Raven wasn't selected just to scare their enemies. With the lower half of a hunting spider, he is packed with eight powerful legs capable of damage. Spiders are strong already, but at this scale, he can display impressive speed, heightened jumps, and deadly kicks. His exoskeleton serves as armor to block sword attacks and other assaults, and his feet have two hooks each which slice through skin like butter. His eyes are specialized for night vision.

Despite his advantages, the battlefield is still a merciless place, even within their own camp. Raven carries several scars to prove the fights he's experienced - in war, and among follow soldiers -including three claw marks on his face from his own commander.
His primary weakness is his back and body. Raven's spider body in particlar lacks a thick exoskeleton and is thus easier to puncture. Adding to that, spiders move via pressurized blood pumping through the body, so if he has an open wound, he'll lose blood fast and eventually go limp.
Of course, that will only happen if enemies can get past his barrier of armored legs.

Bonus thing:

Despite his scary appearance and rude personality, Raven is still human at heart. He lacks social skills and dreads talking to others if it isn't business-related. Nature and reading seem to calm him despite his faulty vision in bright daylight. He also crushes on girls pretty easily, but it's not like he could ever have a chance getting to know one with looks like his.
He also loves food.

Omg he’s so flipping cool! I actually love spiders lol. I think they’re pretty and they eat insects which I absolutely hate. Especially the flying ones.

I LOVE SPIDERS haha, pretty cool to see this one! And you've definitely captured that creepy feel of their legs, it almost looks like they're moving. I am sad he terrifies everyone though. Lol. My brain is kinda going nuts trying to reconcile a single person having such incredibly different muscular and skeletal systems in the halves of his body, like how does that even work really? Would a spider's hydraulic muscle system even be effective at such a large size? Does it even matter it's fantasy omg.
PS are you familiar with the comic Saga? There's a spider lady named Stalk with a very similar body plan.

Interestingly enough, I found out spider centaurs are called Arachne. I think... I just Googled it from a story I once read. Still, yours was the first I've seen of it and it was very inspiring
