Bowser decided to sacrifice himself in favor of winning for the team on his last stock to take out Isabelle with his side special. Unbeknownst to him and to the surprise to Wolf, Isabelle somehow survived that drop off the cliff.

This is based on my Super Smash Bros. Ultimate replay video on my YouTube channel. I literately laughed at my nephew somehow survived that Bowser's side B attack. And yes, I know that they rig it where players can't use it to take out their opponents with that attack going to the abyss. It will kill Bowser instead and the player that is done to survive it for a second. Characters like Isabelle and Villager, for example, can recover great distances that is if one of the balloons is not busted. A second is just enough for them to recover back to the stage. What makes it even more funnier is that the Wolf player stood there surprised that my nephew recovered back to the stage. I think that the Bowser player didn't have the knowledge that using the side special on your opponent and taking them to the abyss would automatically kill him first. Or he didn't expect Isabelle can recover that much. Either way, it was awesome and he finished the Wolf player off with the stop sign! Lol! XD
