so i usually don't talk about these things, i just post my crap and go on my merry way lol, but I kinda wanted to say something while I have a smidgen of confidence ^^"
for the few that don't know, self insert is basically when you ship yourself with a fictional character. i don't exactly approve of shipping yourself with a real person like a celebrity just because they might already be in a relationship and are, y'know, real and what not, so I'm not excluding those types in this post.
basically i just wanted to make a small little post on this since i recently saw a wonderful little stamp on deviant art saying how pathetic you are for wanting to ship yourself with a fictional character which is entirely untrue and i am very proud to be pathetic in that case lol.
the reason i self insert is simple,,my first relationship was really awful. i was emotionally taken advantage of a lot, and said relationship ended in him talking to other girls behind my back and eventually dumping me for some rando he started talking to. naturally, it made me mistrustful of relationships in general, and i'm not interested in pursuing another one anytime soon, if ever.
plain and simple i use self insert as a therapy. it's not a crutch,,i just enjoy it, and it makes me feel happy and confident, which is all i can ask for, haha.
sure, i've had people say nasty things to me, and even one wonderful individual made a hate page for me back in the day, but remember folks, the key (cont.)

(cont.) word in self insert is SELF. which means it's not bothering anyone else. it's just for you. and if you don't like it, don't look. it's really not that hard.
that being said, please please please be kind to people who self insert. it's not sad or desperate, for many people it's a personal choice, not because they can't have a relationship, but because for whatever reason, they just don't like them. it's honestly nbd. let people do what they want.
it might be a therapeutic thing, or a way for people to express their feelings, you really never know, and it kinda sucks to already be super self conscious and then get ragged upon by some salty rando on the internet.
it's especially uncalled for when you use selfxoc. i can kinda see (but obviously not approve), of people getting salty if it's a legit fictional character, but the thing about an OC is that it's yours (lmao Satoru) so you're literally bothering people even less. shocker. i know.
whether you know it or not, a lot of people self insert just by adding pieces of themselves into their own characters. and even if you don't like self insert, that's alright with me. people should be able to do whatever they want without getting unnecessary hate imo.
sorry for this long thing, but I just wanted to get this out of the way and help you guys to understand me more. i hope you all have a lovely day, and please just be nice to other people lol. don't spread stupid hate just because you're into "unpopular opinions" and don't be rude or judgy to someone just because it's not what you're into. simple as that.

Tbh big agree. I think I only self insert myself in things as a mother figure. But it's no one else's business what you do with ocs and even then it's not their business if it's with a character from a series since it's not affecting others negatively??? If someone has a problem with it, then they have some serious issues they need to sort out with themselves first, getting angry at harmless strangers on the Internet for no reason bitter headasses
