Bless Capcom for putting a feature where you can catch animals and keep them as pets in monster hunter world.
The downy crake is one of the rare pets and it was a hassle to catch. I only have three and I love them to death.

one of the "rare" pets? RARE!? I HAVN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND THEM UNLESS IT IS WHILE RUNNING FROM JHO OR RATHALOS!!! i still havn't caught any ;-; it seems to be the same with minecraft sheep. when you want it, you can't have it. when you don't want it, the game throws it at you

I've only found these guys once and even then I was looking for them.
I caught mine in the Wildspire Waste and it took days to do.
If you want to catch them, pack your ghillie mask/robe because if the sweet birds see you they'll make a run for it! Go to areas where the big shelled dinosaurs wander to (the area with the ledges is where I caught mine).
Don't follow the dinosaurs! The birds spawn randomly on their backs if the player is looking away from the dinos. You'll hear peeping to know that you've found them. Look up youtube videos for visuals that's what I did

Their cousins are a different story...
I've been trying to catch a Bristly Crake for weeks.
It appeared ONCE for me though, but my ghillie ran out and it ran away from me. I still haven't found any after that.
I got a screenshot of it though.

i didn't know the apceros and aptonoth had to be offscreen for them to spawn. might be why they never spawn with my stairing at the herbivores xD
