Posting this on my main instead of my doodle account because this is important to me.
The monitor broke off my laptop by one hinge. The laptop itself still works fine, everything responds well, I can still log on, except the display on the monitor is fu'cked up now. All I see are vertical lines.
Who here is a computer expert? Is there a way I can fix the monitor without messing with the computer data? And if not, can I still transfer all my data onto another computer?
The Colors! Gallery moderators will look at it as soon as possible.

Darn. That is unfortunate...
Regarding your third question, I believe you can transfer data to a new computer. I'm not sure how that works though... ; (

Laptops can actually be displayed on other kinds of monitors, like HD TVs and such; all you need is an HDMI that fits your pc. And also yes, you can move your stuff over to other computers; you can buy a memory stick(or "flash drive") for about $15 and move stuff you want over with it. That's what I do, atleast...You CAN totally transfer all data over to a new system, but idk how to do that... :^( I think it involves external hard drives...

And also, you can get your monitor fix, but...That would require someone to do it...Do you /really/ want some weirdo looking through your pc files?

I had the exact same problem before, so I can relate. Oof! I never fixed mine, though.
What i do know is that if it's just your monitor, then you don't have to worry about the data. If you can fetch the harddrive from what remains, you can access its content from another PC as external storage (almost like a flash drive).
