It was an exceptionally beautiful day. The sky was almost entirely clear, save for the wispy streaks of clouds that stretched from near to far. All of this helped as an enchanting backdrop to the majesty of Castle Citrine and its well tended gardens. This was just the perfect day for outdoor frolic. Most would jump at such an opportunity. Except for one. Luxia. Inside a greenhouse repurposed for science, Luxia spent most hours of her days testing various hypothesis for the love of science.
"Fascinating. How Such an insignificant speck could be so resilient. But are you? Allow me to test your constitution."
Luxia deposited a small brown insect no bigger than a finger nail into a box. Shortly thereafter she dawned a safety mask.
Rita stretched her arms enjoying the warmth of the sun. She had been sent on an errand by her village to Citrine, what she didn't know was that it was to get her out of their hair for awhile. Having finished the errand she had quite some time before the ship back to Afai would depart.
She wandered the town checking out the sites. She didn't see much difference between her village and the town to her disappointment until her eyes landed on the radiant castle Citrine.
"Wow, a place that huge must have some wonderful gardens or even better, sweets!"
She stopped short as she saw guards at the entrance. Looking quickly side to side she spotted a tree. She snickered to herself as she rubbed her palms together and made her way to the cover of the tree. Once she was behind it she changed in to her bee form and flew right past the guards, her trilling buzz went unnoticed by the guards.
With a great ' 'HISS!' ' the box containing the bug was opened, emitting billowing wisps of an overwhelmingly foul smelling gas. Quickly, Luxia opened her labs windows and started de-toxing her workspace. After some time, when she deemed it safe, her mask was removed. With the wrinkle of her nose, she spoke.
"Although the air is safe to breath, substance EXT#5 leaves risidual stench that endures."
Without any further words on the matter, Luxia took her perfume and started spraying it througout her lab. It was nauseatingly sweet. Being made of a Honey and Cinnamon aroma blend, it quickly overpowered the previous odor.
"Now that all of the stench has been purged, I shall begin examination of the experiment."
Although her face did not show it, Luxia was extremely happy. Her test had gone on so far without any mishaps. Now with the fog fully wafted from the box, Luxia could see that the bug she had exposed to the substance had perished. This made her giddy inside. It seemed the gas was living up to her expectations. quickly, she picked up the carcass with tweezers and placed it on a small glass pane for further examination.
Rita zoomed around exploring the outside of the castle grounds. It didn't take her long to find the garden, and soon she was flying around the intricate statuary, paveing stone pathways, water fountain and of course the exorbitant varieties of flowers she had never seen before. Only those with sensitive ears would have been able to pick up on the faint "squee" of excitement she emitted as she flew to and fro.
As she hovered over a white gardenia, she caught the scent of something exceedingly sweet like honey and cinnamon.
"Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh, Nivana!" she said after exhaling a deep draft of the scent. She followed the sickly sweet scent all the way to a greenhouse. Without thinking she flew through an opening into the greenhouse.
Rita entered the greenhouse not realizing 'whose' greenhouse it was. She was too busy intaking the wonderfully sweet scent and thinking of what could be emitting it. Her mind imagined pastries. Though she didn't think about how stupid that thought was since pastries are not made in greenhouses. Duh.
She flew around not noticing Luxia grab the bottle and with scary acurracy point and shoot.
She never saw it coming as the stream hit her and she fell with a splat on one of the wood tables.
Placing the spray bottle down on the table, Luxia retrieved her tweezers and approached the table. She thought for second she had heard a very faint shriek. Though she paid it no heed. She figured it was just her imagination.
Rita was dazed, wondering what happened, when a shadow loomed over her. She saw Luxia stareing down at her while holding a pair of tweezers at the ready.
Rita freaked at this sight, emitting a faint but squeeky shriek as her insect legs waggled back and forth rapidly in panic to no avail. She tried to move her wet wings with little succes. Seeing no way of escaping in her current form, she transformed back to her humanoid form, sending beakers and other objects on the table everywhere.
She was collapsed on the table taking deep breaths, her cover blown.
The currently unfolding events caught Luxia completely off guard. What was once a calming day of science had now been turned on its head. She emitted a squeel of fear as the bee miraculously became humanoid. Scattering beakers and various other scientific merchandise.
"EEEEEEEEEK! No my beakers!!"
Luxia stood staring wide-eyed at the stranger now sprawled on the table.
Rita shook her head trying to clear it as she sat up. "Oh, Destria that was terrifying!" Still sitting on the table she made eye contact with Luxia, a long awkward silence insued before Rita nervously answered, "Uhh...eh, heh, hi?"
(Okee dokee! Please, do sleep well! ^0^ And omg yes it was xD I can not believe how fast this roleplay derailed into such a funny collision >3< We'll definately have to schedule a day to resume this in the future! But hey, don't let me keep you up. Good night! :D)
Luxia's wide-eyed stare of surprise soon faded, as her expression morphed and became steely and stoic. eyebrows furrowed into a glare that conveyed all too well her current emotional state.
"Off. Just get off of my table ' ' interloper.' '"
The last word of her sentence had a smidge of venom behind it, as she was disgusted by the current series of events.
Rita flinched slightly at the angered face the small elf girl was giving her. It was like she was staring daggers into her. She quickly hopped off the table.
"I don't know what a anterlope-uh, interlo-well whatever that is, but I'm a hybrid."
She saw all the broken beakers she had sent everywhere and looked quickly back at Luxia scratching the back of her head nervously.
A series of repeated blinks was all thay escaped Luxia's agrivated face for a few seconds as she culled over the dull minded reply.
"It appears this hybrid is a commoner. Not surprising really, as the only country with hybrid nobels is Afai. And even then, their technically not of blue blood. Just merely carrying the status of their mother. What is a surprise, us how dim witted this one appears to be.....Hmmm, perhaps I could make the best of an annoying situation by exploiting this....' 'Thing's ' ' mortal weakness: Intelligence."
Thought Luxia during her moment of silence and repeated blinking.
Quickly, she began springing her plan. She had to lay the psychological foundation in order for her to successfully get the desired outcome.
"Do you have any idea how much all of this cost?"
She smiled internally, as surely this would warrant the reaction she desired. But then again, it might not. This only made the whole sutuation brighter and more interesting. In the end, it seemed the whole fiasco had become one big experiment, for Luxia.
Rita began to feel really nervous as the girl blinked at her silently, she had a bad feeling about this already. Her eyes darted around the room for possible escape, when her fears were confirmed by Luxia's question.
"Uuhh, surely not a lot....right?"
She was internally panicking, praying to Destria that she says that the beakers didn't cost much, in hopes that she could convince her village to pay for the damages.
The hybrid's reaction was to Luxia's delight. It was all too clear that the bee would not likely be able to pay for such a mess, as the equipment truly was expensive.
"Negative. This was state of the art equipment! Bought from the most respectable of manufacturers! Made by artisans that know the product so well, that they know every facet better than they know their own offspring."
Luxia's arms waved in the air emphatically as she explained. Eventually, her arms returned to her sides and she spoke in a more even tone. That is, not before she expelled a dismayed sigh.
"So to say it cost ' ' A lot, ' ' would be an understatement of the most acute magnitude."
Little did she know of the evil, conniving nature that belied the petite, cute exterior of the child in front of her.
Any hopes Rita had of wiggling out of this was shattered like a rock thrown through a window. She looked around, quickly spotting the open entry door of the greenhouse but Luxia was directly in the path to it, and her wings were still wet so she couldn't fly to freedom.
"Eeeeeeehh! B-but my village can't pay that, nor I, I'm only payed sweets for the only job the village gave me! Which is to come here once a week for supplies!"
Rita was holding her head with both hands, her back turned to Luxia as she babbled aloud to herself in panic.
"Checkmate." Said Luxia internally, as her prey was now right where she wanted them. It seemed her intimidation tactic had put the poor hybrid into an emotionally unstable state, of which Luxia could utilize to her benefit.
"Is that so? That is a shame. Tragic almost, is it not?...."
A sigh escaped her lips as she parted a lock of gold hair from her face, that of which looked stoic yet snooty. All the while she let her question hang ambient in the room before speaking again.
"Well, I guess there is but one thing to do......"
Said Luxia, tapping her foot on the ground in front of her. Letting the dramatic pause sink in for added affect.
Ceasing her agrivated posture, Luxia returned to her normal, stoic demeanor. She spoke calmly yet blankly to the hybrid.
"Make a compromise of course. As I am not without a heart clearly. If you can not pay me, and I need some kind of compensation for my losses. So it is all too clear to me that some other action is in order, as squabbling over such a matter will only waste my valuable time."
Luxia raised her finger in the air as a gesture of revelation. "Excelsior! I have a solution! All I require of you is!..........A favor."
Rita fidgeted nervously. This child wasn't like the village children who she had fun and got into mischief with, no, this one was different in a scary way.
She sat there frozen in fear waiting for impending doom. But what Luxia said floored her.
"Wait! Really, just a favor?!"
Rita was elated as she saw a way out of her predicament and not knowing the ulterior motive and manipulative nature of Luxia, she excepted instantly.
How hard could a simple small favor be?
"Yes! Whatever favor you need! Thank you for being understanding and merciful, uh, um, what was your name again?"
Luxia cartwheeled on the inside as her experiment and mission was a success. The hybrid had agreed to her favor, which was money in tbe bank to Luxia.
"Luxia of the Candeo family. It is quite good we are in agreement. But now I must know your name and the town in which you reside. Both of these are necessaru so that I might find tou easier, as I have yet to decide what favor I require of you."
Rita breathed a sigh of relief. And scratched the back of her head.
"I'm Rita. Afraid I don't have a ritzy last name like you. You sound rich. Anyways, I live in a village called Perenia in Afai."
She suddenly asked what time it was as she vibrated her wings experimentally. She didn't want to miss the boat back home cause then she wouldn't get payed her bag of sugar as soon.
"Gah, what time is it?! I can't miss the boat or I'll be stuck here for another eight hours before another boat arrives that heads that way!"
With great pride, Luxia stood straight and formally as she usually does. Her eyes closed in a gesture of matter of factory, she replied stoically.
"A chaotic pleasure to meet you Rita. And yes, all of the above is correct."
Tilting her head curiously at the question, Luxia quickly looked toward the window, making note of the angle at which the shadows were pointing from the sun. Quickly, she responded.
"Approximately half past noon. If your boat is scheduled to depart anytime close to now, I would depart if I were you."
Rita gasped, as the boat ride home departs in three minutes. She was in such a hurry that she didn't even register the last thing Luxia said.
"Gaaaah, I can't miss it!"
She spontaneously transformed back into her bumblebee form.
"I have to go, NOW!" she said frantically in a squeaky, high pitch voice.
Without a second thought she zoomed past Luxia and out the greenhouse door. She flew sporadically at high speed past the statuary in the garden, bobbing and weaving like a chicken would if it were being chased by a predator. She zoomed her way to the castle gate entrance and collided into one of the guards' helms with a solid 'plink' noise.
"What the hell was that?!" said the guard whose helm she hit.
"Looked like a bee." Said the second guard shaking his head.
A bit dazed, she flew past the guards flying even more sporadic than before on her way to the docks where the boat home is moored.

Luxia had just finished placing subject 365 into a jar of some pungent clear liquid when something caught her eye.
Much to Luxia's delight, it seemed a bee had stumbled right into her lair.
In one quick fluid motion, Luxia grabbed, aimed and fired a spraybottle of water that was within arms reach at the bee.
27 Feb, 2019, 4:13 am

"It appears this hybrid is a commoner. Not surprising really, as the only country with hybrid nobels is Afai. And even then, their technically not of blue blood. 'Thing's ' ' mortal weakness: Intelligence."

As the silence grew Rita couldn't take it anymore and asked what she was afraid to ask but curiosity screamed to know.
"D-do what?"
