a doing some study scribbles before you commit to a full drawing help.
Warm ups good, just scribbling and experimenting, recognizing the shapes and patterns,studying how other artists do it ect. I recommend just doodling a lot, half the time I'm not doing a full complete drawing with intense shading and what not. But I do try to exercise and sketch a lot just to keep my art skills sharp. :0
(though I probably do need to try and do another serious extensive piece soon pfffff )
