"Nope. I've never seen anything past this town," she said, rolling the dice and nudging her hat along. She looked like she was considering buying the street she'd landed on.
I died for an hour because I was trying to send an anon ask to someone and I cried because they're Big And Powerful in the fandom and I was scared anyways what's good (This is King btw if you haven't seen)
(I'm bored of typing usernames so I'm just going to type one letter. XD)
(D)
Sheldon watched her for a moment, reaching out to take the dice. 'Do you want to buy that?' he asked. 'I'm banker.' He smiled a little as he looked at the box filled with plastic money and cards.
Wendigo snarled, hitting the guy hard enough to make him fall over. 'Get a grip on yourselves! That just bugs, for f**k's sake!' Even though he wasn't loyal to Sargon, he was still embarrassed by what incompetent cowards these troops were. 'Urgh. I'd better go tell the Count.'
{The guy falls over, still flailing.} "Hey! They really hurt!" {At that moment, a bug jumped from the guy, and bit Wendigo right on the bridge of his nose.} "BZZZZZ!"
{At dawn, Jerry wakes, rubbing his face. He gets dressed and walks down to the hotel lobby. It's surprisingly empty, except for a member of Jerry's family, posted as a sentry.}
Sheldon, who had squeaked in horror and grabbed the door handle, slowly let his breath out and turned back to the game. He passed Tochi the card for her chosen property and took her money, looking like he was refraining from saying anything rude. 'Five,' he announced after rolling the dice. He moved his piece forwards and gave it back to Tochi.
Wendigo growled and knocked the bug aside, squashing it against a wall. He then marched upstairs to Sargon's office, looking frustrated. 'Sir! I have reports!' he called, knocking on the door.
(Since it's dawn now I'm going to assume that either Sheldon and Tochi are in a slightly behind timeline to everyone else, or they've already been driving a while.)
Ivy was in the lobby, looking disgruntled as she drank from a paper cup of cheap coffee. She wasn't good with mornings, and didn't acknowledge Jerry when he came in.
Armin was fast asleep in one of the empty hotel rooms upstairs, and Frederick was nowhere to be seen.
{As Wendigo was knocking, more commotion came from below.} "Yeah! The fire mages are here! Burn those little bas.ta.rds! Wait, THAT'S TOO CLOSE TO THE FUEL!" {Suddenly, a massive explosion that rocks the whole building is heard, followed by the PA system.} "Now hear this, fire control team to the barracks. I repeat, fire control team to the barracks."
Ignoring the explosion, Wendigo stepped into Sargon's office. The old vampire was standing by one of the massive windows, gazing down at the city below. He turned when Wendigo came in.
'I don't suppose it has anything to do with that noise?' he said.
The dragonshifter winced. 'Uh, well, it looks like those bugs got in and destroyed the food again, Sir. The idiots down there tried to burn them and set fire to most of the ground floor. The water mages have it sorted out soon enough.'
But Sargon didn't seem concerned by the fire. 'The stores were attacked again... then that means...'
Wendigo watched in surprise as the Count abruptly marched out of the room, conjuring a long, thin sword as he went. 'Supervise the fire control,' he ordered. 'I have to go out. Give me the rest of your report when I return.'
'Sir.' Wendigo bowed his head, a smile playing about his lips. He had a feeling he knew what the Count was worried about.
Sheldon rolled the dice again, not waiting to see if Tochi would buy the thing she'd landed on. 'Not exactly children...' he muttered, not loud enough for Caroline or Henry would hear. He bought another property, leaving himself with almost no money.
{Jerry nodded at Ivy and sat next to her.} "So, you're coming with us?"
{From the opposite side of the room, Dianne enters, looking rather tired. She's dressed in black armor, but her arms are mostly exposed and the gauntlets don't cover her fingers. The armor has strange engravings and the shell locket Jerry gave her is tied to her belt. Under her arm, she holds folded robes, and in her other hand, she holds a wooden mask.}
Ivy sniffed loudly and took a sip from her coffee, wincing at the taste. 'I don't care. I will if you want me to.' Saying nothing else, she got up and went to the hotel kitchen to throw the drink away. 'Where's the vampire boys?' she called out over her shoulder, giving no reaction to Dianne.
"I don't know." {Jerry says.} "Sleeping in, I guess?" Dianne: "They're wasting time. Every second we don't take care of this is another second the curse has to spread." {Suddenly, the Old Man and a sleepy eyed Eliza appear from the stairwell.} Old Man: "Well, someone's got to get those two up." Eliza: "I'll get Armin..." Dianne: "I'll send someone to check on his supposed son. Assuming he hasn't skipped town."
'That's... true,' said Sheldon, breaking up the words with a huge yawn. He rolled again, passing the Start space and collecting 200 dollars. 'Uhm, don't hate me or anything if I fall asleep. I haven't slept all night.'
@Draco (So uh I forgot where everyone went so I hope this is okay??) Keenan looks to Thorn, having watched the Illusionist take care of Ruscar. "Hey, we should go find Ango an' that. They shouldn't be far, they'll be easier to find now that the sun's coming up." He vaults out the window, kicking around the broken glass a little as he waits.
Toby bolts in the direction Ango and Emilia took, sniffing around and borking at Jed while following their trail.
Ango doesn't stop running until she thinks they're far enough away and her lungs threaten to give way. She finally stops, gulping down air and finally letting go of her mother's hand. She looks up at Emilia, her heart sinking as she realises she hadn't responded to anything that had happened and had simply followed Ango. Internally, she hits herself for not remembering to pick up any medication while they were in the hospital, but that was a problem they'd have to think about later. "Mum...Mum are you okay?" She breathes, taking both her hands. "Hm...? Oh, Ango...Where are we? I must have dozed off for a moment there..." Emilia mumbles distractedly. Ango grimaces slightly. "We...we're still on the way out of the city. Y'know, because we've...we've never been outside the city before and now's the perfect time to go!" She manages a smile, not wanting to lie but knowing that it was the best for this situation.
Sargon left the tower, completely ignoring the dead bugs, fire and chaos filling the lower floors. As soon as he was outside, he transformed himself into a peregrine falcon and flew off to where the ruins of Dianne's street still lay.
"Magnus!" {Called Dianne.} Magnus: "MMMMmmmmmyyyeeeeeeeessssss???" {Magnus replied, stepping from behind a pillar.} Dianne: "Take Ivy and go check on Frederick. If he's still here, bring him back with you. And make sure Ivy gets back in one piece." Magnus: "Will do." {Turns to Ivy.} "After you, m'lady."
Armin mumbled something in his sleep, rolled over, then seemed to wake up slightly. 'Who's that?' he shouted through the door. He scrambled out of bed and started looking for his clothes.
'Mhm... I might. Just for a few minutes.' Sheldon eyed the game board, then carefully leaned back into his seat. 'Don't sneak out of jail while I'm not looking...' he said jokingly.
@Draco Keenan starts off, pausing beside the werewolf's body and nudging his head with his foot. "Y'know, I've only just realised who this is. Ruscar sommat-or-other, on the news years ago for attacking someone in the street, then this whole domestic abuse thing got released and he got locked up. Didn't realise he was Ango's dad. They look nothing alike."
He paces around, sniffing close to a pile of rubble and recoiling back in surprise as he realises there's an arm sticking out from under it, yelping slightly.
'Alright, alright, I'm coming,' said Armin. He got dressed quickly and pulled the door open. 'Hey, it's barely even dawn. Do we need to go out THIS early?' he complained lightheartedly.
----
'Yeah, sounds like an exciting life,' Ivy muttered, heading for the hotel door.
With a sigh, Armin followed her back into the hotel lobby, rubbing his eyes and still looking half-asleep. 'So, what are we doing on this lovely day?' he asked when he saw Jerry and Dianne there.
'I heard that,' Ivy growled. 'And let me tell you, my life has gotten a LOT more exciting in the last few days.' She looked around the mostly deserted village, wondering where Frederick might be. She decided to head to the inn where they'd first met him yesterday.
{Magnus walks up to the Inn door and knocks.} "Fred! Time to go! That curse won't recall itself!" {Turning to Ivy, Magnus grins.} "You got recruited by hunters, so what? It's not like You're an expert yet. I doubt Jerry will even decide to bring a greenhorn like you."
Armin stared back at Dianne with no expression. 'Well, it wouldn't hurt to at least try for some optimism.' He then turned to Jerry. 'I'm ready if everyone else is.' Yawning, he leaned against a wall.
---- 'Ooh, think you know everything, do you?' said Ivy snidely. When nobody answered from inside the inn, she pushed past Magnus and hammered on the door herself. 'Hey! Hurry up and get out of there! I'm not waiting on you all day!'
Moments later, the door opened and Frederick came out, flanked by his two werewolves. He glared at Magnus. 'My name is not 'Fred'.'
Looking annoyed, Frederick walked past Magnus and Ivy and went inside the inn. 'I'm here,' he said shortly. 'And I have a message from Wendigo. He says that Sargon just recently left Atlas Tower to find his right-hand's body. I suggest we hurry up and go over there now.'
{Dianne gives Frederick the same glare she gave his father.} "Really? So, the importance of time is why you decided to sleep in?" Jerry: "Ok, ok, look, we've all been pulling some late nights recently and we're all grumpy from sleep deprivation, so let's just get going before we're all taking swings at each other, ok?"
'I didn't sleep in. I overslept. There's a difference,' said Frederick.
'Aaannywayyy...' said Armin loudly, before a fight could break out. 'We need to get there quickly. A car wouldn't be fast enough and we won't all fit. Dianne, are you going to be transport again?'
"Ok, Frederick, I see, rather than a severe lack of urgency, you possess a severe lack of discipline? Is that right?" {Dianne says, her voice dripping with contempt. Giving Armin a withering look, Dianne hands her disguise to Jerry and walks out the door.} "Fine. Let's go."
Frederick flushed. 'Better than possessing a severe lack of manners,' he growled. 'And I only overslept a little.'
'Now I know for sure that you're my son,' said Armin, rolling his eyes as he strode past. Everyone followed Dianne outside. Ivy was still out there, waiting impatiently.
{Flipping Frederick the bird behind her back, Dianne transforms into her dragon form. The armor she was wearing has scaled up to fit her new form.} "Get on. Magnus, while I'm gone, continue the preparations. I want HQ established and all those fields scuttled when I get back, understand?" Magnus: "It will be done m'lady."
Frederick made no comment as he climbed up, Armin waited until everyone else had mounted before climbing on himself. 'I'll be a hawk once we're inside the city,' he said, 'but I'm too lazy to fly all the way there.'
Ivy hesitated for a moment, looking up at the others. 'Where do you want me to be, boss?' she yelled up at Jerry.
Jerry: "Find Bob when he wakes up. Either continue your training, or help with the sabotage effort. If Dianne's attack on their food was a success last night, Sargon might look to this location as a alternative food source."
{With that, Dianne flaps her wings and takes to the skies, headed for the city of Shacklestone.}
{As Sargon is doing whatever it is he's doing, a telepathic message comes through from a commander.} //Sir, we might have a problem...other than the food....and the fuel exploding....AND Anastasia's disappearance..."
Ivy nodded and waved as Dianne took flight. Yawning, she wandered back into the hotel. 'Why did I even bother to wake up?' she grumbled.
----
//And what might that be?// Sargon responded, his telepathic voice sounding calm and concerned. No matter how angry he was, he had become skilled at hiding it, especially from his troops.
//Uuuuhh.....Couple dozen of us have come down with an illness....looks like the flu......And it looks like it might be spreading....We might have to postpone our march to the Sovereign until this flu bug blows over...//
{Dianne flies towards Shacklestone, but does not land in the city. Rather, she lands in the forest.} "We walk from here." {She declares.} "And we enter through the storm drains, not the front gate."
{The warmth of the morning sun coming through the window wakes Pythia gently. Stirring from her sleep, she gets up and gets ready for the day. From the front entrance, comes the noise of someone stumbling in.} Afflicted: "Priestess! I am ill, and seek refuge within your temple!" {Pythia, not quite dressed, speaks to the poor man from her room, rather than walking out to meet him.} Pythia: "I will be right with you. All are welcome in the presence of Symponia." {As she finished dressing, however, the noise of the man becomes distress.} "Sir?" {Walking out to check on him, Pythia is met with a horrendous sight. There was the man, veins black, and vomiting blood. Pythia did nothing; could do nothing, for the man was doomed. Only Dianne could have saved him, and Pythia knew this well. Flanking each doorway, was a pair of statues. Activating the ones at the door where the man lay dead, a ward is formed, sealing off the room. Shaking with fear, Pythia retreats to her room and collapses, sobbing in the corner.} "Why? W-why would she do this?" {After a fair time of this, Pythia finds her resolve. Standing, she takes a book from her shelf: A book with a skull and blue flowers, the very mark Dianne bears upon her back. Taking to the skies with the book in hand, Pythia sets out to end this plague.}
{Magnus grins at Ivy.} "Told ya he wouldn't bring you. C'mon, Bob's not up yet, and I've only got three draugrs under me. Let's go p.iss off Sargon some more!"
//The flu?// Sargon took a moment to think. He doubted this was regular flu, which most non-humans were, if not immune to, then more resilient to. The thought that it might be dangerous crossed his mind. //Take all of the sick people and give them rooms somewhere. Do not let them come into contact with anyone who's well.//
Frederick jumped down to the ground, saying nothing. His eyes moved to take in their surroundings. 'I will be disguised,' he said. 'If we meet anyone, I can't let them know I'm with you.' With that, he transformed himself into a dog (a Doberman) and started leading the way to the storm drains.
Armin yawned. 'I'll just fly above,' he said, turning into his hawk form and taking off.
(Yo, let me know when Sargon gets to Dianne's house.)
{Jerry, the Old Man, and Eliza all disguise themselves as vampires while Dianne puts on the robes and mask over her armor. Now disguised, the group heads for the storm drains.}
'Dark Magic...?' Ivy spoke slowly, seeming to taste the words in her mouth. 'Well, I've never USED it, of course. But I've read a little about it, and I know that Dianne can... control spirits, and things. Why? What's so important about it?'
(Aggron - Sure thing. I'm going to wait a bit for Jerry/Armin and Co. to get into the city first.)
Frederick bounded on ahead, slowing his pace and moving cautiously once they reached the storm drains. He stopped and waited for the others to catch up. //Someone else can lead the way from here,// he said telepathically. //I've never been this way before.// High above them, Armin circled for a moment before flying over the city walls and vanishing from sight.
{Chuckling, Magnus hands Ivy a small, engraved seed.} "See this seed? It has been imbued with dark decay magic. When put into the ground and activated, it will kill all plant life within its effective range."
Magnus: “Sargon, now deprived of food, might want to capture this location for its numerous crops. Clearly, we don’t possess the numbers to hold this town against his army, so, the play is to remove these resources before Sargon can claim them.”
'What about us, though?' Ivy objected. 'We'll need food too. And when this is all over and the townsfolk move back here, there won't be anything left for them.'
{Dianne leads the way through the storm drains. Stopping at a ladder a fair distance under the city, she turns to doggo Frederick.} “So, are you going to climb like a man, or will I have to carry you as a mutt?”
Magnus: “We have food. Besides, The townsfolk are taking refuge in the Sovereign City, they’ll be fine. On top of that, these seeds might kill plant life, but it fertilizes the soil, so the next harvest will be huge.”
'Mhm... alright, then,' said Ivy, still sounding uncertain. 'So, we're just going to run around town and stick these seed things into the ground? Maybe we ought to split up. We could cover the area faster that way.'
Frederick gave her a baleful glare before transforming back into his human form. 'I don't need to be carried by anyone.' With that, he brushed past Dianne and started to swiftly ascend the ladder. 'Sure you can manage with your injuries, or will you need help?' he called back over his shoulder.
{As soon as Frederick said that, a smoky mass rushed past him and went through the cracks between the street and the manhole cover. Materializing on the street above, she lifts the metal cover for everyone climbing.} "You are a fool to think me feeble."
{Magnus produces a basket of the seeds.} "Yup. Take a few handfuls and take Bufo with you. Plant the seeds in a straight line a thousand feet apart." {The moment he said "Bufo" a draugr appeared.}
Frederick pulled himself up through the manhole and onto the grimy street, giving Dianne another baleful look but otherwise ignoring her.
Suddenly, Armin flew down in his hawk form and landed on Dianne's shoulder. //I just saw Sargon,// he announced to everyone. //He's about halfway between Atlas Tower and your place, Dianne. He's probably going there to dig up Ana's maggot-riddled corpse.//
'Not a problem,' said Ivy, smiling evilly as she took as many seeds as she could carry. She threw the draugr a suspicious glance, then started walking. 'I'll start on the south side of town!' she called out over her shoulder as she left.
Jerry: "Good. We can get into Atlas tower undetected." {Dianne takes a moment before speaking.} "I can feel the curse. It's spread across the city, but a good bit of it...is there." {Dianne points to the tower.}
//Let's go there first, then,// said Armin. //Since as Sargon's already out.// He didn't take flight again, instead staying balanced on Dianne's shoulder.
Frederick started to walk, heading in the direction of the tower without looking to see if the others were following him.
Ivy hummed cheerfully to herself as she went to her chosen part of town and began to plant the first batch of seeds, wondering how quickly they worked. //Will they start to kill everything the moment I plant them?// she thought as she dug a small hole and dropped a seed inside. She had been completely ignoring the draugr.
Finally reaching Dianne's house, Sargon stood and stared at the destruction the lay before him. Most of the house and the large office building beside it had been crushed, rubble and dust filling most of the street. He carefully stepped over a piece of rock and made his way over to the demolished office block. His face remained emotionless, but deep down he felt a stirring of unease. Anastasia couldn't be dead... could she? Had Dark Brink's powers failed her?
{The draugr really didn't talk, other than directing Ivy how far a thousand feet was. It seems that Magnus was different from Dianne's other draugrs in that he still possessed some semblance of his original personality.}
{Not far from Sargon, Pythia lands and looks in horror on the rubble of Dianne's house.} "No, no, NO! Dam.nit! Dianne!" {Pythia runs up to the destroyed property, still in dragon form, looking to see if she had perished, oblivious to Sargon's presence.}
'Yes,' said Frederick as they approached the tower. 'But we have to split up here anyway. I'm going inside to help the troops. According to Wendigo's message, there's been some sort of incident in there. That should keep them distracted. Wait five minutes after I'm gone, then come into the tower, but don't let anyone see you.' With that, he strode off towards the building and let himself in through the main doors.
//Helpful, isn't he?// sighed Armin. //Listen, I'm pretty sure there's another door around the back of the building. We can use that one instead of the front doors.//
Ivy continued working until she had used up all of her seeds. 'Well,' she said, 'time to go and find Magnus or whatever his name was!' She dusted her hands off and began to walk to the north side of town, keeping an eye out for him.
Sargon noticed Pythia, but wasn't worried by her. He knew that she didn't condone violence and so she wouldn't have been responsible for Ana's disappearance. He picked his way through the rubble to the ruined office block. Upon seeing that there was no way he could move the wreckage, he sent a telepathic message to one of his commanders in the tower. //Please send a team of dragons and a team of necromancers to me.//
{Magnus was out in the middle of the field with the two remaining draugrs and a few of Jerry's family. As Ivy approached, he spoke.} "Heh, hey Ivy, do you know what this is?" {Magnus holds up a strangely engraved coconut.}
//Yes sir. A team is on its way// {Pythia, finding no body in the rubble, gives up searching. Finally noticing Sargon, her fear turns to anger.} "Hey! The woman who lived here, where is she? Please tell me she's not dead!"
Armin, still on Dianne's shoulder, showed them the way to the back door. It was small and dingy, the plants around it overgrown. It was obvious that people rarely used it.
//It should be safe,// he said. //It opens into a disused corridor at the back of the ground floor. You can find your way around from there. Wait, are you all disguised?//
(Aggron) ' Ivy walked over to him. 'It's a coconut,' she said sarcastically. 'No, obviously it's something more than a coconut, but I don't know what it is.'
'I have no idea,' said Sargon expressionlessly. He paused in his search, standing on top of a piece of rubble that made him taller than Pythia. 'But since as my right-hand follower, Anastasia, has disappeared, I would hazard a guess that Dianne escaped.'
//I should have asked Brink about Ana's new abilities,// he thought. //I did not know their limits. Perhaps she still wasn't strong enough to take on Dianne and survive...//
{Pythia shakes her head.} " You bloody idiot. You might have killed us all. I couldn't understand why she'd do it, but now I do. The curse will spread, and there's nothing we can do to stop it!"
'What are you talking about?' Sargon said, his red eyes narrowing in sudden interest. 'What is this curse you speak of?' //Does this have something to do with Dianne?//
While they had been talking, Wendigo had showed up, in his dragon form. The other dragons and necromancers hadn't arrived yet, but he'd come early, wanting to know what had happened to Ana. He circled lazily high above the street, waiting for Sargon's permission to come down.
{Pythia turns back into her human form and opens the book she's holding.} "This morning, a man, one of your own, came in to my temple. He was afflicted with this." {Pythia shows Sargon the book, which depicts the origin, the spread, and the stages of the curse.} "A few nights ago, Dianne needed treatment. As I healed her, saw this mark..."{Pythia closes the book and shows Sargon the symbol on the cover.} "...Tattooed upon her back." "Sargon.... you have no idea what she is, do you? "
{Everyone had been disguised, with the humans all disguised as vampires and Dianne completely covered by her robes and bearing her wooden mask modeled after the dragon priest Volsung.} Jerry: "We're good. Let's go."
Sargon studied the strange mark. 'No, I do not,' he said after a short pause. //Those troops who were sick. They must have this curse,// he thought, realising that it could be spreading inside his tower even now. 'You clearly know things about her that neither me nor my people do. Perhaps you might explain?'
Armin took the lead. Jumping down from Dianne, he shifted himself into what looked like an ordinary domestic cat, allowing him to walk on the ground and open doors. Pushing open the unused door, he cautiously advanced inside. The ground floor of the tower seemed quiet, though there was a strange smell of burning and spoiled food lingering in the air.
{Following Armin, the group stays quiet.} Jerry: "Ugh, smells like your attack worked." Dianne: "Of course it did. These idiots had no idea what they were up against, let alone how to combat it."
Armin paused halfway down the corridor, listening intently. //Where are we supposed to be going?// he asked the group telepathically. //The infected people could be anywhere in here.//
{Pythia sighs.} "Very well. for the sake of this city, I will tell you what I know. The woman you know as Dianne isn't what she appears to be. In the beginning, you probably assumed she was just a dragon necromancer with a decent bit of power, but she is much more than that. She once belonged to a group of necromancers known simply as The Will of Death. The reason they....she is so magically potent is because death itself has granted her domain over the next world. That group possessed many cruel and unspeakable ways to end life in order to "bring balance" to the world, and the curse she has unleashed upon you is merely one. It can't be cured, it can't be reasoned with, it can't be stopped unless the original caster voluntarily recalls it. And seeing how you've treated her..." {She motions towards Dianne's ruined house.} "...I don't think you've given her much reason to..."
Magnus: "It's going straight into the middle of the field. When activated, it will cause a chain reaction with the smaller ones that will wipe the fields clean. You ready? Make sure you don't have any of those seeds in your pockets or anything. If it's activated, and it's touching your skin, it will eat right through you."
Sargon was silent for a long moment, apparently digesting Pythia's story. Then he jumped down from the piece of rubble and calmly walked up to her. 'I doubt that Dianne could create a curse to specifically target people who are under MY command. Therefore, this plague that she has unleashed will kill all other people, too. Will she care? Will she recall the curse to save everyone, or will she allow them to die, simply so that I die along with them?' He tilted his head and watched Pythia with expressionless red eyes.
Ivy frowned and dug a hand into her pockets. 'I don't have any. Activate that thing! I want to see what happens!' She looked as excited as a five-year-old at a firework display.
//Right-o,// said Armin breezily, and started to lead the way up to the second floor. As they went up the stairs, it seemed as though this floor was deserted as well; all of Sargon's troops must have been elsewhere. Armin walked up a corridor and paused in front of a locked door. //I can smell people in this room. They smell weird. Like they're infected with something.//
{Getting a little unnerved by Sargon's expressionless gaze, Pyhia takes a step back} "G-given her track record, and the fact that most of the people who remain are //your// men, I'm willing to bet she won't care."
'Even so', the Count persisted. 'Won't the curse spread beyond Shacklestone City? It could kill everyone in the country. It could even reach Sovereign's City. It would leave behind a mass of bodies and a land that might never harbour life again. And you say that she won't care? I know you disapprove of what I've done, Pythia, but tell me, isn't what Dianne has done worse?'
{Dianne caught the scent too.} Dianne: "It is too late for these ones. The curse has already run its course." {Grabbing the door handle, Dianne turns to the group.} "Steel your minds, for the sight that awaits you is not for the faint of heart." {Forcing the door open, the room behind it is filled with the corpses of the infected, veins black, and drenched in their own blood. The blood covered everything: The floors, the walls, to the point where one might assume a massacre had taken place.} Eliza: "...I think I'm going to be sick...." Jerry: "....Well....Thanks for the nightmares.....I don't think I'll ever be able to unsee this...." Old Man: "...Real pretty...(Sarcasm)"
Armin, still in cat form, stared into the room for a long moment without saying anything. Then he walked over to an open window further along the corridor, shifted into his normal self, and was violently sick.
'I suggest you go and find her,' said Sargon, 'and persuade her to withdraw this curse. Otherwise, far more than my people are going to die.' With that, he climbed back onto the rubble and watched the sky for his approaching troops.
{Magnus digs a hole in the ground and drops the coconut in.} "Heheheh, watch this." {Burying the coconut, Magnus utters some unknown words. As soon as he did, all plant life started to die and wither away in a circle around the coconut. The circle began to spread outward bigger and bigger, soon to envelope the whole field.}
Ivy yelped and jumped backwards as a thicket of plants next to her foot suddenly withered away. She stared around wildly, seeing that the entire field had been consumed by the same dark power. 'That was awesome!' she said. 'Not that I enjoy killing plants, of course... I'm just thinking of Sargon's face if he ever comes here and sees THIS.'
{Kneeling down, Dianne put her finger into the blood. Uttering something under her breath, a darker colored red liquid comes from the bodies and moves to her finger. As it touches her, it absorbs into her and disappears. Getting up after the task was done, Dianne closes the door.} ".....Sorry you had to see that...I was hoping to never have to see it myself ever again....."
'Thanks for the warning, at least,' Armin groaned, returning from the window and throwing a quick glance at the now-closed door where the bodies were concealed. 'Are there more of them somewhere?'
'If she refuses,' said Sargon flatly, 'then I will be taking my people somewhere else. Another country. To keep them safe. We won't be taking over Vallis with this curse in effect. Which I am sure will make you happy, but you won't have long to enjoy it.'
Dianne: "Not here, in the tower. There are more to the east." {Eliza turned green, and was looking delirious, leaning against the wall. Jerry was considerably paler, standing, muttering, and looking away, as if trying to get some mental grip. Only the Old Man seemed the least affected, leaning with his arms crossed, waiting for everyone to recover.}
{Pythia looks up at Sargon.} "Do you honestly think she'll just forget about you? Every communicable disease has a form of transport. The Bubonic Plague had rats, Malaria has mosquitos, this one uses corpses. Walking corpses. Run as far as you want, but if she really wants you dead, her draugrs, infected with this curse will always be right behind you."
Armin eyed Eliza. 'The window's that way if you want to be sick too,' he offered in a friendly tone.. 'If not, I think we should maybe get moving. There might be people out there who we can actually help.'
Sargon looked back at her. 'If Dianne plans to send her infected minions to the ends of the earth to find me, then we have an even greater problem on our hands. She will destroy everything and everyone. When others hear about her, they will join me, wanting to put an end to her. It will result in a worldwide war.'
"That's assuming she doesn't catch you." {Pythia grumbles.} "I'm going to find her. Here are some things you ought to know. If she dies, the curse does not die with her, and you lose the only cure, so do us all a favor and tell your underlings not to engage. Also, //never// burn the infected bodies. Fire causes this thing to become airborne, and it'll be harder to contain. If you ever have to move a body, never touch it. Use someone with telekinesis. Next time I see you, hopefully I'll have good news." {With that, She shifts back to dragon form and flies away.}
"I'll be ok..." {Eliza says softly} "...I hope..." {Jerry shakes himself off.} "Ok, ok, let's get back out there and fix this....And when we're done, I'mma make Oliver regret this....'Cause damn....Dat's f*&ked up..."
Not watching Pythia leave, the Count looked up at the sky again. //Where are the people I sent for?// he asked the commander he'd spoken to before. //I need dragons to help shift this rubble...//
Wendigo flew down and landed on top of the ruins, not speaking. He had heard most of Sargon and Pythia's conversation, and was unnerved by the thought that this could lead to global destruction.
Armin placed a hand briefly on Eliza's shoulder, then moved away and looked at Jerry with grim amusement. 'Oliver's the one to blame? It was HER who created this curse thing.' He jerked his head in Dianne's direction.
(Oh, man, as I supposed to control those guys? Whoops. XD) //Sorry. sir. There were complications... They should be on their way now.// {From the tower comes a group of dragons.}
Jerry: "Hey, it wasn't her-- " Dianne: "No, Jerry, he's right. It is my fault." {She stated in an accepting tone.} "Had I just dealt with my own emotional baggage instead of taking the easy way out, Oliver would have had nothing to steal. Directly or not, this is my doing." {Without another word, she walks back towards the entrance.}
(I didn't really mind who controls them, I probably should've said that. XD I'll control the necromancer group, since you have a lot to do already.)
Sargon looked up as he heard the wing-beats of the approaching fleet of dragons. Riding on their backs were nine necromancers, mostly all young and inexperienced ones. Anastasia had trained many of them personally.
'Here,' said Sargon once the dragons were close enough to hear. He indicated the pile of rubble that had once been the office block. 'Move this.'
Armin blinked. 'Hmm. I've never seen her agree with someone before.' With that, he shifted back into a cat so he couldn't be recognised, and hurried after Dianne.
{The group follows after Dianne, with the Old Man helping Eliza along, who was still a bit queasy.} Jerry: "Hey, the curse might be gone from that location and all, but I hope to God Fred doesn't open that door."
Sargon stood back and watched the dragons. 'Something important,' he said shortly. 'You will see if we find it.' He began to help the dragons, moving smaller pieces of rubble and tossing them aside. Gradually, the pile grew smaller.
Armin looked momentarily worried, then shrugged, as much as a cat can shrug. //We can warn him if we see him. I think he'd probably smell them from the corridor and have the sense not to look inside.//
'Yep.' Ivy hesitated as she surveyed the field, then she looked up at Magnus. 'Oh, I meant to ask you something. Why are you so different from the other zombies? The others are just like mindless monsters, but you seem to be almost a person.'
{The dragons worked, moving the rubble at a good pace, until one of the dragons moves back in surprise.} "Uh, sir, there's body under here!" {He says while pointing at a patch of blue scales showing from beneath the rubble.}
"Here's hoping..." {Jerry says nervously. As they walked, Dianne was very quiet, seemingly deep in thought. The group walked until the reached an odd stone building.} Dianne: "In here..."
{At the question, Magnus just smiles.} "That, my dear, is a complicated question. Come, our job here is done. Let's discuss this somewhere nicer." {With that, Magnus begins to walk away.}
Ivy glared after him, then huffed loudly and followed the draugr reluctantly. 'Fine, be all mysterious then,' she muttered under her breath. 'As long as you tell me.'
Sargon climbed higher onto the mountain of rubble and saw, just as the dragon had indicated, a swath of blue half-hidden under dust and stone. He began to work quickly, pushing aside larger pieces of rubble, ordering the dragons to help with the biggest pieces.
Finally, most of Anastasia's form was revealed. The witch dragon was in a horrible state. Her skull had been crushed, caved in on one side, and her jaw broken. Great wounds covered half her body, some from Dianne, others from being crushed under the building. She was undoubtedly dead.
Armin shifted back to human form and edged away from the building uncertainly. 'Now, wait a minute. What are we going to find in there? Because if it's more of those things, I'm getting out of here.'
{Finding a nice, abandoned cafe, Magnus sits down at a table.} "Ok, so, as you know, I am a draugr. As you've already noticed, not all of us are great.....conversationalists. So, why am I such a talking head? Well, to understand that , you need to know what a draugr is. We are essentially, a human, or other, soul bound to a body to create a type of minion, for lack of a better word."
{One of the dragons gazes upon Ana's body with horror.} "My god, what happened? She was a twenty footer, master of magic...What kind of being could do this?"
'Right,' said Ivy, nodding; she'd guessed most of this herself already. 'Draugrs are minions. And they're bound to a... a corpse, and controlled by the person who bound them? What about you, then?'
Armin hung back, curious to know what was inside the room, but not actually wanting to go and look. He turned to Jerry and Eliza instead. 'What d'you think's in there?'
'A being like her, but even larger and more powerful,' murmured Sargon. He knelt down beside Ana's head and looked into her eyes, which were still open, gazing sightlessly up at the morning sky. 'But I have a solution of sorts. Are the necromancers here?' he said, a new sharpness to his voice.
On hearing Sargon's command, the group of necromancers stepped forwards and bowed. They all looked terrified, having already guessed what he was going to ask them to do. 'Y-yes, my Lord?' one of them said.
Meanwhile, Wendigo watched with mounting horror. //They're reviving Ana! She might be even more powerful as an undead than she was before... I have to tell Frederick...//
Jerry: "More nightmare fuel, I reckon." Eliza: "I don't want to think about it..." Old man: "Nay, there is no smell, and it's too far from Atlas tower, which I assume was ground zero. I don't think it's the same situation as last time."
{Magnus nods.} "Yeah, that's accurate. Well, I'm that as well. You see, the necromancer, that being Dianne in this case, basically decides the amount of autonomy their minions receive. Dianne really doesn't like underlings to have too much power, so that's why my associates seem...a few short of a sixpack, if you catch my drift. Now, I know what your thinking, "then how are you here and how come you never shut up"? Well, in necromancer lingo, I am what is known as a 'strong soul'. Basically, my will is so strong, I'm able to fight through most of her restrictions, much to her annoyance. Heheheheheh!"
'You're right about there being no smell,' said Armin. 'Maybe there really isn't anything in there.' Cautiously, he advanced towards the building that Dianne had entered and poked his head around the doorway.
Ivy's brow furrowed as she took it all in. 'Sooo, Dianne knows she can't fully control you, but she keeps you around anyway? If it were me, I'd have gotten sick of you and let you go by now.'
Wendigo launched himself off the ground and up into the sky, wanting to be as far away as possible for what came next. Sargon didn't comment on his disappearance.
'Necromancers,' he said, 'I wish for you to revive Anastasia. Make her as powerful as you can, and give her back as much of her mind and intelligence as you can. Do not bind her to yourselves. Keep her free, so that I can control her at my will.'
The team of dark magicians nodded, most of them looking beyond uneasy, and stepped forwards. They formed a ring around Ana's corpse and began to mutter unheard words.
//I think there is someone else who ought to see this...//
Straightening up, Sargon called out, 'Dark Brink!'
@Rad/Aggron //I was wondering when you would call.// The spirit appears in it's spectral form to Sargon's side, a hint of scorn in it's voice and it's grin twisted into a slight grimace. //I felt her power detach from myself. I would have had Mortikai come to investigate what happened, but he's...tied up with a previous engagement.// It swims a little higher in the air to gaze at the massive carcass of the blue dragon. //This I had not forseen. Whoever did this must be quite powerful to be able to take down one of my.../our/ strongest.// There is a slight tone of excitement in the dark spirit's voice at that last sentence.
Sargon eyed the dark spirit. 'She /was/ very powerful,' he said quietly. 'A dragon necromancer by the name of Dianne. She and Ana fought... Where Dianne is now, I do not know, but Ana is dead, and I am forced to bring her back through... unorthodox methods.' He gestured to the muttering necromancers. 'I confess, I am surprised that the power you gave her wasn't enough to stop her death.'
{Magnus chuckles.} "Blunt, but fair. Yes, my personality can be trying at times, but I know why she keeps me around. I'm a useful tool. In life, I was a decorated tactician, a master of the blades, a mighty king, and an ally to her. However, I'm not so sure I consider her my friend anymore. Friends don't keep their friends from seeing their families in the afterlife for so long..."
{As Armin poked his head in, there was a body on the ground in the lobby. It was a human woman. She was alive but unconscious, with her black veins fading.}
'Ha,' said Ivy quietly, though there was no amusement in her voice. 'I guess you're just another wretched servant, then. Forced to do whatever she wants you to. Sounds like a pretty miserable way to live.' She smirked a little at her own joke, because of course Magnus wasn't 'living'.
{Magnus just looks off into space.} "Yeah. If you can call this existence life..." {Shaking such thoughts from his mind, he turns to Ivy.} "Anyway, what about you? Why are you sticking around with these hunters, rather than running for Sovereigns city?"
@Rad/Aggron //It's only unorthodox if you disagree with it.// Dark Brink's grin curls tight as it descends back down to his level. //And yes, I agree. I, too, am surprised. By all means, she should have prevailed, even if another is of similar strength. And if she had my power behind her, then the odds were even more in her favour.// The spirit sits in the air as if it were human - arms crossed with one "hand" on it's chin and one leg crossed over the other - despite it looking somewhat awkward due to it's feline front and lack of hind legs in it's spirit form. //This is curious...very curious.//
'Yeah...' Armin kept staring at the unconscious woman. 'I'm guessing she's not contagious anymore and it's safe to go near her. I wonder who she was. She's human.'
Ivy hummed quietly in a thoughtful sort of way, then said, 'Well, I really didn't WANT to run away like everyone else. I've lived in Shacklestone City all my life, and these evil people DESTROYED it. It's my home... and my family and everyone are probably all dead...' She gazed off in the direction of the city, her eyes narrowing. 'I suppose I just wanted to do something to help.'
'I don't care how curious it is,' said Sargon with a touch of impatience. 'When Ana is revived, I will have to remember to be more careful about what I ask her to do... Clearly your powers were not enough.' He looked back at the witch dragon's body, still unresponsive as the necromancers worked over her. 'You may go now, if you wish. But I will be calling you back soon to give me MY reward.'
"She was just another unfortunate victim." {Said Dianne as she reappeared. Cradled in her arm was a human infant.} "I found her in the other room, with a note. She knew she was going to die, so she isolated herself from her child, hoping someone well would find it."
{Magnus nods.} "I see. You are but a civilian, brought up in a civilized world, no combat experience, and out of your element. Just what do you believe you can contribute to this fight?"
Ivy glared up at him. 'I don't know! I know that I don't have any combat experience or anything else you just said, but that doesn't mean I can't try. I can train. I can get better. Who knows, maybe one day I'll save ALL of your sorry backsides and then you'll know how much I'm worth.'
@Rad/Aggron The spirit growls softly at Sargon's comment about it's power. How /dare/ this mortal being insult him so?! //Well, if you doubt my power so much, I suppose I'll save it just for you. I was going to offer my help, since these necromancers simply aren't doing their job quick enough for you...but I think you'll settle fine enough.// It goes to leave, then pauses, grinning. //I wonder if she'll like you more for reviving her? Or will she hate you for sending her to her death?// With a dark chuckle, it disappears.
{Magnus laughs.} "Do you see that there? That undying determination an defiance against impossible odds. That unwillingness to just accept whatever fate's laid out before you? That is why Sargon will lose his war against humanity. Humans are a stubborn and unyielding race. Sargon can rally as many monsters to his side as he likes, but as long as people like you exists, he'll never win."
Sargon didn't say anything, but as he turned back to see how the necromancers, he couldn't help wondering. But he was sure that Ana's lifelong loyalty to him would not waver even in death. After all, he had saved her life, and such things were not taken lightly, especially among the non-human races.
The necromancers continued chanting. On the ground, Ana's body gave a small twitch. It wouldn't be long now...
Ivy automatically opened her mouth in preparation to argue against whatever insult Magnus threw at her, then stopped herself, staring in surprise. 'Did you just give me a compliment?' she asked. 'Well, yes, of course that's why Sargon will lose! With ME on your side, how could he possibly win?' she added in a smug tone.
{The infant was awake, prattling and reaching out towards Armin.} "Well, she's not going to die now. Not unless Sargon finds her." Jerry: "Well, we can't leave them here. Otherwise, we'll have just saved them to be killed later. Eliza: "What do we do? If we take them with us, Sargon's goons might pick up their scent and lead them right to us."
Armin held out a finger and let the baby grab hold of it, in that way babies do. 'We'll have to take them with us,' he said firmly. 'Sure, it's dangerous, but we're not leaving them here. Maybe I could ask that dragon guy, Wendigo, to carry them to Riverside so we don't have to do it.'
'I am NOT arrogant!' Ivy complained. Though in reality, she was - she just wouldn't admit it. 'And I won't die. I'm not going to do anything stupid, I just want to help.'
{Magnus laughs.} "I know, I know. I believe you can do it. I know Bob is showing you the ropes, but I could help as well. I can teach you archery, horseback riding, how to wield a blade, y'know, archaic medieval stuff."
Armin nodded, going over to the woman and picking her up bridal style. //Hey, Fred,// he said casually, sending his words across the city to the other vampire. //We found a human woman and a baby who need taking back to Riverside. Can you send Wendigo over? He should be able to track us down.//
//Yes,// said Frederick shortly.
Armin left the building and looked up at the sky. 'He'll be here in a minute.'
Ivy frowned slightly, though she looked interested. 'Medieval stuff? Archery? Horse riding? How is any of that going to help? I don't know where you come from, but in case you hadn't noticed, we're not living in the Middle Ages here.'
{Everyone went outside and waited for Wendigo.} Eliza: "Are you certain that no one's going to notice a giant dragon ferrying two humans just flying away?"
{Magnus nods.} "Yes, but wartime tech hasn't really gotten very popular. People still use swords and stuff over firearms most of the time.Also, wood is a vampire's weakness, so arrows are still viable."
Armin shrugged, still watching the sky. 'They might, but better him than us. Besides, Sargon's probably busy crying over Ana's dead body, and his minions won't care what Wendigo's up to.'
Just then, Wendigo appeared in the sky. He landed in front of the group and eyed them grumpily. 'I'm risking my position under Sargon by coming here,' he said. 'What do you want?'
'That true...' said Ivy thoughtfully, remembering that she'd seen Armin, and many of Sargon's goons, carrying swords and daggers. 'Say, if you had wooden bullets, could you kill a vampire with a gun too?'
Wendigo grunted in understanding. 'Then I hope you have people in Riverside who'll take them in, because I'm not staying to babysit them.' He then crouched down so that Armin could place the unconscious mother on his back.

"Nope. I've never seen anything past this town," she said, rolling the dice and nudging her hat along. She looked like she was considering buying the street she'd landed on.

31 Mar, 2018, 7:29 pm
{At dawn, Jerry wakes, rubbing his face. He gets dressed and walks down to the hotel lobby. It's surprisingly empty, except for a member of Jerry's family, posted as a sentry.}
31 Mar, 2018, 7:30 pm
"I'll get it," Tochi decided. "Might as well."
Suddenly, the car swerved dramatically and Caroline made a loud shocked noise.
"Jesus Christ - Henry, what was that for?" she exclaimed.
"There was a snail in the road," he said casually.
31 Mar, 2018, 7:34 pm
(D)
Sheldon, who had squeaked in horror and grabbed the door handle, slowly let his breath out and turned back to the game. He passed Tochi the card for her chosen property and took her money, looking like he was refraining from saying anything rude. 'Five,' he announced after rolling the dice. He moved his piece forwards and gave it back to Tochi.
31 Mar, 2018, 7:37 pm

Wendigo growled and knocked the bug aside, squashing it against a wall. He then marched upstairs to Sargon's office, looking frustrated. 'Sir! I have reports!' he called, knocking on the door.
'Come in,' said Sargon's voice.
31 Mar, 2018, 7:38 pm
(Since it's dawn now I'm going to assume that either Sheldon and Tochi are in a slightly behind timeline to everyone else, or they've already been driving a while.)
31 Mar, 2018, 7:39 pm
(A)
Ivy was in the lobby, looking disgruntled as she drank from a paper cup of cheap coffee. She wasn't good with mornings, and didn't acknowledge Jerry when he came in.
Armin was fast asleep in one of the empty hotel rooms upstairs, and Frederick was nowhere to be seen.
31 Mar, 2018, 7:43 pm
{As Wendigo was knocking, more commotion came from below.} "Yeah! The fire mages are here! Burn those little bas.ta.rds! Wait, THAT'S TOO CLOSE TO THE FUEL!" {Suddenly, a massive explosion that rocks the whole building is heard, followed by the PA system.} "Now hear this, fire control team to the barracks. I repeat, fire control team to the barracks."
31 Mar, 2018, 7:50 pm
(A)
Ignoring the explosion, Wendigo stepped into Sargon's office.

31 Mar, 2018, 7:57 pm
(whatever works beat-)
Tochi took the dice and rolled, choosing not to say anything about Henry's risky driving. "Six..." she said to herself, moving her token along.
"You scared the children," snapped Caroline to Henry.
"But nothing bad happened and we spared an innocent life," said Henry brightly.
31 Mar, 2018, 8:00 pm
(D)
Sheldon rolled the dice again, not waiting to see if Tochi would buy the thing she'd landed on. 'Not exactly children...' he muttered, not loud enough for Caroline or Henry would hear. He bought another property, leaving himself with almost no money.
31 Mar, 2018, 8:12 pm
(At some point, Dianne's decay magic is going to inadvertently kill a gastropod in front of Henry and I'm guessing he's going to lose it.)
31 Mar, 2018, 8:18 pm
{Jerry nodded at Ivy and sat next to her.} "So, you're coming with us?"
{From the opposite side of the room, Dianne enters, looking rather tired. She's dressed in black armor, but her arms are mostly exposed and the gauntlets don't cover her fingers. The armor has strange engravings and the shell locket Jerry gave her is tied to her belt. Under her arm, she holds folded robes, and in her other hand, she holds a wooden mask.}
31 Mar, 2018, 8:21 pm
(Aggron - That's terrible. XD)
31 Mar, 2018, 8:30 pm
Tochi went again 2 spaces, not buying anything. "I suppose "you scared the teens" doesn't sound as good," she said, slightly amused.
31 Mar, 2018, 8:31 pm
"I don't know." {Jerry says.} "Sleeping in, I guess?"
Dianne: "They're wasting time. Every second we don't take care of this is another second the curse has to spread."
{Suddenly, the Old Man and a sleepy eyed Eliza appear from the stairwell.}
Old Man: "Well, someone's got to get those two up."
Eliza: "I'll get Armin..."
Dianne: "I'll send someone to check on his supposed son. Assuming he hasn't skipped town."
31 Mar, 2018, 8:31 pm
(Aggron)
'Hmph,' said Ivy, returning from the kitchen with a grouchy expression. 'I can go and look for Freddy, too. I want something to do.'

(So uh I forgot where everyone went so I hope this is okay??)
Keenan looks to Thorn, having watched the Illusionist take care of Ruscar.
"Hey, we should go find Ango an' that. They shouldn't be far, they'll be easier to find now that the sun's coming up."
He vaults out the window, kicking around the broken glass a little as he waits.
"Mum...Mum are you okay?"
She breathes, taking both her hands.
"Hm...? Oh, Ango...Where are we? I must have dozed off for a moment there..."
Emilia mumbles distractedly. Ango grimaces slightly.
"We...we're still on the way out of the city. Y'know, because we've...we've never been outside the city before and now's the perfect time to go!"
She manages a smile, not wanting to lie but knowing that it was the best for this situation.
31 Mar, 2018, 8:36 pm
Sargon left the tower, completely ignoring the dead bugs, fire and chaos filling the lower floors. As soon as he was outside, he transformed himself into a peregrine falcon and flew off to where the ruins of Dianne's street still lay.
31 Mar, 2018, 8:40 pm
"Magnus!" {Called Dianne.}
Magnus: "MMMMmmmmmyyyeeeeeeeessssss???" {Magnus replied, stepping from behind a pillar.}
Dianne: "Take Ivy and go check on Frederick. If he's still here, bring him back with you. And make sure Ivy gets back in one piece."
Magnus: "Will do." {Turns to Ivy.} "After you, m'lady."
31 Mar, 2018, 8:41 pm
{Eliza approaches Armin's door and knocks.} "Armin! Time to get up!"
31 Mar, 2018, 8:43 pm

Ivy nodded and followed Magnus. 'I hope this walking piece of flesh is trustworthy,' she grumbled, jerking a thumb towards him. 'Let's go and look.'
31 Mar, 2018, 8:45 pm

Armin mumbled something in his sleep, rolled over, then seemed to wake up slightly. 'Who's that?' he shouted through the door. He scrambled out of bed and started looking for his clothes.
31 Mar, 2018, 8:54 pm
(it's good, i can't remember either pfft)
"Right'o," Thorn agreed. She jumped gracefully out the window.
Jed padded beside Toby, snuffling around, following the scent as well as he could while keeping an eye out for footprints or anything else.
31 Mar, 2018, 9:11 pm
"Nah, it's fine, you can have a nap if you want to- aw, man, I've got to go to jail." Tochi reluctantly moved her hat into the jail.
31 Mar, 2018, 9:17 pm

'Mhm... I might. Just for a few minutes.' Sheldon eyed the game board, then carefully leaned back into his seat. 'Don't sneak out of jail while I'm not looking...' he said jokingly.

{Magnus chuckles.} "And why wouldn't I be trustworthy, Ivy? I'm just a reanimated corpse forced to do my master's bidding."

31 Mar, 2018, 9:39 pm
{Eliza smiled through half open eyes.} "Yeah, I hate mornings too, but this is what we agreed to, so whatever. Let's go with the others."
31 Mar, 2018, 9:40 pm
"More exciting than your life, I'd bet." {Magnus muttered back as he went through the door.}
31 Mar, 2018, 9:48 pm

With a sigh, Armin followed her back into the hotel lobby, rubbing his eyes and still looking half-asleep. 'So, what are we doing on this lovely day?' he asked when he saw Jerry and Dianne there.
31 Mar, 2018, 9:50 pm
(A)
'I heard that,' Ivy growled. 'And let me tell you, my life has gotten a LOT more exciting in the last few days.' She looked around the mostly deserted village, wondering where Frederick might be. She decided to head to the inn where they'd first met him yesterday.
31 Mar, 2018, 9:54 pm
{Dianne just glares at Armin.} "Stopping the curse, saving the city, there's nothing lovely about this day."
Jerry: "That about covers it. You ready?"
31 Mar, 2018, 9:59 pm
{Magnus walks up to the Inn door and knocks.} "Fred! Time to go! That curse won't recall itself!" {Turning to Ivy, Magnus grins.} "You got recruited by hunters, so what? It's not like You're an expert yet. I doubt Jerry will even decide to bring a greenhorn like you."
31 Mar, 2018, 9:59 pm

Armin stared back at Dianne with no expression. 'Well, it wouldn't hurt to at least try for some optimism.' He then turned to Jerry. 'I'm ready if everyone else is.' Yawning, he leaned against a wall.
----
'Ooh, think you know everything, do you?' said Ivy snidely.
31 Mar, 2018, 10:16 pm
Jerry: "We're still waiting on Frederick."
{Magnus gives Frederick a toothy grin.} "Easy there, Fred-Bear, I'm just shortening your name for simplicity's sake!"
31 Mar, 2018, 10:19 pm
(A)
Looking annoyed, Frederick walked past Magnus and Ivy and went inside the inn. 'I'm here,' he said shortly. 'And I have a message from Wendigo. He says that Sargon just recently left Atlas Tower to find his right-hand's body. I suggest we hurry up and go over there now.'
31 Mar, 2018, 10:19 pm
(*the hotel, not the inn)
31 Mar, 2018, 10:27 pm
{Dianne gives Frederick the same glare she gave his father.} "Really? So, the importance of time is why you decided to sleep in?"
Jerry: "Ok, ok, look, we've all been pulling some late nights recently and we're all grumpy from sleep deprivation, so let's just get going before we're all taking swings at each other, ok?"
31 Mar, 2018, 10:31 pm
"No promises." Tochi laughed and turned her head to watch out the window.
Caroline was fiddling with the radio, Henry was driving decently, and everything seemed fine.
31 Mar, 2018, 10:33 pm
(Aggron)
'I didn't sleep in. I overslept. There's a difference,' said Frederick.
'Aaannywayyy...' said Armin loudly, before a fight could break out. 'We need to get there quickly. A car wouldn't be fast enough and we won't all fit. Dianne, are you going to be transport again?'
31 Mar, 2018, 10:34 pm

Sheldon closed his eyes and drifted into a light doze while they trundled along down the empty road.
31 Mar, 2018, 10:41 pm
"Ok, Frederick, I see, rather than a severe lack of urgency, you possess a severe lack of discipline? Is that right?" {Dianne says, her voice dripping with contempt. Giving Armin a withering look, Dianne hands her disguise to Jerry and walks out the door.} "Fine. Let's go."
31 Mar, 2018, 10:52 pm
(A)
Frederick flushed. 'Better than possessing a severe lack of manners,' he growled. 'And I only overslept a little.'
'Now I know for sure that you're my son,' said Armin, rolling his eyes as he strode past. Everyone followed Dianne outside. Ivy was still out there, waiting impatiently.

31 Mar, 2018, 11:03 pm
{Flipping Frederick the bird behind her back, Dianne transforms into her dragon form. The armor she was wearing has scaled up to fit her new form.} "Get on. Magnus, while I'm gone, continue the preparations. I want HQ established and all those fields scuttled when I get back, understand?"
Magnus: "It will be done m'lady."
31 Mar, 2018, 11:07 pm

Frederick made no comment as he climbed up, Armin waited until everyone else had mounted before climbing on himself. 'I'll be a hawk once we're inside the city,' he said, 'but I'm too lazy to fly all the way there.'
Ivy hesitated for a moment, looking up at the others. 'Where do you want me to be, boss?' she yelled up at Jerry.

Jerry: "Find Bob when he wakes up. Either continue your training, or help with the sabotage effort. If Dianne's attack on their food was a success last night, Sargon might look to this location as a alternative food source."
{With that, Dianne flaps her wings and takes to the skies, headed for the city of Shacklestone.}
31 Mar, 2018, 11:19 pm
(Bye, @Draco!)
31 Mar, 2018, 11:22 pm
{As Sargon is doing whatever it is he's doing, a telepathic message comes through from a commander.} //Sir, we might have a problem...other than the food....and the fuel exploding....AND Anastasia's disappearance..."
31 Mar, 2018, 11:24 pm
(A)
Ivy nodded and waved as Dianne took flight.
31 Mar, 2018, 11:36 pm
(Hey, I gotta get going! Bye for now!)
31 Mar, 2018, 11:38 pm
//Uuuuhh.....Couple dozen of us have come down with an illness....looks like the flu......And it looks like it might be spreading....We might have to postpone our march to the Sovereign until this flu bug blows over...//

(Ok, Bye!)
01 Apr, 2018, 3:35 am
{Dianne flies towards Shacklestone, but does not land in the city. Rather, she lands in the forest.} "We walk from here." {She declares.} "And we enter through the storm drains, not the front gate."
01 Apr, 2018, 4:20 am
{The warmth of the morning sun coming through the window wakes Pythia gently. Stirring from her sleep, she gets up and gets ready for the day. From the front entrance, comes the noise of someone stumbling in.}
Afflicted: "Priestess! I am ill, and seek refuge within your temple!"
{Pythia, not quite dressed, speaks to the poor man from her room, rather than walking out to meet him.}
Pythia: "I will be right with you. All are welcome in the presence of Symponia."
{As she finished dressing, however, the noise of the man becomes distress.}
"Sir?" {Walking out to check on him, Pythia is met with a horrendous sight. There was the man, veins black, and vomiting blood. Pythia did nothing; could do nothing, for the man was doomed. Only Dianne could have saved him, and Pythia knew this well. Flanking each doorway, was a pair of statues. Activating the ones at the door where the man lay dead, a ward is formed, sealing off the room. Shaking with fear, Pythia retreats to her room and collapses, sobbing in the corner.} "Why? W-why would she do this?" {After a fair time of this, Pythia finds her resolve. Standing, she takes a book from her shelf: A book with a skull and blue flowers, the very mark Dianne bears upon her back. Taking to the skies with the book in hand, Pythia sets out to end this plague.}
01 Apr, 2018, 8:24 am
{Magnus grins at Ivy.} "Told ya he wouldn't bring you. C'mon, Bob's not up yet, and I've only got three draugrs under me. Let's go p.iss off Sargon some more!"
01 Apr, 2018, 10:05 am
(Aggron)
//The flu?// Sargon took a moment to think. He doubted this was regular flu, which most non-humans were, if not immune to, then more resilient to. The thought that it might be dangerous crossed his mind. //Take all of the sick people and give them rooms somewhere. Do not let them come into contact with anyone who's well.//
He then resumed his flight to Dianne's house.

//Will do.// {With that, the commander set off to his task.}
{Magnus beckons Ivy to follow him.} "Tell me, Ivy, how much experience have you had with Dark Magic?"
01 Apr, 2018, 5:00 pm
(Yo, let me know when Sargon gets to Dianne's house.)
{Jerry, the Old Man, and Eliza all disguise themselves as vampires while Dianne puts on the robes and mask over her armor. Now disguised, the group heads for the storm drains.}
01 Apr, 2018, 6:01 pm
(Aggron)
'Dark Magic...?' Ivy spoke slowly, seeming to taste the words in her mouth. 'Well, I've never USED it, of course. But I've read a little about it, and I know that Dianne can... control spirits, and things. Why? What's so important about it?'
01 Apr, 2018, 6:05 pm
(Aggron - Sure thing. I'm going to wait a bit for Jerry/Armin and Co. to get into the city first.)
Frederick bounded on ahead, slowing his pace and moving cautiously once they reached the storm drains. He stopped and waited for the others to catch up. //Someone else can lead the way from here,// he said telepathically. //I've never been this way before.// High above them, Armin circled for a moment before flying over the city walls and vanishing from sight.
01 Apr, 2018, 6:12 pm
{Chuckling, Magnus hands Ivy a small, engraved seed.} "See this seed? It has been imbued with dark decay magic. When put into the ground and activated, it will kill all plant life within its effective range."
01 Apr, 2018, 6:16 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy wrinkled her nose. 'Why on earth would you want to kill plants?' she asked.
01 Apr, 2018, 6:32 pm
Magnus: “Sargon, now deprived of food, might want to capture this location for its numerous crops. Clearly, we don’t possess the numbers to hold this town against his army, so, the play is to remove these resources before Sargon can claim them.”
01 Apr, 2018, 6:34 pm
(Aggron)
'What about us, though?' Ivy objected. 'We'll need food too. And when this is all over and the townsfolk move back here, there won't be anything left for them.'
01 Apr, 2018, 6:37 pm
{Dianne leads the way through the storm drains. Stopping at a ladder a fair distance under the city, she turns to doggo Frederick.} “So, are you going to climb like a man, or will I have to carry you as a mutt?”
01 Apr, 2018, 6:42 pm
Magnus: “We have food. Besides, The townsfolk are taking refuge in the Sovereign City, they’ll be fine. On top of that, these seeds might kill plant life, but it fertilizes the soil, so the next harvest will be huge.”
01 Apr, 2018, 10:23 pm
(Aggron)
'Mhm... alright, then,' said Ivy, still sounding uncertain. 'So, we're just going to run around town and stick these seed things into the ground? Maybe we ought to split up. We could cover the area faster that way.'
01 Apr, 2018, 10:26 pm
(Aggron)
Frederick gave her a baleful glare before transforming back into his human form. 'I don't need to be carried by anyone.' With that, he brushed past Dianne and started to swiftly ascend the ladder. 'Sure you can manage with your injuries, or will you need help?' he called back over his shoulder.
02 Apr, 2018, 1:55 am
{As soon as Frederick said that, a smoky mass rushed past him and went through the cracks between the street and the manhole cover. Materializing on the street above, she lifts the metal cover for everyone climbing.} "You are a fool to think me feeble."
02 Apr, 2018, 1:59 am
{Magnus produces a basket of the seeds.} "Yup. Take a few handfuls and take Bufo with you. Plant the seeds in a straight line a thousand feet apart."
{The moment he said "Bufo" a draugr appeared.}
02 Apr, 2018, 11:33 am
(Aggron)
Frederick pulled himself up through the manhole and onto the grimy street, giving Dianne another baleful look but otherwise ignoring her.
Suddenly, Armin flew down in his hawk form and landed on Dianne's shoulder. //I just saw Sargon,// he announced to everyone. //He's about halfway between Atlas Tower and your place, Dianne. He's probably going there to dig up Ana's maggot-riddled corpse.//
02 Apr, 2018, 3:27 pm
(Aggron)
'Not a problem,' said Ivy, smiling evilly as she took as many seeds as she could carry. She threw the draugr a suspicious glance, then started walking. 'I'll start on the south side of town!' she called out over her shoulder as she left.
02 Apr, 2018, 4:20 pm
Jerry: "Good. We can get into Atlas tower undetected."
{Dianne takes a moment before speaking.} "I can feel the curse. It's spread across the city, but a good bit of it...is there." {Dianne points to the tower.}
02 Apr, 2018, 4:21 pm
"And I'll take the north." {With that, Magnus sets off to the task.}
02 Apr, 2018, 6:47 pm
(Aggron)
//Let's go there first, then,// said Armin. //Since as Sargon's already out.// He didn't take flight again, instead staying balanced on Dianne's shoulder.
Frederick started to walk, heading in the direction of the tower without looking to see if the others were following him.
02 Apr, 2018, 6:49 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy hummed cheerfully to herself as she went to her chosen part of town and began to plant the first batch of seeds, wondering how quickly they worked. //Will they start to kill everything the moment I plant them?// she thought as she dug a small hole and dropped a seed inside. She had been completely ignoring the draugr.
02 Apr, 2018, 6:52 pm
Finally reaching Dianne's house, Sargon stood and stared at the destruction the lay before him. Most of the house and the large office building beside it had been crushed, rubble and dust filling most of the street. He carefully stepped over a piece of rock and made his way over to the demolished office block. His face remained emotionless, but deep down he felt a stirring of unease. Anastasia couldn't be dead... could she? Had Dark Brink's powers failed her?
03 Apr, 2018, 2:39 am
{Everyone followed Frederick as he walked to the tower.}
Dianne: "Hey, won't they recognize you as a human?"
03 Apr, 2018, 2:44 am
{The draugr really didn't talk, other than directing Ivy how far a thousand feet was. It seems that Magnus was different from Dianne's other draugrs in that he still possessed some semblance of his original personality.}
03 Apr, 2018, 2:57 am
{Not far from Sargon, Pythia lands and looks in horror on the rubble of Dianne's house.} "No, no, NO! Dam.nit! Dianne!"
{Pythia runs up to the destroyed property, still in dragon form, looking to see if she had perished, oblivious to Sargon's presence.}
03 Apr, 2018, 12:04 pm
(Aggron)
'Yes,' said Frederick as they approached the tower. 'But we have to split up here anyway. I'm going inside to help the troops. According to Wendigo's message, there's been some sort of incident in there. That should keep them distracted. Wait five minutes after I'm gone, then come into the tower, but don't let anyone see you.' With that, he strode off towards the building and let himself in through the main doors.
//Helpful, isn't he?// sighed Armin. //Listen, I'm pretty sure there's another door around the back of the building. We can use that one instead of the front doors.//
03 Apr, 2018, 12:05 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy continued working until she had used up all of her seeds. 'Well,' she said, 'time to go and find Magnus or whatever his name was!' She dusted her hands off and began to walk to the north side of town, keeping an eye out for him.
03 Apr, 2018, 12:09 pm
(Aggron)
Sargon noticed Pythia, but wasn't worried by her. He knew that she didn't condone violence and so she wouldn't have been responsible for Ana's disappearance. He picked his way through the rubble to the ruined office block. Upon seeing that there was no way he could move the wreckage, he sent a telepathic message to one of his commanders in the tower. //Please send a team of dragons and a team of necromancers to me.//
03 Apr, 2018, 5:12 pm
Jerry: "Very well, let's head over there."
{The group walks around the tower while being careful to not be seen.}
03 Apr, 2018, 5:15 pm
{Magnus was out in the middle of the field with the two remaining draugrs and a few of Jerry's family. As Ivy approached, he spoke.} "Heh, hey Ivy, do you know what this is?" {Magnus holds up a strangely engraved coconut.}
03 Apr, 2018, 5:20 pm
//Yes sir. A team is on its way//
{Pythia, finding no body in the rubble, gives up searching. Finally noticing Sargon, her fear turns to anger.} "Hey! The woman who lived here, where is she? Please tell me she's not dead!"
03 Apr, 2018, 7:06 pm
(Aggron)
Armin, still on Dianne's shoulder, showed them the way to the back door. It was small and dingy, the plants around it overgrown. It was obvious that people rarely used it.
//It should be safe,// he said. //It opens into a disused corridor at the back of the ground floor. You can find your way around from there. Wait, are you all disguised?//
03 Apr, 2018, 7:08 pm
(Aggron)
'
Ivy walked over to him. 'It's a coconut,' she said sarcastically. 'No, obviously it's something more than a coconut, but I don't know what it is.'
03 Apr, 2018, 7:11 pm
(Aggron)
'I have no idea,' said Sargon expressionlessly. He paused in his search, standing on top of a piece of rubble that made him taller than Pythia. 'But since as my right-hand follower, Anastasia, has disappeared, I would hazard a guess that Dianne escaped.'
//I should have asked Brink about Ana's new abilities,// he thought. //I did not know their limits. Perhaps she still wasn't strong enough to take on Dianne and survive...//
03 Apr, 2018, 9:40 pm
{Pythia shakes her head.} " You bloody idiot. You might have killed us all. I couldn't understand why she'd do it, but now I do. The curse will spread, and there's nothing we can do to stop it!"
03 Apr, 2018, 9:58 pm
(A)
'What are you talking about?' Sargon said, his red eyes narrowing in sudden interest.
03 Apr, 2018, 11:44 pm
{Pythia turns back into her human form and opens the book she's holding.} "This morning, a man, one of your own, came in to my temple. He was afflicted with this." {Pythia shows Sargon the book, which depicts the origin, the spread, and the stages of the curse.} "A few nights ago, Dianne needed treatment. As I healed her, saw this mark..."{Pythia closes the book and shows Sargon the symbol on the cover.} "...Tattooed upon her back." "Sargon.... you have no idea what she is, do you? "
04 Apr, 2018, 12:06 am
{Everyone had been disguised, with the humans all disguised as vampires and Dianne completely covered by her robes and bearing her wooden mask modeled after the dragon priest Volsung.}
Jerry: "We're good. Let's go."
04 Apr, 2018, 12:08 am
{Magnus laughs.} "This, my dear, is 'the big one.' Remember, the magic imbued into those seeds will work for //any// seed, including this coconut."
04 Apr, 2018, 10:47 am
(Aggron)
Sargon studied the strange mark. 'No, I do not,' he said after a short pause. //Those troops who were sick. They must have this curse,// he thought, realising that it could be spreading inside his tower even now. 'You clearly know things about her that neither me nor my people do. Perhaps you might explain?'
04 Apr, 2018, 10:49 am
(Aggron)
Armin took the lead. Jumping down from Dianne, he shifted himself into what looked like an ordinary domestic cat, allowing him to walk on the ground and open doors. Pushing open the unused door, he cautiously advanced inside. The ground floor of the tower seemed quiet, though there was a strange smell of burning and spoiled food lingering in the air.
04 Apr, 2018, 10:49 am
(Aggron)
'Ooooooh,' said Ivy, with an evil grin. 'You're going to plant it somewhere? Where?'
04 Apr, 2018, 6:12 pm
{Following Armin, the group stays quiet.}
Jerry: "Ugh, smells like your attack worked."
Dianne: "Of course it did. These idiots had no idea what they were up against, let alone how to combat it."
04 Apr, 2018, 6:15 pm
(Aggron)
Armin paused halfway down the corridor, listening intently. //Where are we supposed to be going?// he asked the group telepathically. //The infected people could be anywhere in here.//
04 Apr, 2018, 6:29 pm
04 Apr, 2018, 6:32 pm
Magnus: "It's going straight into the middle of the field. When activated, it will cause a chain reaction with the smaller ones that will wipe the fields clean. You ready? Make sure you don't have any of those seeds in your pockets or anything. If it's activated, and it's touching your skin, it will eat right through you."
04 Apr, 2018, 6:34 pm
Dianne: "Up above us, I can feel them. They appear to all be in one place."
04 Apr, 2018, 6:39 pm
(Aggron)
Sargon was silent for a long moment, apparently digesting Pythia's story. Then he jumped down from the piece of rubble and calmly walked up to her. 'I doubt that Dianne could create a curse to specifically target people who are under MY command. Therefore, this plague that she has unleashed will kill all other people, too. Will she care? Will she recall the curse to save everyone, or will she allow them to die, simply so that I die along with them?' He tilted his head and watched Pythia with expressionless red eyes.
04 Apr, 2018, 6:40 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy frowned and dug a hand into her pockets. 'I don't have any. Activate that thing! I want to see what happens!' She looked as excited as a five-year-old at a firework display.
04 Apr, 2018, 6:42 pm
(Aggron)
//Right-o,// said Armin breezily, and started to lead the way up to the second floor. As they went up the stairs, it seemed as though this floor was deserted as well; all of Sargon's troops must have been elsewhere. Armin walked up a corridor and paused in front of a locked door. //I can smell people in this room. They smell weird. Like they're infected with something.//
04 Apr, 2018, 6:47 pm
{Getting a little unnerved by Sargon's expressionless gaze, Pyhia takes a step back} "G-given her track record, and the fact that most of the people who remain are //your// men, I'm willing to bet she won't care."
04 Apr, 2018, 6:50 pm
(Aggron)
'Even so', the Count persisted. 'Won't the curse spread beyond Shacklestone City? It could kill everyone in the country. It could even reach Sovereign's City. It would leave behind a mass of bodies and a land that might never harbour life again. And you say that she won't care? I know you disapprove of what I've done, Pythia, but tell me, isn't what Dianne has done worse?'
04 Apr, 2018, 6:55 pm
{Dianne caught the scent too.}
Dianne: "It is too late for these ones. The curse has already run its course." {Grabbing the door handle, Dianne turns to the group.} "Steel your minds, for the sight that awaits you is not for the faint of heart." {Forcing the door open, the room behind it is filled with the corpses of the infected, veins black, and drenched in their own blood. The blood covered everything: The floors, the walls, to the point where one might assume a massacre had taken place.}
Eliza: "...I think I'm going to be sick...."
Jerry: "....Well....Thanks for the nightmares.....I don't think I'll ever be able to unsee this...."
Old Man: "...Real pretty...(Sarcasm)"

Armin, still in cat form, stared into the room for a long moment without saying anything. Then he walked over to an open window further along the corridor, shifted into his normal self, and was violently sick.
04 Apr, 2018, 7:00 pm
Pythia: "W-what's your point? Of course it's bad, I'm not defending her! She has done terrible things, I just....I thought she changed...."
04 Apr, 2018, 7:01 pm
(Aggron)
'I suggest you go and find her,' said Sargon, 'and persuade her to withdraw this curse. Otherwise, far more than my people are going to die.' With that, he climbed back onto the rubble and watched the sky for his approaching troops.
04 Apr, 2018, 7:03 pm
{Magnus digs a hole in the ground and drops the coconut in.} "Heheheh, watch this." {Burying the coconut, Magnus utters some unknown words. As soon as he did, all plant life started to die and wither away in a circle around the coconut. The circle began to spread outward bigger and bigger, soon to envelope the whole field.}
04 Apr, 2018, 7:06 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy yelped and jumped backwards as a thicket of plants next to her foot suddenly withered away. She stared around wildly, seeing that the entire field had been consumed by the same dark power. 'That was awesome!' she said. 'Not that I enjoy killing plants, of course... I'm just thinking of Sargon's face if he ever comes here and sees THIS.'
04 Apr, 2018, 7:15 pm
{Kneeling down, Dianne put her finger into the blood. Uttering something under her breath, a darker colored red liquid comes from the bodies and moves to her finger. As it touches her, it absorbs into her and disappears. Getting up after the task was done, Dianne closes the door.} ".....Sorry you had to see that...I was hoping to never have to see it myself ever again....."
04 Apr, 2018, 7:16 pm
{Pythia looks down as Sargon moved away.} "I will try. But if she refuses, there's nothing we can do..."
04 Apr, 2018, 7:17 pm
(Aggron)
'Thanks for the warning, at least,' Armin groaned, returning from the window and throwing a quick glance at the now-closed door where the bodies were concealed. 'Are there more of them somewhere?'
04 Apr, 2018, 7:17 pm
{Magnus grins.} "Yes. Boy, I'd give a million gold pieces just to see the look on his face."
04 Apr, 2018, 7:18 pm
(Aggron)
'If she refuses,' said Sargon flatly, 'then I will be taking my people somewhere else. Another country. To keep them safe. We won't be taking over Vallis with this curse in effect. Which I am sure will make you happy, but you won't have long to enjoy it.'
04 Apr, 2018, 7:19 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy also grinned, hands in her pockets as she surveyed the destruction. 'It's not very pretty, but if it ruins HIS plans, then I think it's worth it.'
04 Apr, 2018, 7:23 pm
(Won't reply for a while, I gotta go.)
04 Apr, 2018, 7:26 pm
Dianne: "Not here, in the tower. There are more to the east."
{Eliza turned green, and was looking delirious, leaning against the wall. Jerry was considerably paler, standing, muttering, and looking away, as if trying to get some mental grip. Only the Old Man seemed the least affected, leaning with his arms crossed, waiting for everyone to recover.}
04 Apr, 2018, 7:32 pm
{Pythia looks up at Sargon.} "Do you honestly think she'll just forget about you? Every communicable disease has a form of transport. The Bubonic Plague had rats, Malaria has mosquitos, this one uses corpses. Walking corpses. Run as far as you want, but if she really wants you dead, her draugrs, infected with this curse will always be right behind you."
04 Apr, 2018, 7:36 pm
(Alrighty.)
{Magnus nods.} "Yup. This is a war of attrition. We're going to beat him by cutting him off at the knees."
04 Apr, 2018, 7:37 pm
(Nevermind, quick reply before I go.)
Armin eyed Eliza. 'The window's that way if you want to be sick too,' he offered in a friendly tone.. 'If not, I think we should maybe get moving. There might be people out there who we can actually help.'
04 Apr, 2018, 7:39 pm
(A)
Sargon looked back at her. 'If Dianne plans to send her infected minions to the ends of the earth to find me, then we have an even greater problem on our hands. She will destroy everything and everyone. When others hear about her, they will join me, wanting to put an end to her. It will result in a worldwide war.'
04 Apr, 2018, 7:50 pm
"That's assuming she doesn't catch you." {Pythia grumbles.} "I'm going to find her. Here are some things you ought to know. If she dies, the curse does not die with her, and you lose the only cure, so do us all a favor and tell your underlings not to engage. Also, //never// burn the infected bodies. Fire causes this thing to become airborne, and it'll be harder to contain. If you ever have to move a body, never touch it. Use someone with telekinesis. Next time I see you, hopefully I'll have good news." {With that, She shifts back to dragon form and flies away.}
04 Apr, 2018, 7:54 pm
"I'll be ok..." {Eliza says softly} "...I hope..."
{Jerry shakes himself off.} "Ok, ok, let's get back out there and fix this....And when we're done, I'mma make Oliver regret this....'Cause damn....Dat's f*&ked up..."
04 Apr, 2018, 8:55 pm
(A)
Not watching Pythia leave, the Count looked up at the sky again.
04 Apr, 2018, 8:57 pm
(A)
Armin placed a hand briefly on Eliza's shoulder, then moved away and looked at Jerry with grim amusement. 'Oliver's the one to blame? It was HER who created this curse thing.' He jerked his head in Dianne's direction.
04 Apr, 2018, 10:16 pm
(Oh, man, as I supposed to control those guys? Whoops. XD)
//Sorry. sir. There were complications... They should be on their way now.// {From the tower comes a group of dragons.}
04 Apr, 2018, 10:20 pm
Jerry: "Hey, it wasn't her-- "
Dianne: "No, Jerry, he's right. It is my fault." {She stated in an accepting tone.} "Had I just dealt with my own emotional baggage instead of taking the easy way out, Oliver would have had nothing to steal. Directly or not, this is my doing." {Without another word, she walks back towards the entrance.}
04 Apr, 2018, 10:24 pm
(*was)
04 Apr, 2018, 10:32 pm
(I didn't really mind who controls them, I probably should've said that. XD I'll control the necromancer group, since you have a lot to do already.)
Sargon looked up as he heard the wing-beats of the approaching fleet of dragons. Riding on their backs were nine necromancers, mostly all young and inexperienced ones. Anastasia had trained many of them personally.
'Here,' said Sargon once the dragons were close enough to hear. He indicated the pile of rubble that had once been the office block. 'Move this.'
04 Apr, 2018, 10:33 pm
(A)
Armin blinked. 'Hmm. I've never seen her agree with someone before.' With that, he shifted back into a cat so he couldn't be recognised, and hurried after Dianne.
05 Apr, 2018, 12:11 am
{The dragons get to work, moving the concrete, wood and rebar.} "This pile's awfully deep, sir. What do you suspect is at the bottom?"
05 Apr, 2018, 12:13 am
{The group follows after Dianne, with the Old Man helping Eliza along, who was still a bit queasy.}
Jerry: "Hey, the curse might be gone from that location and all, but I hope to God Fred doesn't open that door."
05 Apr, 2018, 9:50 am
(Aggron)
Sargon stood back and watched the dragons. 'Something important,' he said shortly. 'You will see if we find it.' He began to help the dragons, moving smaller pieces of rubble and tossing them aside. Gradually, the pile grew smaller.
05 Apr, 2018, 9:51 am
(Aggron)
Armin looked momentarily worried, then shrugged, as much as a cat can shrug. //We can warn him if we see him. I think he'd probably smell them from the corridor and have the sense not to look inside.//
05 Apr, 2018, 9:53 am
(Aggron)
'Yep.' Ivy hesitated as she surveyed the field, then she looked up at Magnus. 'Oh, I meant to ask you something. Why are you so different from the other zombies? The others are just like mindless monsters, but you seem to be almost a person.'
05 Apr, 2018, 2:11 pm
{The dragons worked, moving the rubble at a good pace, until one of the dragons moves back in surprise.} "Uh, sir, there's body under here!" {He says while pointing at a patch of blue scales showing from beneath the rubble.}
05 Apr, 2018, 2:16 pm
"Here's hoping..." {Jerry says nervously. As they walked, Dianne was very quiet, seemingly deep in thought. The group walked until the reached an odd stone building.}
Dianne: "In here..."
05 Apr, 2018, 2:19 pm
{At the question, Magnus just smiles.} "That, my dear, is a complicated question. Come, our job here is done. Let's discuss this somewhere nicer." {With that, Magnus begins to walk away.}
05 Apr, 2018, 3:08 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy glared after him, then huffed loudly and followed the draugr reluctantly. 'Fine, be all mysterious then,' she muttered under her breath. 'As long as you tell me.'
05 Apr, 2018, 3:11 pm
(Aggron)
'That is why we're here.'
05 Apr, 2018, 3:13 pm
(Aggron)
Armin shifted back to human form and edged away from the building uncertainly. 'Now, wait a minute. What are we going to find in there? Because if it's more of those things, I'm getting out of here.'
05 Apr, 2018, 5:14 pm
{Finding a nice, abandoned cafe, Magnus sits down at a table.} "Ok, so, as you know, I am a draugr. As you've already noticed, not all of us are great.....conversationalists. So, why am I such a talking head? Well, to understand that , you need to know what a draugr is. We are essentially, a human, or other, soul bound to a body to create a type of minion, for lack of a better word."
05 Apr, 2018, 5:16 pm
{One of the dragons gazes upon Ana's body with horror.} "My god, what happened? She was a twenty footer, master of magic...What kind of being could do this?"
05 Apr, 2018, 5:18 pm
"Fine." {Dianne says shortly.} "Stay here."
{Without waiting for anyone else, Dianne enters the building.}
05 Apr, 2018, 5:55 pm
(Aggron)
'Right,' said Ivy, nodding; she'd guessed most of this herself already. 'Draugrs are minions. And they're bound to a... a corpse, and controlled by the person who bound them? What about you, then?'
05 Apr, 2018, 5:56 pm
(Aggron)
Armin hung back, curious to know what was inside the room, but not actually wanting to go and look. He turned to Jerry and Eliza instead. 'What d'you think's in there?'
05 Apr, 2018, 5:58 pm
(Aggron)
'A being like her, but even larger and more powerful,' murmured Sargon. He knelt down beside Ana's head and looked into her eyes, which were still open, gazing sightlessly up at the morning sky. 'But I have a solution of sorts. Are the necromancers here?' he said, a new sharpness to his voice.
05 Apr, 2018, 6:11 pm
On hearing Sargon's command, the group of necromancers stepped forwards and bowed. They all looked terrified, having already guessed what he was going to ask them to do. 'Y-yes, my Lord?' one of them said.
Meanwhile, Wendigo watched with mounting horror. //They're reviving Ana! She might be even more powerful as an undead than she was before... I have to tell Frederick...//
05 Apr, 2018, 11:46 pm
Jerry: "More nightmare fuel, I reckon."
Eliza: "I don't want to think about it..."
Old man: "Nay, there is no smell, and it's too far from Atlas tower, which I assume was ground zero. I don't think it's the same situation as last time."
06 Apr, 2018, 12:11 am
06 Apr, 2018, 10:31 am
(Aggron)
'You're right about there being no smell,' said Armin. 'Maybe there really isn't anything in there.' Cautiously, he advanced towards the building that Dianne had entered and poked his head around the doorway.
06 Apr, 2018, 10:33 am
(Aggron)
Ivy's brow furrowed as she took it all in. 'Sooo, Dianne knows she can't fully control you, but she keeps you around anyway? If it were me, I'd have gotten sick of you and let you go by now.'
06 Apr, 2018, 10:36 am
(King/Aggron)
06 Apr, 2018, 1:57 pm
@Rad/Aggron
//I was wondering when you would call.//
The spirit appears in it's spectral form to Sargon's side, a hint of scorn in it's voice and it's grin twisted into a slight grimace.
//I felt her power detach from myself. I would have had Mortikai come to investigate what happened, but he's...tied up with a previous engagement.//
It swims a little higher in the air to gaze at the massive carcass of the blue dragon.
//This I had not forseen. Whoever did this must be quite powerful to be able to take down one of my.../our/ strongest.//
There is a slight tone of excitement in the dark spirit's voice at that last sentence.
06 Apr, 2018, 3:44 pm
(King/Aggron)
Sargon eyed the dark spirit. 'She /was/ very powerful,' he said quietly. 'A dragon necromancer by the name of Dianne. She and Ana fought... Where Dianne is now, I do not know, but Ana is dead, and I am forced to bring her back through... unorthodox methods.' He gestured to the muttering necromancers. 'I confess, I am surprised that the power you gave her wasn't enough to stop her death.'
06 Apr, 2018, 4:57 pm
{Magnus chuckles.} "Blunt, but fair. Yes, my personality can be trying at times, but I know why she keeps me around. I'm a useful tool. In life, I was a decorated tactician, a master of the blades, a mighty king, and an ally to her. However, I'm not so sure I consider her my friend anymore. Friends don't keep their friends from seeing their families in the afterlife for so long..."
06 Apr, 2018, 5:06 pm
{As Armin poked his head in, there was a body on the ground in the lobby. It was a human woman. She was alive but unconscious, with her black veins fading.}
06 Apr, 2018, 5:41 pm
(Aggron)
'Ha,' said Ivy quietly, though there was no amusement in her voice. 'I guess you're just another wretched servant, then. Forced to do whatever she wants you to. Sounds like a pretty miserable way to live.' She smirked a little at her own joke, because of course Magnus wasn't 'living'.
06 Apr, 2018, 5:42 pm
(Aggron)
'It's alright,' said Armin, moving further into the room and peering down at the unconscious woman. 'She's not dead. She looks OK.'
06 Apr, 2018, 6:06 pm
"She?" {Jerry says, following Armin. Seeing the woman, he cautiously approaches.} "Huh, looks like Dianne did save someone."
06 Apr, 2018, 6:13 pm
{Magnus just looks off into space.} "Yeah. If you can call this existence life..." {Shaking such thoughts from his mind, he turns to Ivy.} "Anyway, what about you? Why are you sticking around with these hunters, rather than running for Sovereigns city?"
06 Apr, 2018, 6:13 pm
@Rad/Aggron
//It's only unorthodox if you disagree with it.//
Dark Brink's grin curls tight as it descends back down to his level.
//And yes, I agree. I, too, am surprised. By all means, she should have prevailed, even if another is of similar strength. And if she had my power behind her, then the odds were even more in her favour.//
The spirit sits in the air as if it were human - arms crossed with one "hand" on it's chin and one leg crossed over the other - despite it looking somewhat awkward due to it's feline front and lack of hind legs in it's spirit form.
//This is curious...very curious.//
06 Apr, 2018, 6:53 pm
(Aggron)
'Yeah...' Armin kept staring at the unconscious woman. 'I'm guessing she's not contagious anymore and it's safe to go near her. I wonder who she was. She's human.'
06 Apr, 2018, 6:55 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy hummed quietly in a thoughtful sort of way, then said, 'Well, I really didn't WANT to run away like everyone else. I've lived in Shacklestone City all my life, and these evil people DESTROYED it. It's my home... and my family and everyone are probably all dead...' She gazed off in the direction of the city, her eyes narrowing. 'I suppose I just wanted to do something to help.'
06 Apr, 2018, 6:57 pm
(King/Aggron)
'I don't care how curious it is,' said Sargon with a touch of impatience. 'When Ana is revived, I will have to remember to be more careful about what I ask her to do... Clearly your powers were not enough.' He looked back at the witch dragon's body, still unresponsive as the necromancers worked over her. 'You may go now, if you wish. But I will be calling you back soon to give me MY reward.'
06 Apr, 2018, 7:10 pm
"She was just another unfortunate victim." {Said Dianne as she reappeared. Cradled in her arm was a human infant.} "I found her in the other room, with a note. She knew she was going to die, so she isolated herself from her child, hoping someone well would find it."
06 Apr, 2018, 7:12 pm
{Magnus nods.} "I see. You are but a civilian, brought up in a civilized world, no combat experience, and out of your element. Just what do you believe you can contribute to this fight?"
06 Apr, 2018, 7:21 pm
(Aggron)
'That's her child?' Armin moved closer to Dianne to get a better look. 'Well, she got her wish. Someone's found it...'
06 Apr, 2018, 7:22 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy glared up at him. 'I don't know! I know that I don't have any combat experience or anything else you just said, but that doesn't mean I can't try. I can train. I can get better. Who knows, maybe one day I'll save ALL of your sorry backsides and then you'll know how much I'm worth.'
06 Apr, 2018, 7:58 pm
@Rad/Aggron
The spirit growls softly at Sargon's comment about it's power. How /dare/ this mortal being insult him so?!
//Well, if you doubt my power so much, I suppose I'll save it just for you. I was going to offer my help, since these necromancers simply aren't doing their job quick enough for you...but I think you'll settle fine enough.//
It goes to leave, then pauses, grinning.
//I wonder if she'll like you more for reviving her? Or will she hate you for sending her to her death?//
With a dark chuckle, it disappears.
06 Apr, 2018, 8:02 pm
{Magnus laughs.} "Do you see that there? That undying determination an defiance against impossible odds. That unwillingness to just accept whatever fate's laid out before you? That is why Sargon will lose his war against humanity. Humans are a stubborn and unyielding race. Sargon can rally as many monsters to his side as he likes, but as long as people like you exists, he'll never win."
06 Apr, 2018, 8:05 pm
(King/Aggron)
Sargon didn't say anything, but as he turned back to see how the necromancers, he couldn't help wondering. But he was sure that Ana's lifelong loyalty to him would not waver even in death. After all, he had saved her life, and such things were not taken lightly, especially among the non-human races.
The necromancers continued chanting. On the ground, Ana's body gave a small twitch. It wouldn't be long now...
06 Apr, 2018, 8:06 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy automatically opened her mouth in preparation to argue against whatever insult Magnus threw at her, then stopped herself, staring in surprise. 'Did you just give me a compliment?' she asked. 'Well, yes, of course that's why Sargon will lose! With ME on your side, how could he possibly win?' she added in a smug tone.
06 Apr, 2018, 8:07 pm
{The infant was awake, prattling and reaching out towards Armin.} "Well, she's not going to die now. Not unless Sargon finds her."
Jerry: "Well, we can't leave them here. Otherwise, we'll have just saved them to be killed later.
Eliza: "What do we do? If we take them with us, Sargon's goons might pick up their scent and lead them right to us."
06 Apr, 2018, 8:09 pm
{At that, Manus dropped his smile.} "Careful. Arrogance like that has killed greater women than you."
06 Apr, 2018, 8:11 pm
(Aggron)
Armin held out a finger and let the baby grab hold of it, in that way babies do. 'We'll have to take them with us,' he said firmly. 'Sure, it's dangerous, but we're not leaving them here. Maybe I could ask that dragon guy, Wendigo, to carry them to Riverside so we don't have to do it.'
06 Apr, 2018, 8:12 pm
(Aggron)
'I am NOT arrogant!' Ivy complained. Though in reality, she was - she just wouldn't admit it. 'And I won't die. I'm not going to do anything stupid, I just want to help.'
06 Apr, 2018, 8:18 pm
"Agreed." {Dianne said, taking the child in her arms.} "Get the mother, and do yourselves a favor. Don't look in that back room."
06 Apr, 2018, 8:25 pm
{Magnus laughs.} "I know, I know. I believe you can do it. I know Bob is showing you the ropes, but I could help as well. I can teach you archery, horseback riding, how to wield a blade, y'know, archaic medieval stuff."
06 Apr, 2018, 9:01 pm
(Aggron)
Armin nodded, going over to the woman and picking her up bridal style. //Hey, Fred,// he said casually, sending his words across the city to the other vampire. //We found a human woman and a baby who need taking back to Riverside. Can you send Wendigo over? He should be able to track us down.//
//Yes,// said Frederick shortly.
Armin left the building and looked up at the sky. 'He'll be here in a minute.'
06 Apr, 2018, 9:02 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy frowned slightly, though she looked interested. 'Medieval stuff? Archery? Horse riding? How is any of that going to help? I don't know where you come from, but in case you hadn't noticed, we're not living in the Middle Ages here.'
06 Apr, 2018, 9:07 pm
{Everyone went outside and waited for Wendigo.}
Eliza: "Are you certain that no one's going to notice a giant dragon ferrying two humans just flying away?"
06 Apr, 2018, 9:11 pm
{Magnus nods.} "Yes, but wartime tech hasn't really gotten very popular. People still use swords and stuff over firearms most of the time.Also, wood is a vampire's weakness, so arrows are still viable."
06 Apr, 2018, 9:29 pm
(Aggron)
Armin shrugged, still watching the sky. 'They might, but better him than us. Besides, Sargon's probably busy crying over Ana's dead body, and his minions won't care what Wendigo's up to.'
Just then, Wendigo appeared in the sky. He landed in front of the group and eyed them grumpily. 'I'm risking my position under Sargon by coming here,' he said. 'What do you want?'
06 Apr, 2018, 9:31 pm
(Aggron)
'That true...' said Ivy thoughtfully, remembering that she'd seen Armin, and many of Sargon's goons, carrying swords and daggers. 'Say, if you had wooden bullets, could you kill a vampire with a gun too?'
06 Apr, 2018, 9:37 pm
{Jerry approached Wendigo.} "We've got survivors here, a woman and her baby. We need you to take them to Riverside. If they stay here, they'll die."
06 Apr, 2018, 9:38 pm
{Magnus screws up his face.} "I guess so, assuming the wood doesn't shatter from the shock of being fired."
06 Apr, 2018, 10:50 pm
(A)
Wendigo grunted in understanding. 'Then I hope you have people in Riverside who'll take them in, because I'm not staying to babysit them.' He then crouched down so that Armin could place the unconscious mother on his back.
'Be careful with them both,' Armin muttered.
06 Apr, 2018, 10:51 pm
(A)
'Mhm.' Ivy made a noise of understanding. She then fell silent, lost in her own thoughts as she waited to see if Magnus would say anything else.
07 Apr, 2018, 3:03 am
{Dianne approached Wendigo now.} "Here, you'll have to hold the child in your talons."
Jerry: "I'll call ahead so you won't get shot. Be careful."
07 Apr, 2018, 7:16 am
{Magnus said nothing more. He just sat there, seemingly deep in thought.}
07 Apr, 2018, 10:09 am
(Aggron)
Wendigo lifted the baby in one of his front paws, very carefully. 'See you, then,' he said, and then took flight without another word.
07 Apr, 2018, 10:09 am
(Gonna wait until I post the new room for anything else.)
07 Apr, 2018, 5:35 pm
(Gotcha.)
