Eirwen is the species as Neil. She's always shown to have been outwardly in love with Neil since their childhood. With that knowledge in mind, the hierarchy at their society arranged their marriage, believing it was the right choice for the both of them. Later on when Neil becomes a renegade, or apostate to their society, Eirwen mysteriously disappears. Presumably she has committed suicide near the ocean or has ran away for good.
