Some days I just don't feel like finishing anything... This pic is clearly going to be a lot of work, and I almost dread starting the detail work, yet this idea has stuck with me for so long I just have to complete it..! *sigh*

I'm not sure if it's hair or not, but the baby yoshi design was based on the baby yoshi from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, of which the head scales were styled that way.
