The Forgotten

The Forgotten are Fairfins who have failed in savings their Dreamer from nightmare syndrome and now share the same grim fate as their Bond partner...

The Forgotten are hallowed versions of who they once were, they become 'beans of regret' and the weight of their failure in savings their Dreamer is always hunting them. they are often grim, depressed, gloomy, is what common, some show aggression to others because they are bitter at themselves and as the saying goes 'misery loves company'.

Forgotten are often fatigue, and lack energy, they don't take care of themselves, they are disconnected from everything and everyone and just don't care anymore.
They don't even know why they are still alive and keep going ( very depressing Little Critters, they need a hug ( (lots of hugs) ) maybe it's out of nostalgic for the life they ones had with their Dreamer or maybe it's their loyalty to them but they keep going on.

To a Fairfin it is instinctively for them that their sole purpose in life is to care and look out for the Dreamer they are Destin to bond with, they are their closest friend and view them as family, a Fairfin will give up their life to save their Bond partner and if their Dreamer is taking their last breath they will be there with them to the end, this is the Bond of a Fairfin.

The corruption can travel through the link between Dreamer and Fairfin, and when the Dreamer become a Nightmare the light Magic that the Fairfin needs from their Dreamer is gone and replaced with dark magic. The Fairfin becomes sickly and the weight of reality hits them, that they have failed. In their sicken state they will are often seen as hallucinative and still hold on to that their Dreamer not gone or they spiral in a downfall of mourning their loss Dreamer.

It is possible to save a Fairfin from becoming a Forgotten, it their link is cut before the corruption fully overtakes them they can be saved, but they have to be returned to the land of dreams, and taking to a special place called ' Suru Namida' the birth place of the Fairfins...I'll tell you it's located in the 'The lake of Hope' their a ritual bath that can be performed that will remove the darkness in them. But without their Bond partner their life is never the same, the survivors are referred to as 'the tainted' and will be darker in color then normal Fairfins, these Fairfins can still make Bond with someone else but rarely do, because they have already failed ones and fear to repeat it, and no one could ever replace their first bond partner.

The Forgotten population is quite minut in comparison to the Fairfins, not many live through the transformation and even less because their Nightmare will usually kill them. Not only is the Fairfin someone close and dear to the Dreamer but Fairfins are living Light Magic and in the first hour of a Nightmare birth they craving for food is not only of meat and negative emotions but Light Magic, this in between hour is because of the light Eater transitioning from needing Light Magic feed on, to meat and negative emotions that them as a Nightmare now needs.
Fun facts:
It's also why Nightmares like the taste of Fairfins, to them they are sweet and taste pleasing because they are living Light Magic.

If the Nightmare did not kill their Fairfin and they become a Forgotten the desire to eat them is gone, the Forgotten has no more Light in them and are a sad miserable thing. The Nightmare can do a few things with them, they can just kill the Forgotten, they could just abandon it not having no use for them, but in some cases the Nightmare will let the Forgotten follow them around, this is ether because they like the misery little creature and can tormented further or they see some kind of purpose in having it around.

( This is why I always say when giving out Nightmares, the fate of their Forgotten is up to you )

[Forgotten with Nightmares]

Forgotten aren't necessarily good or evil, they are just there...They just drift without a purpose in life but their still loyal even though the Nightmare is not the same person as their Bond partner was, the Nightmare will use them as tools for their own malice intent.
A Nightmare can still use a Forgotten to teleport.

A Forgotten communication with the Fairfin pod would have been cut and is blocked to communicate to them.
a Forgotten signal is different then a Fairfins but It is possible for a Forgotten to speak telepathically to each other or to a Fairfin if they let them.

Just like Fairfins a Forgotten can go invisible and be used as a look out.

some Nightmares get creative in using their Forgotten to do evil Deeds.

'The Hallowed Wood'
is a dense dark forest, most of the Forgotten end up gathering there from over the centuries, the ones who were abandoned or just the ones that are not traveling with their Nightmares at that time, even though they are no longer Fairfins they still have a instinct to group together, they sobs and wails can be hard a long with them sing eerie, ghastly songs of their former lives.

Some Nightmares go and take pleasuring in the suffering and songs of the Forgotten, mocking their former lives as others have a grunge against the Forgotten even though they are not the Fairfins they once were, these Nightmares are usually ones who have been burned before by a Fairfin in an attempt to save their Dreamer.
