he barely survived it, but plasma knight (pre-reset #puffster) found out he was still alive, and panicked, rescuing him from the void
the void itself had very strange effects on his body; his face had been blown apart and he'd lost his arm, but the mist is what's kept him alive
he eventually learns to control the mist and as such is able to use it for various things, such as shadow/mist wings, and "possessing" a metal gauntlet with the mist to replace his old nub that's gone

he's not met void knight and most likely won't any time soon, and the two will be fairly different in personality
