While I can't/shouldn't Christmas Carol, I really wonder it was like? The very fact people would come to your house to spread cheer for free, (despite if they could sing or not) must've been a awkward feeling. Unless you were doing so yourself. People trying to make you happy (FOR FREE) nowdays, would make this feel strange, and might be a reason it's not done... Unless I'm living in the wrong place?...
