even taking a good battery out of say, a broken/old 3ds you have would work, thats what i did for mine, i took the 2ds battery from my brother's broken 2ds and it worked to fix the exact same issue you were having

do you use a high or low brightness setting when doing anything on the ds?? i use low brightness/one and have been since i got this ds because my eyes cannot handle super bright things (istillneedglassesreeee), and plus.. low brightness can actually save on your ds' battery and make it last longer, both in general as a lifespan and longer playtimes and stuff like that before needing to charge it
if you use a high brightness, that could explain why it's seemingly oofed faster

if you don't, then it probably does have smth to do with battery materials
