uhhh Hans was born in Austria and raised in Germany. He became an assassin after his Fiance died in the hands of a Templar (who he tried to fight and nearly died)
Turns out his fiance used to be an assassin, learned about another assassin through her belongings, and went after to find him
So he became trained through him
Now he's moreso a traveler. He mainly stays in Germany, Switz n Austria but he likes to assist and visit other countries.
