Cheers, guys. @Gaz: Above Llyn Peris. The old slate mines are over the other side of the valley to the left. I shouldn't say this, but I just parked the car and started clambering up hill with sneakers on (just stopping off for a quickie while exploring some other roads on the way to the coast). Given the weather, I could have been easily caught out. I was up quite high (for me). In my defence, if I broke my ankle again, I could have easily slid down to the car on my butt, hehe! :D
My thanks for your comments. @Gaz: Haha... I swear a fairly old couple passed me and looked me up and down with raised eyebrows! I was giggling away as they decended with all the gear on - the whole kaboodle - and myself in "vile" urban hooded top and sneakers. LOL! I bet they would have had a very different impression of me if I had my sketchbook out at the time. But no, I had the audacity to be rocking the DS! If I had my laptop out when they passed, I might have had to call the air ambulance... cardiac arrest! Seriously, I have not been judged as often as with hikers. I guess they think I'm council estate sum, hehe.
