming up faster. It was one of the softest pelts Lumen had ever touched. He marveled at how warm Snow was, despite it trek through the snow.

"What a magnificent creature this is!....It's fur is.....the...sof-softest thing....Ever.....Just like a ....Clou..."

Lumen trailed off as he drifted into sleep, his eyes weighed shut by fatigue, but free of weariness and worry.

(Time jump to some time later? :D Your choice for how long Lumen stays unconscious! :3)

It was early the next morning, the fire was still going a bit brighter now making the cabin quite toasty. There was a blanket covering Lumen and Snow. Out side stood Suzuka looking out over the freshly laid snow on the ground.
"What should I do.. hm.." she cupped her hands together over her mouth and blew in them to warm them up slightly before walking back into the cabin.
As she waited for Lumen to wake she started to defeather the pheasant Snow caught the night prior.

Lumen began to wake, his eyelids lifting slowly to let light in to touch his eyes and rouse them from the fantastic sleep they had been cradled in. Briefly, Lumen laid awake, unsure of where he was or what had transpired. But soon thereafter, his memory returned to him. Awake and now fully aware, he gently stroked Snow's fur and uttered his first words of the morning.

"Good kitty......"

Staying seated with the warm creaturw, Lumen raised his head so that he was now sitting upright.

(Aye! With drawing animals, it would take me an eternity xD)

Snow didn't open his eyes but the purring started up once again as Lumen pet him.
"I see you're awake.. that's good means you didn't die on my leopard." She smirked slightly as she didn't look away from her work of preparing the pheasant for consumption.

It all too clear that he was very close to succumbing to the cold. His body felt sluggish and and his mind was still partially foggy. He was greatful for Suzuka and Snow's kindness toward him. They could have left him to die, but instead they sheltered him. The rhythmic cadence in which he pet Snow never ceased as he began to speak, smiling at the humor of Suzuka's statement.

"That would have been unfortunate huh?"

Seeing the pheasant Suzuka was cleaning, Lumen's stomache began to grumble. Quickly, he remembered his manners and bowed his head to Suzuka and Snow.

"Good morning and thank you, to my merciful hosts. Perhaps I could assist you with breakfast?"

Lumen tried to stand, but defaulted back to sitting when his body resisted him. It appeared he was in worse shape than he previously thought.

"hm? No it's alright, besides in your current condition you'd be more in the way than help." She laid the pheasant on the counter and all you could hear was chopping. It seemed she was now separating it.

"Though you could answer my question finally if you're up to it. It was about that emissary you spoke about. I wanted to know if you could tell me about them."

(oof I must sleep soon but we should definitely continue this when we can I suggest replying whenever convenient to us? That way we can slowly but surely finish the RP with out having to schedule n junk X'D)

(Sounds good to me! I am very tired too, but I have been hanging in hopes of continuing it because this no joke in my top 3 favorite roleplay sessions EVER! >3<

Said Lumen, returning his hands attention to Snow, petting the great leopards soft mane. He nodded, although Suzuka probably couldn't see it.

"Oh yes, thank you for reminding me."

To think, someone he would normally quarrel with, was preparing breakfast and conversing openly with him. And he, vice versa, was openly chatting with her and enjoying it. He could not wrap his head around what had allowed this be.

Snows ear flickered and he continued to purr in content.

Lumen adjusted his position on the ground to alleviate the numbness he got from sitting on one spot for too long. Replying to Suzuka, he shed a playful smile.

"Looks can be deceiving. Nonetheless, I appreciate knowing I do not look menacing, as I try not to be if possible."

While still petting Snow, Lumen began to speak of the long awaited subject. He felt no reason not to explain it to Suzuka, as there seemed to be no harm in talking about such. Furthermore, Lumen felt that everyone had the right to know about Serah and all the good she had done. Also, it seemed that there was a connection between him and Suzuka that he couldn't explain.

"Ah yes, the emissary of the goddess....."

Briefly he recalled Serah's face, warm and comforting, smiling brightly without any trace of malice or malevolence. Shortly thereafter, it morphed to the expression she had when she was ran through by the Erulean ruler Lumious. This all happened in an instant within Lumen's mind.

"Her name was Serah. Known by some as: The Blind Prophet. But I believe she could see more than anyone...."

(Hoowee! There we go! It's up! :D)

There was a pause to her chopping as she seemed to remember something. Soon the chopping noises returned. Suzuka was listening to Lumen as he spoke as she finished cutting the pheasant. She stuck the chunks into a iron Skillet that was left on a rusty hook next to the fire place. The meat soon sizzled as it began to cook slowly.
Suzuka took a seat next to the fire place poking the pheasant meat every so often to allow even cooking.
"Blind prophet huh? So she could see into the future? Or something like that?.." She went quirt for a second. "A few years back I met a woman in Erul who told me my fate of finding a group of people that would be my savior in both a spiritual way and physical way. Does that sound like something your blind prophet would say?"

Lumen inhaled deeply, admiring the scent of the wild bird meat sizzling on the skillet. From his experience cooking, he could tell with just one sniff if choice meat was cooking. With how tantalizing the permeating scent was, it was clear this was a quality catch of meat being prepared.
His admiring of the aroma halted, hearing Suzuka's sentence. The mentioning of a ' 'Group' ' was what really intrigued Lumen.

"It does seem like her actually. She never spoke her prophecies in riddles....Not in the traditional sense anyway.....But she said your joining a group would save you?.....That is....Peculiar...."

A sudden conflict arose within Lumen. He wanted now more than ever to tell Suzuka that he was creating a group. A group that would be journeying to Freia upon Serah's wish. And maybe his group was the one Serah prophesied for Suzuka. But at the same time, this would jeopardize the security of the mission itself if he was wrong. His discomfort was evident on his face as he battled himself internally.

"All I need is a sign....Please, if this is your will, make it clear Destria....."

Prayed Lumen internally, as his face became pensive and troubled.

(Aww crud! I'm sorry! :-; Seems like colors is acting funky for both of us :o)

Suzuka continued to poke the pheasant until eventually it turned a pale white showing it was fully cooked. "We'll have to eat it out of the skillet since I couldn't find any plates. But here.." she held out the handle to one of her pocket knives to Lumen so he could at least use something that wasn't his hands.
The handle was wood on design and had a leather wrapping. Etched into the leather was a very familiar shape that was worn by Serah and is now in Lumens possession.

Lumen's mental struggle halted as Suzuka approached with breakfast in hand. The finely fried pheasant looked delectably tasty.

"Oh my, thank you so much. I must thank you and your companion for such hospitality"

Said Lumen, reaching for the knife offered by Suzuka. He halted promptly as his eyes glanced over the symbol on leather blanket that cradled the finely crafted blade. He took it in his hands and peered at it with his pink, inquisitive eyes, now filling with wonder. Greatfully, Lumen spoke aloud, his voice gently uttering his thanks to both Suzuka, and Destria.

"Thank you......"

Suzuka smiled lightly and took her other pocket knife stabbing a piece of the pheasant before eating it. "You look like you have something on your mind. Do you wish to share it?"
She continued to eat it periodically making sure to leave more than enough for lumen.

Unsheathing the knife, Lumen used the blade to slice a sliver of white meat off of the pheasant. He went to take a bite, but in hopes of repaying the mighty creature which showed him benevolence despite his being a stranger, Lumen offered the first piece he carved to Snow.
"Please, do join us."

Then he carved a piece for himself, taking a bite of the slice. He relished the fine texture and warmth of the pheasant meat, as it was cooked perfectly through and through yet, not overcooked.

Lumen looked up at Suzuka, his face serious yet gentle. It was entirely different from the other expression he had displayed before.

"Yes....I believe I must....It is extremely important. And I feel as though you will think me crazy, but nonetheless it must be said....But first, I must ask for it has been on my mind since I began following your tracks.......Have you felt a strange tug? Like as if something is pulling you someplace?...."

Snow huffed a bit at Lumen. "He doesn't like cooked meat," she chuckled slightly "I've tried multiple times to feed him like that, he's just picky." Snow looked away like a pouty kid.

Suzukas ear twitched slightly "I cannot say that I have. I'm not one who believes in spiritual connections. But continue your thought cause I'm quite curious to what you will say next."

Retracting the piece of cooked meat, Lumen ate it himself, once again enjoying the fine, wild taste of the bird meat.

"Well, he and I have something in common then"

Lumen chuckled aloud, fetching himself a bit more pheasant meat yet, still leaving plenty for his host.

Bowing his head, Lumen began his elaboration.

"I see, well I have felt it since I set out into the snow yesterday, but yes, on to what I was going to say...."

Lumen paused a moment as he gathered his words. It was a big step he was about to take, and normally he would never fathom it, but it seemed that it was ordaned by Serah and Destria itself. And Lumen felt there was a quality in Suzuka, more than what meets the eye. There was a kindness that she showed that normally no truly evil or coldhearted person would shed. Deep down, he knew there was an affinity for good.

"You see.....Serah ask you to seek out a team. And said team would bring you salvation. Well, what if I told you I...I had a team?....."

(Aye! I am really sleepy! I'm going to have to turn in for the night :-;
