Nightmare variants are unusual, out of all the Zeharu variants, they're the least desirable mates (and hardest to become mates with).
These Zeharu often lack a heart (metaphorically), they tend to follow raw instincts (eat, sleep, hunt/kill, etc...) and lack any empathy/sympathy/etc...
Nightmares lure in prey with a haunting, yet hypnotizing song, it's even been known to work on other Zeharu. Nightmare variants aren't against cannibalism. They get power from fear and love to eat raw (very raw) meat.
A male Nightmares song is deeper than the females, some say it sounds like the deep, rhythmic, beating of drums. It's suspected their vents on their bodies help make this deep alluring sound.
Never follow one into the dark, if you do, never turn your back on it. Always keep an eye on a Nightmare, if you lose sight of it...

And don't stop until you find light.

Since this boy is a half breed, his bite is fairly soft. But the Nightmare part of him, gave him an advantage, long and sharp, sickle like fangs to bite in deep enough to cause heavy internal damage.

The ripped open belly part of him, is for helping drive fear into his prey. His internal organs are often seen floating around and sometimes, anything he's eaten too (It's an illusion of course, his organs don't actually move around)
Keep in mind, while Zeharu are commonly known as the 'Great Serpents of the Sky' they are also known as the 'Diamond Hearts' because of their large, diamond shaped hearts.
This boy would have one big heart, larger Zeharu can have anywhere from 2-4 hearts.
The empty sockets in his true form, aren't actually empty, his eyes are always there. But you'd have to be very close to see them (Not recommended, as Nightmares are unpredictable).
His eyes become visible in the full moon. Only female Nightmare variants get facial markings on the full moon, males do not.
The inside of his skeletal face, his mouth in particular, is fleshy and he has sharp, but small, teeth inside. (Look at the Council Member, Mika, if that helps give you an idea)

The tattoos are natural on his body (his back pattern is up to you). But for Nightmares, they serve a purpose, for the darkness. It allows them to come across more creepy and makes any prey focus on their eyes. Which are hypnotic to look into.
Except for Mika, since he ripped out one of his eyes, his abilities no longer work and his markings have mostly faded away because of this.
Nightmare variants also love to eat their own flesh and are often seen stitched up (They do this to themselves). Typically the more stitches and flesh missing, the more attractive they are...to other Nightmares (usually).
His horns are visible in his human form, because of a painful ceremony Nightmares often do to themselves. Where he shifts, but not fully, he stopped himself in a 'limbo' state and in the process, mildly altered his appearance (the horns on his head and his ripped open front neck/chest).
It's not a pleasant ceremony, but one Nightmares often do. Some Nightmares are forced to do it, most do it willingly. To alter their appearance and become more terrifying.
Any other variant who's tried this, usually dies from the pain. For some reason, only Nightmares/Nightmare halfbreeds have survived this.

This boy is a beauty. Live the color scheme- I'm a sicker for blue haha.
The song part of nightmares kinda reminds me of sirens
