i can't help but fear that the 'end' in 'friend' will show its face again.

I understand what that's like. Even if many bail, there is always some who will never leave your side. If Christ will never abandon me, then I don't see why I would ever leave you. :) If you want to keep in closer touch, I's be happy to share texts of emails.
