Nina's egg was found by Airiah over 5O years ago, only 3 years ago Nina hatched. The whole time Captain was convinced Airiah had found a dud egg, but she never gave up. Constantly keeping Nina's egg warm and safe and well, it paid off, the little nugget hatched.

Needless to say, Airiah and Nina developed a more Mother and Daughter bond. But Captain (his ref update to come later) is more like a Father figure to both girls.
Airiah does most of the care for Nina though.
Which is a lot. As Nina is a complete tomboy, she loves to play in the dirt or mud and wear boyish clothing. It drives Airiah crazy somedays, having to clean Nina's feathers and try to keep the runt out of dirt or mud.
Airiah is incredibly protective of Nina. She also gave Nina her human form, by sharing half of her magic with Nina to make her shift.
Airiah stands around 5'11
Nina around 3'0

Nina is often mistaken for a boy, because of her short hair & hair style. Also because of her boyish clothing.
Nina doesn't care, she's 3. Airiah on the other hand, will quickly correct people xD
