re (from my alt posts im too lazy to switch back to my alt just to reply): the answer to pre-reset kai being alive: yes and no
he was supposed to die in a timeline resetting explosion but he was like "nah" and remained trapped in the empty void left by it for a while
he did almost die out of sheer lack of food and water but his friend found him, freaked out and rescued him
that weird mist stuff's keeping him alive
whatever the heck it is

re about the au meta: idk how exactly hes a bat but it's part of my friend @alpha-gryphon's kirby au that is mostly for the anime (krbay/hnk)
blade's a deer thing, sword's kinda dragon like, meta's a bat, tiff's a witch who turned tuff into an owl, dedede's like a phoenix or smth, and kirby's this shapeshifting lizard boi

also galacta's got like 7 eyes and i feel like he might be wyvern-esque how im thinking of him
the au in itself is essentially the galaxy soldier war, but instead of star warriors it's nightmare's own monsters revolting against him

if you wanna know about it ask her, it was mainly her idea, i just saw it and was like "hey can i help" and she agreed xp

mace and trident are this odd duo that are amalgamates
if they go too far apart from eachother they melt on the spot, and if they get extremely stressed in any way they'll just melt together until they calm down or are awkwardly pulled apart
