STILL AT IT MUNIN!! its nice to see your still posting. do you paint in real life too? because lately i have and with not much success. Its very much a different ball game between COLORS! and a real canvas using Acrylics and or Oils. Spraycans are the closest thing to this program so far. and i feel like a used up my skills on digital art rather than focusing on physical art. Whats your take?
Cheers, guys. Nice to see some old folks still popping in now and again. I hope you are doing good.
Senco: I definitely hear you regarding traditional activity. Yes, I do dabble a little in acrylics. I have to be in the mood. For me personally, I was sucked back into art - and the motive to be creative - by stumbling upon the digital medium via the old Sijun forums... and in particular: the speedpainting thread.
I don't think I could have made my way back into any sort of art without that discovery. So the digital aspect actually opened up some sort of freedom which I hadn't been so enthusiastic about since... well, my old graffiti days (if I'm being honest) when myself and a few trusty friends (aged 9-10) were stripping copper pipe and old radiators out of recently abandoned buildings (mostly schools, as I remember), selling the scrap to buy aerosol cans, and then going back in to decorate the walls. Ahh, good times.
I think you have a very good point regarding being sidetracked by the digital, verses the traditional. I do see that. For me personally, the digital didn't use up my time... it was actually the catalyst that helped me return to that creative side of me. I'm just happy that actually happened to begin with.
Gah... what can I say. If you think you wasted time with the digital, then you probably did. Personally, it opened things up again. But I'm just one person.

Interesting. I can only imagine the annoyance of fiddling around a stylus with cold fingers!
