INTRO: (Here are the refs of the characters mentioned here - #rudycm)

To the average resident of Smallfin Village, avoiding the mountain’s peak during winter was common knowledge. The relentless storms and blizzards that swept through the peak were guaranteed to kill everything in their path without a doubt. To one peculiar resident, however, the odds stacked against him were not enough to deter him from his mission. Rudy, he was called. As all of Smallfin Village’s inhabitants, he would spend the moment he was born to the time he died working, without making any major contributions to their village. Or so they thought.
Rudy’s deep red fur was completely hidden by the heavy fall of snow. Hail battered his face, but still he trudged through the deep blanket of snow and ice. Memories of his home lingered on his mind as he wondered whether he would live to see it again. Months earlier, his own brother, Wren, had left for the peaks and never returned. He had been selected as one of the few to venture into the peaks to study it, with the intent of one day uncovering the resting place of beings that had come to be known as the Ancient Beasts. Their home, Smallfin Village, was built into the mountains centuries ago to guard the sacred peaks. The village’s strongest residents were selected to guard the peak from outsiders, and some, if they were lucky, would be sent on exploration missions into the peaks. The village’s two lowest and most common classes included miners and food gatherers. Rudy, being tasked with the job of a miner, was never to stray far from his home. His brother would leave him to survive on his own for days and weeks at a time while he went on missions. The memory of his brother’s most recent departure stung to remember,“I’ll be back three weeks from now.” Rudy had heard Wren say as he clung desperately to his leg. Tears streamed from Rudy’s eyes as he begged Wren to stay. Wren had let out a sigh and kneeled down. He pulled Rudy into his arms and hugged him, “I haven’t been given a choice.” he said sadly. He gave Rudy a pat on the shoulder, then stood up and walked out of the room, with a single goodbye as his final word to Rudy. (cont)

Rudy snapped back into reality as he felt his foot hit a rock. Before him was a steep slope with no bottom in sight. There was no stopping his fall as he lost his footing and began to tumble down it. In a desperate attempt to save himself, he extended his claws and sunk them into the deep snow, in hopes he could grab onto something strong enough to prevent the fall to his death. He managed to slow himself by sinking his claws into the frozen ground, but was unable to stop himself entirely. With nothing more to do, he closed his eyes and braced himself for a rough landing. He suddenly felt the ground underneath him give away, and his head sunk below deep snow. Upon letting out a desperate gasp for air, he was only greeted with snow filling his mouth. He began to struggle, his vision blurred and everything faded to black. (cont)

Rudy awoke to the sound of dripping water. He slightly lifted his head, and his vision blurred as a wave of pain hit him. He lifted himself with his front paws and sat up, beginning to examine his surroundings. Soon the walls of a cave came into focus, and he welcomed the stillness and absence of snow. As he glanced upwards, he saw a break in the ceiling and darkness beyond it, “I must have fallen through there.” he thought aloud. The glow of a blue light directed his attention to the wall behind him. In the center of it, a huge blue crystal let off a faint glow. It was cracked in various places, and it became clear pieces had been removed from it. Rudy’s eyes widened in disbelief. He eagerly reached for the pickaxe he had brought with him, and took a swing at it. Upon being hit, instead of shattering, a blinding light burst from it in all directions. Rudy shielded his eyes with a single paw. As the light began to fade, runes lit up all along the cavern walls. He turned around, and saw a huge chunk of ice and rock at the far end of the cave begin to glow. And most suprisingly of all, within, were the various silhouttes of people and creatures alike. Before he could even take it all in, it burst and shards of it were sent flying in all directions. Rudy stumbled to the ground. He glanced back, and the creatures he saw within it all stood before him. After thousands of years in a state of hibernation, the Ancient Beasts were awake.

Sarah huffed slightly at the kit, obviously unimpressed. "Out of all the people who could've woke me up!" She cried. "Alas, I give you my thanks." Her voice showed her obvious annoyance. She cursed under her breath and brushed her armor off. "I wonder what we are called for..." Sarah's brows furrowed in thought. "I hope this menace will not be as bad as last time." She looked at the other beasts behind her.

Pyra was shocked as she felt blood flow into her limbs. She kneeled down and waited for her strength and vision to return. As her vision cleared, she frantically glanced around, and was happy to see each of her allies were alive and well. She was shocked upon seeeing the small cat like creature that stood ahead of them. His face bore a mixture of fear and happiness that she didn’t quite understand.

( @frostsong theres no specific order. You can go from characters pov on the whole situation)

( @Kole I imagine they all fell pretty rough to the ground xD Unless they somehow managed to withstand it)

Rudy took the whole scene in, finally speaking, “You’re all really the Ancient Beasts?” he said astonished.

"What do /you/ think, kit?" She said simply, her green and teal armor roughed up but some how was fine.

{Once released, Caminus didn't wake right away. For the first minute or so, his core was solid stone and metal. As time went on, it began to heat up and became like a furnace once again. Picking himself up off the floor, Caminus quietly looks at everyone surrounding him.}

Liola got up, a little wobbly. "Man, could've been at least a little less rough." She muttered under her breath. Speech... She was awake. She wasn't sure whether to be happy, or somber.
As her comrades all started waking up, she glanced over at the strange cat-like creature with curiosity, and caution. Who do they trust, now that they've just been awoken.

Rudy glanced around, “ I guess so.” he murmurred.

“How is everyone?” Pyra asked as she looked around. She hoped that being asleep so long didn’t have any more bad side effects on the group, as they seemed to get worse each time they awoke.

"Obviously I feel great- ah, Pyra wasn't it?" She asked looking at the flame-creature.

"Well, I felt like I'm forgetting something." Liola replied to Pyra, a small headache growing at her temple.

{Caminus looked at Pyra.} "You look familiar. Yet I cannot recall....who are you?"

Sarah sighed simply. "Who was our last enemies? Oh gods what if this one is /worse/?!" She exclaimed, struggling to keep calm.

Upon hearing Raiden’s remark, Pyra was startled to realize as she too, couldn’t remember a single thing about the past.
“Pyra...yes, thats me.” She said to Sarah. Pyra forced her eyes shut and desperately tried to remember something, anything, about the past, but to no avail. Not even her own parents names or appearances would come to her mind.

"Looks like the effects have gotten worse." Liola said tartly. She winced as the headache spiked then started to subside.

“You’re here to protect and save the world, yet none of you can remember a single thing?” Rudy spoke up, his voice suddenly harsh and judgemental, “But.. I came here for your help.” He said sadly.

Her sharp eyes landed on Rudy immediately after his comment. "What do you need help with kitten?" She squatted down to get to Rudy's height.

{Caminus looked at his hands, metallic and unfeeling.} "What...Happened to me?"

"Maybe we'll Remember later?" Liola tried to reassure the kit, "We can still help you know." She put a hand on her hip.

She sighed in a depressed way and murmured, "I hate this.."

“Strange things have been happening.” Rudy explained to Sarah, “Disappearances...and people suddenly going mad. My brother was one of those to vanish while on a routine trip around the peaks. I came here looking for help.” he said sadly.

She thought for a moment. "Maybe fate brought you hear to wake us, yes?" Sarah bit her lip, hoping she was wrong. "If the fight is soon, I fear we may not bear it my colleagues.

"*

"Why were we picked as the Beasts then? C'mon, we have to have something to help us defeat yet another threat." Liola said.

“I believe that magic could be playing some role in whats happening.” Rudy replied, “But its definitely like none that I have seen before.”
While the others spoke, Pyra grabbed her flame shaped sword. She placed it on the ground near where the group stood, to help provide some heat. The cold didn’t bother her much, but she assumed some of the others would like it, “We ought to get out of here.” Pyra said, “We’ll all freeze down here.”

{Caminus walked closer to the kit. His furnace like core giving off a good amount of heat now. } "What do you expect us to do?"

Liola looked to the kit, contemplating how to get out of the cavern. "How did you get down here little kit?"

(Darn am I too late??? I have the info now.)

Sarah started to look around, hoping to find an opening to the outside.

Rudy welcomed the heat that came from Caminus, “ I would like your assistance in finding my brother.” He said, “ And your help looking into some of the other cases too...they’re popping up everywhere. Theres something more going on, but nobody has the slightest clue what. It hasn’t become too severe yet, but I imagine soon all people will be calling for the help of the Ancient Beasts.”

Rudy glanced at Raiden, “ I haven’t the slightest clue.” he sighed.

Rudy pointed to the hole in the ceiling upon being asked how he arrived. Getting through the hole seemed impossible now

She looked at the hole. "Can anyone fly?" She said suddenly. "I wonder if I could move those rocks..." Sarah flung her arms out but it ended up with her cursing in frustration and Sarah falling back.

“There has to another way out. We’ve been in and out of this place dozens of times.” She gently placed a hand on the glowing runes along the wall, and more began to glow. A new path came into view, appearing to lead into a passageway she had neglected to notice previously.

{Caminus looks up at the ceiling. Walking up to the wall, he sinks his metal fingers and talons into the wall and starts to climb up to the hole.}

"Is it bad that I think I forgot what my ability is?" Liola asked casually, but was secretly panicking.

"Ingenious!" She cried suddenly heading towards the opening to (probably) escape out of the mountain.

“Perhaps a few of you could exit through the whole and scout ahead” Pyra said, “The rest of us can take the passageway.”

Jessica woke up rather slowly, she looked at them all with tired eyes.

"Don't worry- Lola. That's your name, correct?" She looked back at Liola.

(Ahhh I’m sorry for my slowness messing things up)

"Oh!" Liola said in surprise as the runes lit up. She started to make her way towards and down it. Then again, maybe they should be cautious of it.. Ah what the heck.

"Liola, and okay, I guess not." She shrugged then started looking at her hand, trying to trigger it. She knew it was transformative, but just didn't exactly know what.

Rudy dug his claws into the walls, “I think I can climb out” He announced. He headed upwards besides Caminus.
Pyra waved to them, and headed to the passageway with the remaining group.

(that's okay! Keeping up is hard aaaaaaa xP )

{Caminus nods and climbs up out of the hole. Looking around the snowstorm, he begins to walk around the mountain, steam rising from his core as the snow vaporized against it.}

She got up, and stretched, seeing everyone else also awake. "Oh. What did I miss?" She said walking up to the others.

Sarah followed Pyra and she grabbed her bow from her back and readied her sharp, magic-induced arrows.

Liola stopped for a moment, surprise on her face. It quickly turned to a smirk as she kept walking. It disappeared fairly fast though.

(idk what im doinggggg i can barely tell what's going on because I had to read the info hurriedly)

"My powers may be weak, but that doesn't mean I'm not good at being an archer." Sarah looked forward, continuing to head towards the tunnel.

Pyra glanced back at Jessica as she led the group forward, with one hand sliding across the wall, and another using her fiery sword as a torch, “None of us can remember anything. Its the same for you, I’m assuming?” Pyra asked, continuing to lead the group forward.

Rudy reached the top of the hole and glanced around beside Caminus, “How about we try and find the entrance?” He asked. He began walking forward, and a spot where the snow seemed piled up caught his attention.

(Welcome back Kole!!)

She nodded. "Yeah... It's all a blurr..." Jessica said, looking rather confused.

"Rumbling... Do you think that hole collapsed?" Liola raised a brow. Hoping that if so, the kit and the other were safe enough.

Pyra stopped dead in her tracks. The runes seemed to vanish, and all she could see ahead was a pile of snow, possibly blocking the exit. A rumble of what sounded like footsteps sounded overhead.

Sarah held her ground as she stared at where the noise was. Her bow was shaking from the pull she had on it.

(sorry im slow i cant think very well because its loud ^^'

{With a grunt, Caminus walks up to the piled snow and removes it.}

Jessica looked in concern at the loud thumping above. //What could that be?...// She thought.

Sarah steadied her bow and kept it held at the pile of snow, growling under her breath.

Pyra leaps back as the snow vanishes. Caminus appears, and Rudy is standing behind him, looking impressed.

Jessica sighed in relief. "At least we can get out of here now..." She muttered.

Liola ignored Basil, she looked over to Caminus, a hand over her eyes as they adjusted to the light. "What took you so long?"

“Sorry to spook you.” Rudy said nervously. Pyra stepped outside, and welcomed the light. The skies were grey and bits of snow flew about. A bit of sun shone through a parting in the clouds.

Sarah aimed her bow down but did not let it go. "So it is winter. To bad it isn't spring or summer." She sighed in disappointment.

{Caminus just shrugs in reply.} "You act like I remember this place."

She walked out, inhaling the fresh air and stretching. "Finally." Sarah smiled happily her limbs feeling quite a lot better.

"Loosen up, that was supposed to be funny." Liola smirked, but a shadow of worry crossed her face. If he had truly forgotten almost everything then, what would happen next time they woke up?

Rudy’s ears perked up, he could see now, thanks to the bit of sun, “WREN!!” he began frantically shouting. Pyra realized a small tent had been set up in the distance. When no one answered, Rudy dashed towards it, leaving everyone behind, “Kit, hold on, it could be dangerous!” Pyra called to him. Rudy didn’t even hesitate.

Jessy just stayed quiet, listening to everyone's conversations but still confused of many things.

Pyra turned to Basil. “I’m assuming this is the part of the peak.” She answered, “We should hurry out of here before the storm picks up.”

Jessica climbed out, wincing at the sun and wrapping her arms around her self for warmth. She shivered a bit.

Sarah ran after Rudy, somehow she still held onto her bow and then she tripped, huffing. "Kit!" She called after him angrily.

Liola followed the rest, thankful she had a coat, even if it was rather... Small. She quickly hurried after the others.

{Caminus follows Rudy, keeping close in case something dangerous appears.}

A chill swept over Rudy’s body as he noticed the tent had been completely battered by something. Whatever it was, it wasn’t the work of the snowstorm. Deep claw marks had torn holes in its sides, and various matter had been thrown about. A struggle had occurred here. Rudy reluctantly stuck his head into the tent and began to feel sick.
Pyra, as she watched from the distance, heard a disturbing shriek come from Rudy.

{Caminus caught up to Rudy at looked at the poor state of the tent.} "...I'm sorry..."

Sarah looked over at Rudy's direction, immediately terrified. She got up and followed Rudy's snow tracks.

Liola turned her head so fast to the shriek that her neck cracked. It felt nice, but a shriek is never nice, not like that one at least.

Jessica slowly walked over to the tent, "Jeez..." She muttered, seeing the deep tears.

Liola ran as best as she could in the snow to the tent. unsure if she wanted to look inside.

She finally reached the tent, hunched over and shivering from the cold. "Kit...?" Sarah got her bow readied a soon as she saw the claw marks.

Rudy dropped to the ground. Blood covered nearly every inch of the tents inside. He turned around, and not far from the tent, in the distance, were the scattered bodies of various crew members that had accompanied his brother, “Wren..could still be alive” He said shakily.

As Liola finally managed to catch up, she saw the scene. "Who- no, /What/ could have done this?" She murmured.

She looked at all the bodies and was rather terrified.

(brb, gotta do some stuffs)

{Caminus didn't reply. He was distractedly looking at the remains in the tent. //This is oddly familiar...the carnage...Where have I seen this before?//}

She looked inside and put her hand on Rudy's shoulder. Sarah realized she hadn't experienced blood in quite a while. "I will pray to the gods that he is, young one."

Pyra was already ahead staring over the countless bodies. None of them had any clothes or weapons on them. They must’ve been ambushed, and had run from the tent, desperate to get away. A permanent look of horror had settled upon their faces. Their clouded eyes were wide open and staring towards the sky. Various gashes and fatal wounds covered each body.

Rudy leaned against Sarah as closed his eyes. His entire body shook and he pinned his ears back.

{Caminus turned away from the tent, and towards the fallen explorers.} "Rabbit (Raiden), can you truly track the thing responsible?"

Rudy said nothing, but tightly grabbed onto Basil and sunk his head.

Rudy wiped his eyes, still keeping his head low and eyes hidden from the horrific scene, “My village surrounds the bottom of the peaks.” He explained, “As long as we head down we’ll make it there.”

{Caminus looked around at everyone, considering the severity of the situation. His body may be unfeeling, but everyone else was flesh and blood, and in the middle of a snowstorm.} "Very well. Let's go. When the weather clears, I swear to find your friend."

{Caminus turns to Raiden.} "Rabbit, if we stay, most of us might succumb to the elements, and once night falls, we will be vulnerable. We need to regroup and come back better prepared."

Liola shrugged as they made their choice. She wasn't bothered too much either way. Although, she was sure they could all use rest, even after that slumber.

“Thank you.” Rudy murmurred. Pyra returned to rhe group after examining the bodies. She drew her sword and held it to her side. “I believe I’ve found an easy path down.” She announced, “Everyone should stay on alert.”

{Caminus looks at Raiden as he walks away.}"...It's not like you told me your name at all.....Just saying....Plus the ears and cotton tail are hard to miss..." {He grumbles lowly.}

"Show us the way." Liola said to Pyra. She watched a couple of interactions, interested in how their relationships will play out as they were meant to work together. She sighed snd tried to stay by Pyra.

(Since its getting late we can start wrapping things up now. I was thinking we should get our characters to the safety of the village and we can leave off there, if everyone is up to that.)

Pyra nodded to Liola. She took Rudy’s hand and led him along as he continued to hold his eyes tightly shut. She began walking forwards, avoiding the bodies. They began down a gentle slope, and towards the bottom, the gentle glowing lights of a village were seen.

Jessy just stood there, moving with the group but staying out of their ways. She didn't know whether or not to ask someone what's going on.

After a bit of walking, soon they were among the village. Rudy now led the way through the bustling streets, all while still staying eerily silent. Various creatures similar to him stared on, clearly wondering who he had led into their village.

(I was out with a friend all evening, hello :D)

Liola glanced around nervous, but didn't show it. She held a playful smirk on her face as she walked.

{Caminus looked around, eyeing the other creatures curiously. //Hmm, have people....always looked like this?//}

Jessica peered around at the village curiously, still rather confused.

Rudy stopped at a large wooden house, decorated with various gemstones. It stood out among the smaller houses they had seen along the way. Rudy knocked lightly on the door, and let himself in. Two guards greeted him, “Who are these strangers?” they questioned. Rudy dodged the question, “I need to speak to Chief Snaggle regarding urgent matters” He said. One guard raised an eyebrow, but stepped aside. The other walked down a wide hallway. Moments later, A huge cat appeared, wearing fancy armor. He had thick fur and a scarred face, “What business do you have here?” he asked the group.

Jessy stayed silent.

{Caminus ducked to enter the building's door. He decided to let Pyra or Rudy explain, as he could barely remember his own name, much less an explanation as to who they were.}

"We're the Beasts!" Liola said. Because apparently nobody else wanted to say it.

The large cat turned to Raiden, “Awoken?”.
Rudy stepped forward, “Snaggle, I introduce the Ancient Beasts.”
Snaggle’s expression was unreadable, “I went searching for Wren and found them.” Rudy explained, his eyes teared up and he began to shake again. Snaggle took Rudy into one of his arms and motioned to the guards. They immediately escorted the Ancient Beasts from the room, and led them to an empty room of the same building. It was filled with a few beds, a table, and some couches, “Snaggle will speak to you when he is ready.” A guard explained, “In the meantime, it is best you stay here.”

(Ah I was slow again, sorry about that)

{Caminus walked over to one of the beds and sat down on it, causing it to bow and creak under his weight.} "Now what?"

(Ah, that's fine lol)

Liola walked over to a couch and sat down. She liked to take up space. This was a comfortable bed-like thing, yes.

Jessy walked in and just leaned against a wall. //What am I doing here... I don't seem to have a purpose...// she thought, in doubt of herself, gazing at the floor.

Another guard placed some food and drinks on the table, then left the room. The door creaked shut, and the handle turned as he locked the door behind him. Pyra stood up and twisted the handle, but it wouldn’t budge. She glanced back at the group, realizing they could easily force their way out, but instead grabbed some bread from the table and flopped down onto a bed, “ I could use a break.” She muttered.

“How is everyone?” Pyra asked. She noticed Jessy, “I hope the events of today haven’t upset you.” She said sadly.

"Same here!" Liola said. She wanted to get food, but she didn't want to get up. She stared longingly at it.

('same here' to Pyra's previous statement lol)

Jessy turned her head slightly to Pyra. "I... just feel useless. I don't even know why I'm here... I can only remember my name..." She muttered, talking softly and quietly.

"I'm tired." Liola said. She still stared at the food.

{Caminus shrugged.} "I don't really know what to think about all this. I can't remember much from my past. Am I supposed to know you all?"

“We all have a purpose here.” Pyra replied, “I’m sure more will become clear in the morning. For now, I think we should take this opportunity to rest.

(How about we leave off here? I think this rp went pretty well today, but this being my first time hosting one I definitely could’ve done better. If anyone wants to make some suggestions to me before they go I would appreciate it.)
