When Mal use more dark Magic the green veins become more visible
The top right is under the wing as the very bottom is the top of the wing.

It might seem odd but, Mal is at his strongest when his wings are out, he is able to use powerful Magic and can even control lower Nightmares.

Malice's wings are made of purre dark magic, they start as Shadows that rip through his flesh and then form into a mostly solid real wing, Shadows do still drift off them however, and when Mal has his wings out he cannot hide his dark presence ( any Nightmare in the area would know Mal there and to watch out )
His wings are very powerful but they can be a weakness as well, damaging his wings will crippled some of Malice' abilities for a time but not for long as ones his wings revert back into himself they will reconstruct themselves and be like new.
