Nirikins by LillyLightstar
Nirikins are a mythical species native to Quirani (Von and Priscilla's world.) Little to nothing is known about them, as these creatures are extremely rare and mysterious. However, because of this, speculation is rampant, and whether or not they are a sentient race or just animals is a topic of hot discussion.
What is known about them has given them two names: Winter's Heralds, and Silent Omens.

Tales about the Nirikins regularly flow from the northern regions, how they seem to appear right before disaster strikes, leading them to be feared and hated by most people. One thing the stories all have in common is that, when spotted, a Nirikin will simply stand there with an imposing posture, making no sound at all. Hence, the name Silent Omens.
However, in other regions, these creatures seem to vanish during the warmer months, and only appear during the beginning of winter, hence, Winter's Heralds.
Generally speaking, they are seen as aspects of death, as the cold months of winter destroy crops and kill livestock, leading to starvation.
It's said that Nirikin manes and fur are luxuriously silky and smooth, and collect snow, and really, any part of them sells for an insanely high price, but the few handful of hunters who survived have said that Nirikins are unexpectedly dangerous when fighting, and those hunters refuse to hunt another Nirikin after their first encounter.

In the picture here is a female Nirikin (left) and a male (right).
Females have more hair than males and less spikes, males have larger horns.
(Please note: this is NOT a species that I will be giving out to anyone, they are solely for story purposes in #SPVon and #LSPriscilla's story, and even if I wanted to give them out, they only come in an ice variety, so each one would look very, very similar. Please do not ask me for one.)
