On a sidenote, Link is wearing a dress in Zelda II whenever you use the fairy spell, but his body becomes a fairy so it isn't that crazy. Link has a ribbon in Link's awakening but never wears it. He wears a gerudo mask in OOT, and TP magic armor looks a lot like an armor version of Zelda's dress.
