After turning heading back the way he had come, Hawk decided to continue his search for his brother. "Good riddance, how does he do it?" he wondered as he peeked into one shop after another. Suddenly, he heard running up ahead. He glanced up in time for Hunter to rush by, grabbing his wrist as he did and dragging the boy along in a sprint.
Hawk's eyes went wide as he struggled to find his feet. "Woah, what the-- Slow down, Hunter!"
"We gotta get out of here," his brother replied shortly, throwing a glance where he had come from.
"What? Why? What did you do??"
"No time to explain," Hunter said as he ran in the direction Harper had gone.

Talon grinned and wagged his tail. "Well, I'd love the company! Trust me, it's a ton of fun being wild. You can do whatever you want!" he enthused.

The twins didn't stop running until they were at the very outskirts of the town. Hawk paused to catch his breath, but Hunter kept walking, looking about warily. "We might've lost them..."
"Lost -who-, Hunter?" Hawk said sternly. "-What- did you do?"
Hunter began to move briskly again, forcing Hawk to jog to catch up. "We'll keep moving for now. We'll stay out of town a bit."

"Ugh this is gonna be at least three days walk! Sometimes I wish I brought a horse too much feed though." Harper mumbled to herself, stoping a few times to look around. "Weird forest, it's almost silent."

The twins soon walked into a forest, laden in shadows and softly quiet. "Hunter, we're gonna get lost here. We should head back," Hawk murmured.
Hunter glanced about. "No, not yet. We'll stick around here for a bit."
His brother scowled at him. "Hunter, you stile something again, didn't you?"
His brother didn't reply, continuing to walk forwards.
Hawk groaned and dragged a hand over his face. "I don't know what to do with you..." When he spotted something up ahead, he paused and squired its way. "Hey... isn't that Harper?"

Talon shrugged. "Sure. Hey, where is your master? You have one, right?"

Harper was strolled further away not noticing the two boys behind her. Sighed sticking her hands her pocket, //life is so boring and dull at times, I bet that's why people make up stories about places like this. Somewhat childish.//She mused to herself,she turned to look at some rather peculiar stones.//... this wasn't mentioned.// Her intrest suddenly peeked.

"Hey, Harper!" Hawk called, waving a hand.
"Shh, forget her!" Huhter hissed, though a moment too late.
Hawk rushed toward the girl. "Hey, what are you doing in the woods? Is this the only way to the next town?"

Harper turned her a bit surprised, reaching her hand to her side."Oh it's just you," She mumbled relaxing a bit. "I take it you too are either stalking me or is this just coincidence?" She mumbled a little annoyed. //Sheesh what's with them?//

"Alright" Aki stood wincing a bit, "I'll tear his legs off while you get his back." She laughed trying to ease the tense fear.

Talon sensed Aki's fear, though he shrugged it off, believeing she was just being paranoid. He sbuck through the undergrowth until he spotted a glimpse of fur. "Ah-ha!" he howled excitedly as he pounced forward toward Messiah.

Aki followed his lead but trip on her paw due to their last encounter. "Oh itm jutern anotm caninem" Her face was planted in the dirt making her speech gurgled.

Hawk smiled in embarrassment and rubbed his neck. "Actually... We had to run, and ended up here..." He shot Hunter a look, theh turned back to Harper. "I hope you don't mind we accompany you a bit?"

Talon's paws hit the dirt and he paused in a crouch. He looked up at Messiah with a grin. "Well hey! Another Nivurian!" he exclaimed. He stood upright, then paused to look back at Aki. "Uhh, what was that?"

"Hmph whatever, it's not like I'm doing anything interesting anyway." She glanced over at Hunter with an unimpressed look then quickly turned back to staring at the stones silently. "... Let's keep going..." She said finaly passing them, still sort eyeing the monuments.

Aki lift her head and gasped spatting out dirt. "Nevermind, a Niv what? You're a wolf with uh,,, horns? //Maybe he's actualy a mutated deer//And Honestly I've never seen a dog of your stature."

Talon looked back and forth at the two canines. "Yeah, we're Nivurians! I've never seen you before, though," he remarked as he tipped his head to look over Messiah's appearance. He popped upright and smiled. "I'm Talon! This is my leashed friend... Uhh, what's your name?" he asked Aki awkwardly.

"Uhh Aki.." She stated her face still written in bewilderment. "We sorta ran into a bit of trouble back there, I suggest not traveling in that direction. There's a mean brute who hates canines."

Hawk anxiously eyed the statues as well, then hurried to walk beside Harper. Hunter hung back a few paces, eyes on the path behind them.
Hawk shoved his hands in his pockets, gaze flickering between Harper and the ground. "So uh... Do you have family nearby? If they live in my town, maybe I'll know them."
The forest grew quieter and quieter as they traveled, and the foliage above continued to choke out more of the sunlight. The atmosphere was slowly turning mysterious.

"Messiah! Nice to meet you!" Talon responded happily, tail swaying. He directed his snout in the direction they had come. "Yeah, there was this big ol' horsey who attacked us back there. But we scared him off, so it's alright! Say, what're you doing all the way out here?"

"Oh them, no I'm afraid I'm very far away from them, I'm not even sure if I'm within the same country, this map is very old and several things about it are off. And besides, my father wouldn't even let boys like you near my home. He hates strangers, especially men since, ever since we've had problems with both rustlers and money." Harper said rather loosely. "Not to mention that we just met today, I doubt you've met them. Do yourself a favor and don't follow me back home." She warned keeping her eyes ahead.
"Now if you were talking about extended family,,, no nevermind. You needn't worry about me."

"Very mean guy, though I suppose it was deserved since you did cause quite a commotion!" Aki reminded Talon. "Well, nevertheless we're ok that's all that matters, I'm going to follow up with Talon's question as well."

(I'm kind of just sorta making things up for harper but I came up with an idea why she's doesn't believe so much in the supernatural maybe where she's from magic is sealed off. And like other countries have it but her's just limits information on it. :0

Hawk's eyes widened in surprise and he waved his hands defensively. "Oh no, I wouldn't go to your house! That wouldn't be proper at all! I-I was just... curious, if you know what I mean... S-Sorry about that," he stammered in embarrassment.
Hunter had not been paying much attention to the conversation and had thus noticed how dark it had gotten, even though it was hardly even noon. He stopped and held still. "Hey, guys, quiet a moment," he told them, eyes watching the darkness.

"Great.." Aki grumbled sarcastically. She moved her ears foreward a bit soon after as though if she had an idea. "Hey, you know what I heard? There's an underground plaza somewhere, animals there market things like merchandise from strange lands, they'll be food and we can rest from our injuries!"

Harper smiled a bit, "Yeah you wouldn't last with him, my mom would be your only saving hope if we came. She's overly generous." She stopped to turn hunter her smile fading. "First time you've said anything." Though her voice soon got a bit softer as now noticing the forest's strange patterens. //Is this? No, it can't be it's all just nonsense.//

Talon glanced toward Aki when she spoke and quickly grew anticipative. He panted eagerly and remarked, "Wow, now that sounds fascinating! Wait - what injuries?"

"Yes, and I was just kick by a tank that's ten times the size. How ignorant can you be." She growled in annoyance, she sighed calming down a bit "Though I've never been to it, and have only heard it from local gangs."

Hawk stopped to look at Hunter as well, going quiet. He then realized how eerily silent it was in the forest, and how dim it had become. To add to that, there were things around them that didn't seem normal. Plants grew tall and twisty, with purple flowers on the end. Dotted around the tree stumps were what seemed to be glowing mushrooms. "Maybe we shouldn't be here," Hawk murmured nervously.
In the distance, something rustled. Hunter's gaze jolted in the direction of the sound. Hawk froze in a panic.

"Probably a wild animal. Or the local nut cases." She mused pulling out her pistol squinting one eye she focused ahead. Her heart rate started to go up, she couldn't help the instinct of fear crawling up into her.

Hawk shrugged in nervous agreement, then froze when Harper pulled out a pistol. //Woah... Didn't expect that,// he mused as he eyes her carefully. Hunter must've been thinking the same thing because he watched her too.
Another snap made both of their heads snap toward the forest again. A shape slinked through the shadows, flashing two sharp yellow eyes in their direction.

"What the heck..." Harper mumbled to herself, looking beyond her pistol to get a better look. //That's no animal...// She thought her heart racing faster.

As the shape slinked nearer, another shadow began to move, sneaking in another direction. The first one crawled near enough for the three of them to see its appearance. It was werewolf-like with its matted fur, wolfish ears, and sharp face which hissed dangerously.
Hawk yelped in a panic when the creature stepped nearer. In a split second, he lifted his arms and something silvery rippled up his arms and materialized into a crossbow, which immediately fired a bolt toward the beast.
It snarled and lunged back into the shadows, but then the other one loped toward them with a snarl.

Harper fired the second the creature showed itself, while not realizing what hawk had done. Until of course an arrow fired, she turned to look at hawk for a split second confused on where he got his weapon. //Wait what is happening?// She freaked a bit but shrugged it off for now. Backing up a bit behind them she readied to fire a few more shots.

Hawk flinched when Harper's pistol rang out directly beside him but was unfortunately unable to cover his ears. The creature they fired at didn't dodge in time and it collapsed with a pained howl.
The others seemed to fall back when she fired, but then they reappeared and prowled toward them, clawed hands flexing. There were three left - an even match.
Hawk's heart was pounding. "What do we do?" he fretted aloud.
Hunter trudged past his brother with a stren, bold face, a sword in hand. He whipped his toward the nearest creature which danced away with a hiss.
Another one crept around toward Harper's side, eyes glinting.

Harper's mind started to fall all over the place, //shoot, shoot!// She screamed eternally focusimg on getting her gun to work, while not noticing the monster nearing her.

Seeing its chance, the creature lunged at Harper with a howl and bit onto her forearm with its wolf-like teeth. Hawk gasped in shock from the howl and looked over to see one beast latched onto her. He rushed around her and fired a bolt into the beast's side.
Hunter glanced over momentarily but was busy battling two werewolves which jumped at him from both sides.

(Oh my goodness)

Harper yelped back, she was too shocked to even feel the pain at first. She struggled to get her arm free from the wolf, as soon as Hawk fired she glanced over, but quickly yanked her blood drenched arm from the monster. //C'mon please work// Quickly scrambling back she fired again aiming between the eyes. "There's too many she yelled toward hunter, we have to get away!"

(Hooray!)

The werewolf shrieked and fell back when Harper sent a bullet into its skull.
"No there isn't!" Hunter snapped back. He had already slain two and looked about finished with the wounded one before him.
Hawk hesitated as he looked over Harper's arm. "...You should hang back for a bit. We can finish this," he reassured her.

Harper looked like she was about to protest, but instead silently swallowed her quarrel. Slinking back she started to add more rounds to her gun quickly, of course with a rather stiff and heated expression.

(Watching forged in fire while doing this, they mentioned some pretty cool and historic blades! :0

Hawk turned back to the battle to find one more beast loping their way, teeth bared ferociously. Shuddering inside, the boy raised his crossbow and shot another projectile, which buried itself in his opponent's shoulder. It wailed but continued forward intently. Just in time, Hunter came with his blade and hacked into the werewolf, ending its barrage. It looked like the attack was about over.

Harper relaxed a bit, breathing heavily she started to slowly put down her weapon. She didn't say anything to them, no a word or moan was uttered. Raising up her head towards the sky she closed her eyes, she needed a moment to process what had just happened. //Ok, so mutant dogs, and guys with materializing weapons, normal completly normal.// She turned to glance over at them, at that moment she just noticed how defined and pointed their ears were. //No! This is just crazy, this,, just too much too much.// Harper stared forward her face tired an written in shock. //It's ok, I'm fine now, this is fine, it's all fine.//
Closing her eyes again she tried to control her ragged breathing , in an attempt to calm herself.

The twins quickly finished off the last werewolf and the forest once more returned to eerie silence, though the smell of blood now caught in their senses. Hunter shook the blood off his blade, then it rippled out of shape and turned into a metal hunk in his hand, which he slipped into a pocket.
Hawk, not willing to return his weapon yet, slung his crossbow over his shoulder then approached Harper. He tilted his head to study her face with a concerned look. "Hey... You alright? That thing got your arm..."

"Huh? I-I'm fine, I'm fine." Harper said sternly, moving back a bit she pulled her arm towards, as gesturing that she did not want help. She opened her mouth but words failed and her gaze lowered.

Hawk bit his lip with a frown as he looked her over. "You should probably clean up that bite. It's bleeding," he murmured.
Hunter watched over the two for a moment, then returned his gaze to their surroundings, expecting more creatures to come out. "Not now. We need to get out of here first," he told them.

Harper agreed silently getting up and clenching her wound. She walked foreward ahead of them a bit, she made a small glance again then kept moving. //Is fine? Father would kill me if he found me like this, no nevermind that he's not here.//

The boys followed closely, eyes on the lookout for more danger. But after the slaughter that just happened, they somewhat doubted any creature would be foolish enough to attack. Nevertheless, they moved quickly down the path until light began to streak through the branches again. Birds sang overhead and crickets chirped. At last, it seemed as though they were safe.
Hawk let out a breath of relief, then beckoned toward a nearby rock. "Hey, Harper. You should sit down and clean your bite now."

"Mhm" She tried smiling but just ended gritting her teeth. Reluctantly she settled down and started rummaging through her pouch, though with hawk standing she acted frantically.

Hawk stood close by and watched as Harper dug through her bag, while Hunter stood a ways back with his eyes on the forest, still on the lookout for danger.
"Uhh... You need help?" Hawk queried awkwardly. "I mean... You'll have a hard time bandaging that with only one hand."

"Sure whatever." She grumbled giving up, she didn't look him in the eye and still was trying to figure out what to say. Relaxing her arm a bit, she allowed Hawk to tend to her wound.

Hawk reluctantly sat down beside Harper and took the bandages from her. After making sure her arm was out, he carefully cleaned away the blood then proceeded to bind the injury. "Alright," he murmured as he finished. "I hope that's alright."

"It's fine" She said pulling away. "Ok, it's fine, from the moment I ran into, or more less you ran to me. You've been fretting over my safety, just who exactly are you? Or for the matter What are you?" Harper snapped, the last part coming out a little harsher tgan she intended.

At her abrupt exclamation, Hawk jumped up and took a few panicked steps back. //Wh-What? What did I do? Did I say soemthing wrong??// "I-I don't know-- I--"
Hunter finally came over with a bored look. "Stop freaking. He's just a dreamy kid who's got a crush on you. It'll pass and we'll be on our way. Alright?"

Harper shot Hawk a look, "I can get that!" She waved. "But that a still doesn't doesn't answer my question. What are you! You know what? Yeah nevermind." She got up storming off, stumbling in the process tho she quickly recover. "I'm going now, alright? Don't follow me"

Hawk had a horrified look on his face as she got up and began to leave. "H-Harper, wait! It's not safe out there!" he called worriedly.

"Yea sure." Harper waved dismissing the two. //Ridiculous utterly ridiculous.// She ranted to herself for awhile. //Alright alright I just need to calm down.// She was almost tempted to look back shook the idea away.

Hawk made a move to chase her down, but Hunter grabbed his shoulder, yanking him back. "Give it up. You'll freak her out more than you already have."
His brother looked up at him fretfully. "But we can't just leave her! I'll explain to her everything she wants to know, I'll--"
Hunter gave his shoulder a little shove, then turned to walk off. "We don't have time for this. We're in a crisis, remember. If we don't fight to keep the shirts on our backs, we'll lose everything."
Hawk stared wistfully in the direction Harper had gone, forcing himself to stay put.

Harper had moved far and now was ways away from them. Finally she tore to take a look back at the way she came. //Maybe I was a little rough,,, they weren't really that bad...// She thought guilty. //No nevermind them, gotta go as far as I can until the sun sets.// She dismissed the thought and kept moving until she came to another. "Curse this map! Whovever made it should be fired!" She mumbled a few more thing before discerning which way to go.

Hunter placed his hands on his hips as he looked around. "Going back through that forest wouldn't be wise, so we might as well keep going until we find a place to stop for the night. In the morning, we can head back. We'll have to lay low though."

Hunter paused and grimaced, then reached imto his pocket and pulled out a bronze pocket watch which he dangled in front of Hawk. "I took it back. I wasn't going to let them keep it."
Hawk gaped in astonishment. "Hunter! You can't just do that! We needed to pay for lodging and we didn't have any money, so we gave that to them. We can't take it back! They'll throw us in prison for theft!" he yelped.
His brother hid it again and turned away. "Whatever. It's too late now. We'll keep moving and hope things turn out."

Harper had stopped to rest for a short while, her arm now started to bother her. Sighing with relief, she pulled out a pad and paper and started to write a letter.
"Dear family,

I am several long ways from home, the journey is tiring but somewhat exciting. Everything seems to be going fine, just on my way to see our Uncle, I'm sure he'll be able to help out. ~Besides he is family after all.
I hope you you're all doing well, I miss you! Can't wait to see you again.

The duo began to walk down the path, though it would be a little while before they would be able to catch up with Harper.
"Seriously, Hunter," Hawk fretted as his brother looked on, "We need to return this to them. They'll probably demand extra work in return, but at least we'll keep our lives and freedom. Besides, if we run away, we leave behind our jobs - our only source of income - as well as our friends and all we've earned! Hunter, this is--"
"Would you just shut it?" his brother interjected impatienrly, shooting him a dark look. "I wouldn't trade this watch for any of that. We can find new jobs anywhere, and it's not like leaving will kill us. Stop being a wuss," he said with a huff.
Hawk stared at the ground. "I know, but still..."
