He dons the mask and stimulator when being put through tests of combat, or how he will react to a potential threat. The stimulator will send strong currents through his body, causing physical stress and uncontrolled urges to attack.

The mask comes from @CandytheMew's contest entry from a few months ago. She knows how to add pretty good tweaks to a character's design(Nothing bad about that)! :)
