from life, finished at home. While painting this lovely tree I remembered that I did nearly the same pictures two years ago. Nevertheless I thought it could be interesting to compare both pictures and see if there is any "progress" visible. This time I focused on (color) contrast of the brown water with the rest of the scene in bright sunlight. I also stood up to my knees in the water due the flood for getting a more interesting angle. http://colors.collectingsmiles.com/details/4821-Again_in_the_rhine_meadows_by_Splotch.php
Wow, cool painting.
I think, it's much better than your previous attempt.
The color gradient of the water is so lovely and there are interesting and well defined light/shadow areas.
...and, the longer I look at it, the more i like it.
Damn, it almost has a painterly feel to it, all this light stuff going on the lake shore, just gorgeous.
@Splotch: Thank´s for your comments! With a little distance it´s even obvious to me that the older version lacks a lot of things that can be found in the more current version. I guess there is progress, that´s cool! :-)

There is a definite progression as far as craftsmanship and execution of illustration from the first painting to this one. :)
