I think the colors are wonderful, if you're on your phone, try zooming in a bit. I find that helps me view a painting better

this is beautiful! animation class sounds fun :D i've tried my hand at animating a few times but i lack the patience and consistency to make anything worthwhile haha.
different devices tend to have different tints to them - the colors on this don't look super intense to me. if you're unhappy with it though, maybe try painting with less saturated colors and seeing how they turn out? i always just use colors farther away from the brightest point because it hurts my eyes to work with otherwise

I can't look at the old one without cringing, though I did try to keep some the same elements. Them back to back seemed fitting, I also like the fact that they're actually holding weapons :'D
I also change the lighting effects of the forest though it's still got those spoopy elements, eyes, and now birbs owo.

Also yes their hair was my favorite part, I really wanted to give it a flowey effects, Hunter's loose pony tail was especially fun, Hawk looks like some messed with his hair.
