The fatigue was wearing on him, and the constant output of explosive energy blasts presented death at the slightest mistake. Dodging the blasts was getting progressively more difficult as ally's energy was quickly drained as well. Her breaths were quick and strained, she was on the verge of passing out. They wouldn't last much longer.
Kirby's adrenaline spiked as another ball of explosive energy whizzed past his face. He fumbled with the Crystal Gun before frantically shooting at the demon's large, red eye. A couple of shards managed to lodge themselves in the beast's cornea. The demon released an other-worldly scream that seemed to echo endlessly. Their surroundings instantly turned black. Millions upon millions of piercing yellow eyes entrapped them on all sides. His hope deteriorating, Kirby's mind raced to find a solution. A dark flame sparked to life in his mind. He looked back at Ribbon, he could see her eyes were glazing over. He quickly shook her to bring her back to reality
They'd have to get close first, but that alone was a death wish. Closing the distance would force Ribbon, who was nearly passing out every few minutes, to avoid vollies of explosive energy in much smaller time windows. It would also put them in range of the demon's giant wings, which could easily knock them down with one swipe. Yes, the very idea was practically suicidal, and yet they would have to try.
With her current strength, throwing kirby straight forward would likely end in him plummenting to his death, therefore, throwing at a height was the best option. Ribbon flew as high as she could, careful to keep her distance with the wall of eyes. Still dodging the barrage of explosive energy, she lifted kirby up. From the corner of her eye she detected movement. A horde of eyes detached from the wall and were heading their way. With no time for goodbyes, Ribbon threw Kirby as hard as she could and sped backwards.
Thrown off by the sudden drop, he barely managed to weave around the blasts as he decsended.
The walls of eyes sealed any possible escape. Ribbon had gotten a headstart on them, but she quickly lost her lead. The eyes were closing in, and she was out of breath. She attempted to cry out, but the mass of eyes crushed her lungs.
Kirby slammed against the top of the demon, he whipped around just in time to see his friend get swarmed by a mass of black.
He cried out to her, but his screams fell upon deaf ears.
a series of sharp cracks echoed through the battlefield.
Kirby froze in shock, his eyes tearing up as he was struck by reality.
He screamed, out of pain and guilt, out of anger and bitterness, out sadness and emptyness. The sound caught the attention of the dark mass and it began heading for him.
Kirby looked at the approaching mass with hostility. Jumping down, he spun around and thrust the gun into the monster's large eye. As he pierced the cornea hee kept pushing, deepening the wound. The monster began to violently writhe in agony, blood spilling from its eye like a waterfall. With the gun still lodged in the eye, he fired the weapon. The monster released an ear-splitting screech, blood began to gush out like a geyser, spraying kirby with it's metallic scent.
The dark mass had reached him and began crushing his body. He jammed the gun in further and kept firing, the monster kept screeching.
After a few minutes there was silence. Kirby clung to life by a thread, his body covered in blood and brusies, deformed beyond recognition. He lost his grip and fell, tears streaming down his face.
The wall of eyes had dissapated, so had the entirety of Dark Star leaving him to float alone in space.
he lost conciousness as he looked at Ripple Star, warm and clear of darkness. He couldn't muster a smile.

It took her a few seconds for her to snap out of her trance-like state.
He told her his thought.
The idea of self sacrifice frightened him, but he was becoming insanely desperate.
She looked at him with uncertainty and fear visible in her eyes. He forced a solemn experssion to mask his fear.
they didn't have many options left.
