Pen is undoubtedly the most valued commander in the Sarabirsk faction. He is well known for his military prowess and has a record of winning battles with very few casualties on his side. Being a very large man, he is also known for being physically intimidating. Besides all of this, Pen is known particularly for forcing his enemies to make extremely difficult choices. For example, there is a tale that Pen gave an opposing commander the option of saving his wife or his daughter.

The opposing commander eventually choose to save his daughter. Being a man of his word, Pen released the man's daughter. The opposing commander was delighted that at least he could have his daughter back. However, the reunion was not very joyful as Pen forced the daughter to carry the decapitated head of her mother as she walked to her father.
