Cortland was or what was left of it, no more than some mere ruins of the past. Buildings were burned down, possessions were robbed, and the remaining towns folk recieved some unsightly treatment to which I will not quote nor write. What was left of the village was practically nothing really, the smell of ash hung high, it was much worse earlier, one would practically choke it was so thick. I brushed my stained dusty hands against the side of my apron. Jim had just finished with what he called his "buisness", he drag some bodies out into the open, and he apparently has no sense of discrention. "If you didn't want to gawk upon the shape of the town or the dead you should left when I told you" He noticed my rather disgusted expression to which I hadn't realized until the mention of it. "I would of rather not, it seems safer to be with at least someone, besides, even if they are in this sort of state you could show some respect." I replied, folding my arms, that was all true, at least to me.
Jim just fiddle around with the corpses, and when he didn't respond, I couldn't help but blurt out more. "Is that all you have to say?" I said in a rather demanding tone, I leaned towards him just to meet his gaze. He didn't like that and he straighten himself to push me away from his 'work'. "Look, I hate explainin'myself, infact I hate explaining anything! Perhaps you should just accept the fact that people are not always going to do what you like." "That doesn't make it right.." I said grimacing, I went on to wonder, to wish that this whole thing would of happened to someone else's town. Is it bad to wish that? Perhaps, just maybe the sight of it all was getting to me, I hate disorder, and standing infront of which was my little café it only made me angrier.
Surprisingly, when I glanced back at the lifeless bodies, I was able to shake those feelings away, questions started emerge from my head. Their features were odd, just these bodies were odd in general. "Who were they?" I asked "Who cares." "I do.." Jim's disinterest only made me grimace more. "They look like they were odd people, like they're not,,, or maybe that's just because they're dead." I rambled on for a bit, and Jim only gave me a glare from under his hat, at least he responded. "No you're right, they're not normal." "Why are you sent to kill them." He didn't answer that and he lifted his gun and shot straight past me, his bullet landed in someone who was attempting to sneak up on us. "Heavens! give a warning next time!" I said making a rather high shriek. "No more questions, just read the paper you dimwit." He scowled and shoved a parshly soiled newspaper in my hands, I sighed, I'm not one to really keep up with the news. Hopefully it'll make more sense to me soon.
