{The inspector falls forward, catching himself on the counter. Grabbing a large metal skillet, he quickly turns and slams it into Crowley's wounded leg, trying to keep him from moving around too much.}
Yelping, Crowley staggered backwards and fell against another counter. Keeping his weight off his injured leg, he threw one of the knives he was carrying at the inspector, his face set in a snarl of fury. The blade flew with near-perfect accuracy, hitting the inspector in the shoulder. Crowley let out an insane laugh, happy to be fighting something seemingly weaker than him for once.
{The inspector yells in pain. Standing up, he throws the skillet, smashing Crowley in the face with it. Picking up another pan, he starts to approach Crowley, watching carefully for any more projectiles.}
Crowley wiped a hand across his nose, which had started bleeding, then limped backwards out of the kitchen door until he was standing in the hallway behind it. Settling himself into a combat-ready crouch, he raised the two remaining knives he had left. 'Wanna try me, freak?' he snarled. 'I'll rip your face off and leave you to be eaten by the crows.'
{The inspector just gives Crowley a hateful glare.}"You're le one to be left as food for birds!" {At the sound of combat, the shifters he left at the door decide to break it down and enter the structure.}
Caroline walked off to the living room at a brisk pace and Henry looked like he was going to follow, but instead he turned off and headed to the kitchen, presumably to put Richard back.
"...I really hope this is all going to settle down soon," Tochi said quietly, staying close to Sheldon.
Sheldon, still following Caroline, whispered back, 'Well, actually, I feel like all this is going to be happening for a LONG time...' He hesitated. 'But hopefully you're right.' He brushed his hair out of his eyes. For some reason, it looked to be slightly longer than it had been that morning, which didn't make a lot of sense.
@All Ango and Toby bolt into the games room, splitting as they enter. Toby trots to Jed, nudging him and yipping quietly to get him to wake up and follow. Ango runs to her mum, shaking her gently. "Mum? Mum! Wake up, we need to go!" It takes a few attempts to rouse Emilia, but when she does, her eyes are glazed and her expression is somewhat blank. Desperate, Ango gently pulls on her arm, attempting to het her to stand. "Mum, come on! It's okay, he isn't here, but we need to go!"
@Radiant "Of course. Ana, you know where they're being kept, right? I'll accompany you." Mortikai says, grabbing a hold of the back of Forrest's tank top. Brink dissipates into thin air as he moves, smoky form lingering for a moment before being completely gone. Diras stands and moves out of the way, looking up at everyone curiously, not seeming to know what's going on.
Crowley hesitated and glanced over his shoulder as he heard the rest of the troops pouring into the building. 'If you think your stupid army can help you, you're wrong,' he growled. 'I can escape from here aaaanytime I like.'
@Draco Nodding, Keenan shifts into his lion form, creeping towards the kitchen and peering in, seeing Crowley and the Inspector tussling. "Don't think we'll be able to get through here now. They might be distracted, but I don't think everyone's gonna be able to get through quick." He says quietly, ears flattening against his head slightly. "The front door's gonna be blocked too. We're gonna have to find another way out."
"Maybe there's an open window that's safe to jump from," Thorn meowed. Then she added in an amused tone, "Last option is to flush ourselves down a toilet."
'Certainly,' said Ana, turning and walking out of the room, throwing a final glance at Diras as she did so. 'Come on, hurry. Bring the traitor.' She headed off towards the 'cell' where the others were being kept.
'Hmmm...' said Sheldon in acknowledgement, then he did a double take as he realised what she'd just said. His eyes widened, and he tried to get a look at his own hair, which was mostly impossible. 'I-is it? That's silly. It can't be.'
At that point, they reached the living-room, where Caroline had led them.
'Coward? COWARD?!' Crowley yelled, his voice rising. 'If I could shift right now, you wouldn't be saying that. If I was in my true form, you'd be kneeling in front of me and begging for your life by now!' Infuriated by the insult, he threw another knife at the inspector.
{The inspector parried the blade with his saucepan, then smiled.} "Is that so? Back when I was in le police force, I used to eat punks like you for breakfast. If //I// was in //my// true form, you wouldn't be alive right now to spew such insolent nonsense. Think you're tough? Why don't we take this outside, dragon v. dragon, and settle this like men?"
'Oohh, you are ON,' said Crowley, smirking nastily. '...Buuut you'll have to wait until it gets dark. I can only shift at night and sunset.' He backed up a couple of steps, making sure he was out of the inspector's reach in case he decided to take a swing at him.
{As Ango was trying to get her mother to move, a crazy conjurer crashes through the window, threateningly waving their hands and spouting nonsense.} "Hooblah! I am Kuku Khan! Ruler of tha high seas and all of Egypt!"
'Yeah, yeah, see you later, weirdo.' With a final grin, Crowley teleported outside, ending up on the roof of the orphanage. Only when he was sure nobody could see him did he stop to examine his injuries, finding a badly injured leg, a broken nose, and a painful lump on his head from hitting the wall. //Hmm... maybe I should rest a while instead of fighting that guy,// he thought, then immediately disregarded the idea. //Ha, no way. I'm fine.//
After Ana had left with Morty and Forrest, and Brink had disappeared back to wherever he lived, Sargon turned to address the remaining people in the room. A brief disagreement ensued when he asked Lord Grimm to leave, but eventually the dragonshifter obliged and walked out. This left only Diras. Sargon stared at the dragonling, not sure if he was intelligent enough to understand commands.
'Umm...' Sheldon began, but was saved the trouble of answering by Caroline's question. He thought about it for a moment, then ventured nervously, 'W-well, why don't we follow the rest of the townspeople? I think they're all going somewhere south... far away from Shacklestone.' He looked to Tochi for help.
@Aggron Startled, Ango screams, putting herself between the conjurer and her mum. This seems to bring Emilia back enough to comprehend what was happening. She gets up, taking her daughter by the shoulders and moving away from the intruder. Toby runs over, growling and barking, enough to attract attention. Hearing the commotion, Keenan swears loudly as he turns and runs towards the games room, dodging and barging through the shifters who had broken through the front doors.
@Radiant He looks back at Sargon, head tilting with curiosity. Forrest yells angrily from the hallway. "Diras! Follow, idiot!" This he seemed to understand, trotting through the doors after the group.
Sargon went to sit down behind his desk and sent a telepathic message to someone. A few moments later, a vampire walked into the room, his face serious and his long blond hair tied back. It was the same vampire who had fought with Crowley on the streets - though nobody would have guessed he'd been fighting by the look of him.
Sargon glanced up. 'Ah, Frederick. Please sit down.' He waited until Frederick had sat himself on the other side of the desk before continuing. 'You've been scouting for me since I attacked the city some days ago. Have you seen anything suspicious?'
'No, Sir. Just a rude young dragonshifter. I told him to back off.'
'Well, it just so happens I have a task for you now.'
'It has been one of Shacklestone's primary food sources for decades. There is a great deal of farmland there. Though, of course, after I took over the city, they stopped sending supplies over to us. I think it would be a good idea for us to assume control of Riverside, if possible. If we can take their farms and factories, we'll have a plentiful supply of food - and it will help in replenishing our lost stocks.'
Frederick rubbed his hands together thoughtfully. 'I see. And you wish for me to go there and assess the state of the village, I suppose?'
'Yes. But there is more to it than that.' Sargon reached under his desk and pulled out a photograph, holding it out for Frederick to see. It showed a blurry picture of Armin and Jerry in the city together; the same picture his spies had taken on the night of the invasion.
'These two have been working together since the beginning,' he said flatly. 'They may even be responsible for the destruction of our stores.' His voice changed, becoming almost soft. 'Frederick, you may recognise one of them.'
Frowning, Frederick reached out and took the photo, holding it up to the light to better examine it. His face went expressionless.
'That's him.' His voice held a strange mixture of anger, diselief, and wonder.
'Yes,' said Sargon. He shifted restlessly. 'Armin, my former right hand. The other man is Jeremiah Garvey, who previously worked in the city as an investigator. I believe they may be hiding out in Riverside to avoid my troops. So, Frederick, I am sending you there on a mission for me. You have two jobs; assess the situation, and find these two. Bring them to me if you can, and kill them only if you have no choice.'
Frederick looked dazed. He bowed his head. 'Yes, Sir. I'd be happy to go. When do I leave?'
Sheldon blinked and tried to ignore Henry. 'Th-the Old Kingdom? Where the King lives? ...Well, I suppose it would be the SAFEST place to be... but I don't know what it's like there...' He suddenly realised how much he was talking. He leaned against the side of the couch and fell silent.
Sheldon glanced nervously between each of them as they spoke. 'So... you think it's OK to go there?' he asked. 'I mean, if we ARE going to leave, and everything.'
(Draco - I know Presumably you're laughing AT something?)
Sheldon nodded too. 'Th-that sounds fine. Should we go and pack...' At that point, he remembered that he didn't have anything except the clothes he was wearing and the few loose coins in his pocket. Everything he owned had been lost in the Shacklestone invasion. '...Whatever we have,' he finished after a moment.
'O. OK.' Sheldon looked at Tochi, then hurried out of the room, expecting her to follow. Of course, he had nothing to pack, but he was curious about what SHE was going to.
On the way out, he saw a mirror on the wall and caught sight of his reflection. 'Hmm...' He tentatively slid over to the mirror and peered at himself. Tochi had been right; his hair was a fraction longer than before. But why?
{As Ivy wandered through the empty streets, Uncle Bob and Grandpa Joe appear.} Bob:"Hey, Ivy. What are you up to?" Joe:"Jerry said he wanted us to show ya the ins and outs of monster huntin'!"
{The conjurer snaps their fingers and summons a large wolf familiar to oppose Toby and Jed.} "This is Sarcosucho! He's the greatest pet I've ever had! Ahahahaha!"
"Should be packing clothes, socks, plenty of books..." Tochi listed. "Ah, do I still have-" she dove into her pocket. "Oh yes, it's still there."
-
Jed looked into the wolf's eyes and let out a low snarl, but he stayed where he was. He wouldn't attack unless it did first, seeing as it was bigger than him and it probably wouldn't be an enjoyable fight.
{The Inspector takes a moment to inspect his own wounds. The knife in his shoulder is the worst of it. Pulling it out, the inspector holds some rags to his wound and leaves the kitchen to find the inhabitants.}
{Somewhere dark in Shacklestone, the Illusionist draws the symbol to summon Dark Brink.} "Come to me, dark one, the time for death and mayhem is nearly upon us."
'Hmm?' said Sheldon curiously, glancing away from the mirror and towards Tochi. 'Have what?' //I wonder what I should pack,// he mused. //I don't have anything, but maybe there's some things around here that I could take...//
'What's with the evil smiles? You know you'll never make someone trust you by looking like that.' Ivy followed Bob and Joe, chattering the whole while. 'And what do you mean by 'equipped'? What do I need?'
The sun was setting, and Crowley could sense his magic creeping back into him. Why he could only use it at night, he didn't know; his parents had been the same, but had never told him why they were different from other dragonshifters.
Nonetheless, with the power he held now, his injuries would begin to heal faster... and he could assume his true form. Grinning like a maniac, he transformed, then spread his wings and leapt off the orphanage roof. He swooped over the city, laughing loud enough to be heard from the ground. It was time to look for his friend.
At the edge of the city, a small group of warriors were preparing to leave through the main gates. A transformed dragonshifter with black and blue scales stood impatiently as his comrades - a duo of werewolves - argued over the best way to complete their mission.
Just then, Frederick appeared from the shadows and walked over to the group. 'Sorry for the delay,' he said smoothly. 'Are you ready to go?'
'We were ready long before YOU were,' the dragon muttered.
'Shut up, Wendigo,' one of the werewolves growled.
Stepping forwards, Frederick vaulted up onto Wendigo's scaly back. The werewolves followed. 'Quickly,' he said. 'Sargon doesn't want any delays.'
The dragon leapt into the air with his three passengers, and they began to wing their way towards Riverside.
@Draco/Aggron Toby snarls at the wolf familiar, attempting to look bigger and fiercer that his biological ancestor. Seeing the conjurer in the rec room, Keenan leaps over the couch with a roar, lowering his head and growling deeply as he approaches. "You'd better crawl back through whatever hole you came from, buddy, otherwise you'll have me 'nd these two to answer to."
{For once, the Illusionist shows emotion. Smiling and chuckling to himself, he speaks.} Oh, my feline friend, have I got something to make your night. Behold!" {The Illusionist produces a bottle of dark red liquid. Brink, being an entity that feeds off negative emotions, would sense the darkest of emotions emanating from the liquid, and yet, the liquid is not a being. Curious indeed.} "Tell me, Brink, do you know what this is?"
{The conjurer yelps at Keenan's appearance. With a snap of her fingers, a massive sabertooth familiar appears to oppose Keenan, and she begins to taunt the group.} "You aiiiiiin't gon' do sshhhhiiiiiieeeeeeeeeet! Yooooou aiiiiin't gon' do shiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! You. Ain't. Gon'. Do. Shet."
{Bob and Joe look at each other, then to Ivy.} Joe "You obviously need weapons, sweetheart! Your good looks alone won't kill monsters! Bob:"Every hunter carries specific weapons for the most common inhuman types. A gun, stakes and holy water, gas grenades, and, most importantly, a partner. Hunters always travel in pairs at least."
'That many weapons? Isn't that a little on the excessive side?' Ivy questioned. 'But never mind that! Show me where I can get some of these weapons.' There was a greedy look in her eye at the thought of becoming more powerful, of not needing anyone else's help to fight off the vicious monsters in Shacklestone.
@Aggron The spirit's form shudders slightly as it takes in the dark aura of the vial, twisted grin splitting into sharp teeth. //Only something the darkest of beings would possess, a liquid of death itself. Obtaining a vial of such dangerous liquid is very admirable. Tell me, Illusionist, how did you come across such a thing?// As he speaks, he inches closer to the bottle, relishing in the darkness emanating from it.
@Draco/Aggron Roaring, Keenan darts for the sabertooth's throat, mane cracking with electricity. Ango jumps back, keeping her mum away from the fight. "Be careful!" She says as the lion shifter initiates the fight, almost reaching for Toby and Jed to keep them back and safe from the two hostile familiars.
{The Illusionist smiles.} "I got it straight from the source. There's a woman in town most consider to be just an irate shop keeper. This, however, is not the case. She's actually an ancient and powerful necromancer. The curse is hers."
{The sabertooth swats Keenan mid jump, taking the electric damage directly. The dire wolf familiar lounges over Toby and Jed, going straight for Ango and her mom.}
@Aggron //Oh really? Hm...How interesting. She may be a point of...certain interest.// The dark feline muses, pacing around the summoning circle. //How do you propose we use this evil liquid? If you have any idea at all, of course.//
@Draco/Aggron "Stay back!" Ango yells at the beast, putting herself firmly in front of her mother as they step back, nearing the back wall. Toby spins around and latches onto the dire wolf's tail, pulling back as hard as he can to stop it from getting any closer to his family. Taking the hit, Keenan is knocked slightly to the side, but he takes it as an opportunity to shoulder-barge the saber-tooth, the shock surely dazing it slightly.
{Bob and Joe lead Ivy back to the hotel. Getting back to the room, they lay weapons on the table for Ivy.} "Ok, Ivy, have you ever used a firearm before?"
{The Illusionist puts the vial away.} "Well, that's just the problem. I can't use it, at least, not yet. If I release the curse upon the city, she, the original caster will just recall it, as it is an extension of herself. That's why it gives off emotions. First, I need to get her away from the city, but how?"
{The dire wolf spins, bites Toby behind the neck, and begins to violently thrash him about, like a chew toy. The saber decides to go all in. Sinking its massive canines into Keenan, the saber takes the electric damage, with it causing its jaw muscles to contract, giving it a harder bite. However, it cannot move.}
Ivy shook her head, staring at the array of weapons in front of her. 'No. Actually, yes! I used a rifle in a school competition once, years ago. But I've never used one to FIGHT, if that's what you mean.'
{Bob nods.} "Ok, then we'll start you off slow." {Bob picks up a small caliber revolver.} "Use this to practice your aim. Once you get better, you'll move up in stopping power."
Ivy took the revolver from Bob without asking. 'Then let's go practice right now,' she said. 'I already killed a charging werewolf with nothing but a knife. Once I have one of these...' She smiled.
(Yeah, let's move 'em.) {With the night falling fast, Jerry and Old Man Garvey begin to prepare. The pair make themselves smell like vampires and apply contacts to make their eyes red.} Old Man Garvey:"Five minutes, Armin. Get ready or we leave without you."
'No need to be rude,' muttered Armin. He hadn't bothered to disguise himself at all, looking exactly the same as he normally did. 'Come on, let's get outside.' Without offering any explanation, he hurried to the front door and went out before the others could.
(Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Eliza getting prepared. I'll just say she does the same thing as the other two.) {Catching up with Armin, Jerry confronts him on his appearance.} "Armin, you still look like yourself. Won't Sargon's men recognize you?"
{It doesn't take long for Jerry's family to set up a shooting range in the abandoned city.} Bob:"Ok, Ivy, long range first. Hit as many of those cans on top of that wall as you can."
@Draco/Aggron Thankfully, Toby's collar saved most of his neck from being injured, though he was still held tight. He attempts to bite at the wolf's face as he's thrashed about, but to no avail. Seeing the wolf go for her companion, courage strikes into the heart of Ango as she rushes forwards to grab the familiar by the scruff of the neck and yanking hard to get it to let go, adding a kick to one of it's forelegs for good measure. "Let him go!" Keenan roars in pain, though soon enough realises that it's immobilized. Mustering himself up, he charges the saber-tooth into the conjurer, hoping that it would effect the familiars somehow.
@Aggron // Hm...perhaps a trap or lure of sorts...You seem to know her well, if you're privy to how this curse is tied to the caster. Or perhaps you just know how she works? It's no matter to me. How would you suggest we go about this?//
{At Ango's tug and kick, the dire wolf drops toby, turns, and bites Ango's arm to the bone, beginning to thrash her about instead. The conjurer was too busy dancing like a happy prospector to notice Keenan throwing the saber into her. She yelps in surprise as she's overcome by the scuffle.}
{The Illusionist takes a moment to think.}"The best course of action would be to get her on Sargon's bad side. Sargon's superior numbers would drive her out, and she would most likely retaliate from a distance with the most savage and cruelest spells and tactics at her disposal, leaving me free to unleash this curse. A win-win for us. While I was getting the curse, I did also grab this list of locations where she destroyed Sargon's food supplies, written in her hand. Sargon strikes me as rather stupid, so even if I bring this to him, he might not believe me."
As they leave the house, Armin glanced at Jerry and grinned. 'Don't worry. I can disguise myself.' He shapeshifted himself into a small hawk and flew ahead to land on the roof of Old Man Garvey's car. Now speaking telepathically, he said, //No-one will recognise me like this.//
Ivy took the safety off the gun and eyed the row of cans. There were six of them. Aiming carefully, she fired the gun several times in quick succession. Three of the cans fell, the other three stayed untouched.
{At Armin's transformation, Old Man Garvey doesn't look impressed, Eliza is beaming, and Jerry stands gawking.} Jerry: "You could do that the whole time?! Why didn't you say anything?!" Eliza: "Soooo cool!"
//Most vampires can do it,// Armin replied. //I thought that you, being from a hunter family, would know that.// He sounded smug. Though he couldn't speak out loud anymore, he was directing his telepathic messages to everyone, so they could all hear what he was saying.
'Oh, don't worry. I can get MUCH better than this.' Face screwed up with concentration, Ivy reset the targets and had another attempt. This time, she managed to hit four of the cans.
@Draco/Aggron She bites back a yell, grimacing through the pain as if it hadn't been the worst she'd experienced. With her free arm, she hits the dire wolf in the side of the head, trying to get it to release her. With a deep growl, Toby launches himself onto it's throat, biting down with malicious revenge for hurting Ango. Managing to shake it off after ramming it into it's summoner, Keenan backs away from the saber-tooth, panting heavily. The shoulder it had latched onto was on the same side as his sprained wrist. Though the sprain had began to feel better, his entire front leg was in so much pain that walking would be hard in this form. Good thing that he didn't need to walk so much in a fight.
@Aggron //Hm...You have thought this out. Very well. This will certainly help...the darkness of your soul increasing with the release of this curse...so much power to be had.// He says the last parts in a hushed voice, then looks up. //I'm sure that my appearance will help...tide the good Count over. He'll be sure to believe you with my support.//
{Old Man Garvey crosses his arms.} "You can't blame my boy for not thinking you capable of it. After all, from what I've seen and heard, you've been pretty lackluster in everything else you do, who'd have thought you'd actually be good at something as complex as this?"
{The wolf throws Ango to the side as it desperately tries to detach Toby. The saber gets up dazed and the conjurer drags herself to the far side of the room. "Huff-Huff.....That....that all you got?!"
{The Illusionist stands, as night is just about upon them.} "It's better if you alone bring it to his attention, for I fear that I may make an attempt on Sargon's life upon seeing him at all. That dog took my family from me, so I will take everything from him."
//That's a poor excuse and you know it is,// said Armin. //You guys should have at least suspected. Anyway, why are we standing here talking about my awesome powers? Let's get going!// He flapped his wings impatiently.
@Radiant Mortikai follows Ana silently, still having a firm grasp on Forrest, who's face is now stuck in a permanent scowl. Diras trots along obliviously behind them, very interested in the surroundings instead of where they were going. The cat shifter looks around at him, curious of his nature. "Your dragon doesn't act very much like a dragon." "Dragon souls are hard to tame. Your fancy dark master must've just dumbed him down to get him to bond with me better. It's not my fault he'll be an idiot for the rest of our lives." He replies with bitterness clear in his voice, turning his head to glare at Morty. "Or maybe you're just a bad necromancer. Either way, I think we're here now, right?" He looks to Ana for confirmation.
@Draco/Aggron She stumbles off to the side, catching herself on the end of the couch and turning to watch what was happening, though tears begin to blur her vision as she cradles her injured arm, the pain finally setting in.
Despite the wolf's efforts to get him to let go, Toby doesn't give up, pushing up a little to get a better grip.
Keenan grins, padding as best he could towards the conjurer. "Oh no...I'm just getting started. You mess with my friends, you start counting your prayers." He says darkly, blue electricity sparking dangerously in his mane.
'Of course,' said Ana with an unpleasant smile. She stepped in front of them and pushed open the door to the holding cell, where Ryker and the twins were being kept. The guard standing outside the door stepped back to let them all through.
'Just throw him in here and let's go,' she said to Morty. 'And then let's talk about what we're going to do with this undead dragon.'
Armin said the last part while looking at Eliza. Then he spread his wings and leapt into the sky, swiftly flying in the direction of the city.
He came to the main gates in less than two minutes. With the sharper eyesight of a hawk, he could see there weren't any guards directly below. //I think Sargon's decided to guard specific points inside the city, rather than the entrance itself,// he mused. Flying a little further, he could see a few non-humans wandering around the streets, but no large patrols like he was used to seeing here.
It confused him, but he didn't dwell on it. Instead, he landed on one of the high walls around the gates and waited for the others to arrive.
{The conjurer yelps and scrambles to her feet.}"Stay back! Or I'll use my secret weapon!" {Noticing that the dire wolf was having a rough time with Toby, she snaps her fingers, causing the wolf to dissipate and reappear at her side.}
Armin had been falling asleep on top of the wall out of boredom, but shook himself awake when he heard the others coming. He swooped down towards them and landed on Jerry's shoulder.
//The gates aren't guarded,// he reported, //but there are still people in the streets. Not too many, though. I couldn't see any of Sargon's usual patrol gangs.//
"Odd." {Jerry says scratching his head.} Why wouldn't he flood the streets with patrols after he lost so many? Wouldn't he want to catch the one responsible? I guess he's trying to conserve manpower now. Ok, Armin, we're going to make our way to Dianne. We'll need you to tell us if we're right about to run into something we can't handle, ok?"
After a few minutes of walking, Armin sent a telepathic message down to the group. //There's a gang of werewolves just around the next corner. You all look like vampires and they probably won't recognise you, so you can just walk right past them.//
Sure enough, up ahead stood a group of untransformed werewolves on a street corner. There were four of them. They were drinking beer and chatting loudly.

17 Feb, 2018, 8:00 pm
{The inspector just gives Crowley a hateful glare.}"You're le one to be left as food for birds!" {At the sound of combat, the shifters he left at the door decide to break it down and enter the structure.}

"That sounds fine," Thorn said with a quick nod. "Let's hurry."
She shifted to her cat form and sprung away.
17 Feb, 2018, 8:07 pm
Tochi closed the door behind her.
Caroline walked off to the living room at a brisk pace and Henry looked like he was going to follow, but instead he turned off and headed to the kitchen, presumably to put Richard back.
"...I really hope this is all going to settle down soon," Tochi said quietly, staying close to Sheldon.

(Draco)
Sheldon, still following Caroline, whispered back, 'Well, actually, I feel like all this is going to be happening for a LONG time...' He hesitated. 'But hopefully you're right.' He brushed his hair out of his eyes. For some reason, it looked to be slightly longer than it had been that morning, which didn't make a lot of sense.

@Radiant
"Of course. Ana, you know where they're being kept, right? I'll accompany you."
Mortikai says, grabbing a hold of the back of Forrest's tank top.

17 Feb, 2018, 8:24 pm
"No matter how long this goes on for, I like to think our parents got out of the city in one piece. But I suppose I have to be realistic."
She glanced at his hair. "Hey, your hair looks... very slightly longer?"

@Draco
Nodding, Keenan shifts into his lion form, creeping towards the kitchen and peering in, seeing Crowley and the Inspector tussling.
"Don't think we'll be able to get through here now. They might be distracted, but I don't think everyone's gonna be able to get through quick."
He says quietly, ears flattening against his head slightly.
"The front door's gonna be blocked too. We're gonna have to find another way out."

"Then go, you coward." {The inspector growled.} "You won't survive if you stay."

17 Feb, 2018, 8:48 pm
{The inspector parried the blade with his saucepan, then smiled.} "Is that so? Back when I was in le police force, I used to eat punks like you for breakfast. If //I// was in //my// true form, you wouldn't be alive right now to spew such insolent nonsense. Think you're tough? Why don't we take this outside, dragon v. dragon, and settle this like men?"
17 Feb, 2018, 8:50 pm
(Aggron)
'Oohh, you are ON,' said Crowley, smirking nastily. '...Buuut you'll have to wait until it gets dark. I can only shift at night and sunset.' He backed up a couple of steps, making sure he was out of the inspector's reach in case he decided to take a swing at him.
17 Feb, 2018, 8:52 pm
{As Ango was trying to get her mother to move, a crazy conjurer crashes through the window, threateningly waving their hands and spouting nonsense.} "Hooblah! I am Kuku Khan! Ruler of tha high seas and all of Egypt!"
17 Feb, 2018, 8:54 pm
"Fine." {The inspector said.} "Begone, and I will find you after I finish my task here."
17 Feb, 2018, 8:57 pm
(Aggron)

17 Feb, 2018, 9:12 pm
"I mean, I could be imagining it," Tochi gave a little shrug. "But I really think it looks longer."
"All right," Caroline said, turning to face them. "Where should we be going? What's a safe place, you think?"
17 Feb, 2018, 9:16 pm
(Draco)
'Umm...' Sheldon began, but was saved the trouble of answering by Caroline's question. He thought about it for a moment, then ventured nervously, 'W-well, why don't we follow the rest of the townspeople? I think they're all going somewhere south... far away from Shacklestone.' He looked to Tochi for help.

Startled, Ango screams, putting herself between the conjurer and her mum.
17 Feb, 2018, 9:42 pm

He looks back at Sargon, head tilting with curiosity. Forrest yells angrily from the hallway.
"Diras! Follow, idiot!"
This he seemed to understand, trotting through the doors after the group.

17 Feb, 2018, 9:44 pm
'Hmm?'
17 Feb, 2018, 9:45 pm
'Riverside.'
Sargon let the word hang in the air for a moment.
17 Feb, 2018, 9:48 pm
'Immediately.'
17 Feb, 2018, 9:49 pm
Jed awoke with a confused bork and sprang to his paws, running over to the commotion. He stood beside Toby and snarled at the conjurer.

"Perhaps down to the Old Kingdom," Tochi suggested thoughtfully. "I've heard it's an okay place."
Henry entered. "Hello."
17 Feb, 2018, 10:07 pm
(Draco)
Sheldon blinked and tried to ignore Henry. 'Th-the Old Kingdom? Where the King lives? ...Well, I suppose it would be the SAFEST place to be... but I don't know what it's like there...' He suddenly realised how much he was talking. He leaned against the side of the couch and fell silent.
17 Feb, 2018, 10:33 pm
"Mum and Dad told me they went there a long time ago," Tochi told him.
"I went there too," Henry exclaimed. "Heathland!"
17 Feb, 2018, 10:38 pm
(Draco)
Sheldon glanced nervously between each of them as they spoke. 'So... you think it's OK to go there?' he asked. 'I mean, if we ARE going to leave, and everything.'
17 Feb, 2018, 10:47 pm
"I'll say it's the best place to go," said Caroline. "If everyone agrees?"
"Fine with me," agreed Henry.
Tochi glanced at Sheldon, then she nodded. "Sure."

17 Feb, 2018, 10:54 pm

Presumably you're laughing AT something?)

On the way out, he saw a mirror on the wall and caught sight of his reflection. 'Hmm...' He tentatively slid over to the mirror and peered at himself. Tochi had been right; his hair was a fraction longer than before. But why?

Bob:"Hey, Ivy. What are you up to?"
Joe:"Jerry said he wanted us to show ya the ins and outs of monster huntin'!"
19 Feb, 2018, 9:11 am
{The conjurer snaps their fingers and summons a large wolf familiar to oppose Toby and Jed.} "This is Sarcosucho! He's the greatest pet I've ever had! Ahahahaha!"

Ivy turned to them with a smile. 'Good. I'd like to learn some things. Why don't we start now?'

"Should be packing clothes, socks, plenty of books..." Tochi listed. "Ah, do I still have-" she dove into her pocket. "Oh yes, it's still there."

Jed looked into the wolf's eyes and let out a low snarl, but he stayed where he was. He wouldn't attack unless it did first, seeing as it was bigger than him and it probably wouldn't be an enjoyable fight.

{Somewhere dark in Shacklestone, the Illusionist draws the symbol to summon Dark Brink.}
"Come to me, dark one, the time for death and mayhem is nearly upon us."
19 Feb, 2018, 7:35 pm
(Draco)
'Hmm?' said Sheldon curiously, glancing away from the mirror and towards Tochi. 'Have what?' //I wonder what I should pack,// he mused. //I don't have anything, but maybe there's some things around here that I could take...//
19 Feb, 2018, 7:36 pm
(Aggron)
'What's with the evil smiles? You know you'll never make someone trust you by looking like that.' Ivy followed Bob and Joe, chattering the whole while. 'And what do you mean by 'equipped'? What do I need?'
19 Feb, 2018, 7:39 pm
The sun was setting, and Crowley could sense his magic creeping back into him. Why he could only use it at night, he didn't know; his parents had been the same, but had never told him why they were different from other dragonshifters.
Nonetheless, with the power he held now, his injuries would begin to heal faster... and he could assume his true form. Grinning like a maniac, he transformed, then spread his wings and leapt off the orphanage roof. He swooped over the city, laughing loud enough to be heard from the ground. It was time to look for his friend.
19 Feb, 2018, 7:43 pm

(Satan only works on Saturdays XD)
@Draco/Aggron
Toby snarls at the wolf familiar, attempting to look bigger and fiercer that his biological ancestor.
Seeing the conjurer in the rec room, Keenan leaps over the couch with a roar, lowering his head and growling deeply as he approaches.
"You'd better crawl back through whatever hole you came from, buddy, otherwise you'll have me 'nd these two to answer to."
19 Feb, 2018, 9:44 pm
@Aggron
From the mark, Dark Brink rises from it, grin curling sharply.
//As darkness falls, we shall rise. What summons me here tonight?//
20 Feb, 2018, 7:04 am
{For once, the Illusionist shows emotion. Smiling and chuckling to himself, he speaks.}
Oh, my feline friend, have I got something to make your night.
20 Feb, 2018, 7:08 am
{The conjurer yelps at Keenan's appearance. With a snap of her fingers, a massive sabertooth familiar appears to oppose Keenan, and she begins to taunt the group.}
"You aiiiiiin't gon' do sshhhhiiiiiieeeeeeeeeet!
Yooooou aiiiiin't gon' do shiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
You. Ain't. Gon'. Do. Shet."
20 Feb, 2018, 7:13 am
{Bob and Joe look at each other, then to Ivy.}
Joe "You obviously need weapons, sweetheart! Your good looks alone won't kill monsters!
Bob:"Every hunter carries specific weapons for the most common inhuman types. A gun, stakes and holy water, gas grenades, and, most importantly, a partner. Hunters always travel in pairs at least."
20 Feb, 2018, 12:00 pm
(Aggron)
'That many weapons? Isn't that a little on the excessive side?' Ivy questioned. 'But never mind that! Show me where I can get some of these weapons.' There was a greedy look in her eye at the thought of becoming more powerful, of not needing anyone else's help to fight off the vicious monsters in Shacklestone.
20 Feb, 2018, 10:41 pm
@Aggron
The spirit's form shudders slightly as it takes in the dark aura of the vial, twisted grin splitting into sharp teeth.
//Only something the darkest of beings would possess, a liquid of death itself. Obtaining a vial of such dangerous liquid is very admirable. Tell me, Illusionist, how did you come across such a thing?//
As he speaks, he inches closer to the bottle, relishing in the darkness emanating from it.
20 Feb, 2018, 10:50 pm
@Draco/Aggron
Roaring, Keenan darts for the sabertooth's throat, mane cracking with electricity.
Ango jumps back, keeping her mum away from the fight.
"Be careful!"
She says as the lion shifter initiates the fight, almost reaching for Toby and Jed to keep them back and safe from the two hostile familiars.
21 Feb, 2018, 5:16 am
@Radiant
Bob: "Come back to the hotel with us and we'll get you outfitted."
Joe: "Yeah, we've got weapons for days!"
21 Feb, 2018, 5:21 am
{The Illusionist smiles.}
"I got it straight from the source. There's a woman in town most consider to be just an irate shop keeper. This, however, is not the case. She's actually an ancient and powerful necromancer. The curse is hers."
21 Feb, 2018, 5:26 am
{The sabertooth swats Keenan mid jump, taking the electric damage directly. The dire wolf familiar lounges over Toby and Jed, going straight for Ango and her mom.}
21 Feb, 2018, 12:13 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy nodded and smiled. 'Alright, guys - lead the way!' She rubbed her hands together evilly.
21 Feb, 2018, 12:26 pm
@Aggron
//Oh really? Hm...How interesting. She may be a point of...certain interest.//
The dark feline muses, pacing around the summoning circle.
//How do you propose we use this evil liquid? If you have any idea at all, of course.//
21 Feb, 2018, 12:31 pm
@Draco/Aggron
"Stay back!"
Ango yells at the beast, putting herself firmly in front of her mother as they step back, nearing the back wall.
21 Feb, 2018, 6:53 pm
{Bob and Joe lead Ivy back to the hotel. Getting back to the room, they lay weapons on the table for Ivy.}
"Ok, Ivy, have you ever used a firearm before?"
21 Feb, 2018, 6:57 pm
{The Illusionist puts the vial away.} "Well, that's just the problem. I can't use it, at least, not yet. If I release the curse upon the city, she, the original caster will just recall it, as it is an extension of herself. That's why it gives off emotions. First, I need to get her away from the city, but how?"
21 Feb, 2018, 7:07 pm
{The dire wolf spins, bites Toby behind the neck, and begins to violently thrash him about, like a chew toy. The saber decides to go all in. Sinking its massive canines into Keenan, the saber takes the electric damage, with it causing its jaw muscles to contract, giving it a harder bite. However, it cannot move.}
21 Feb, 2018, 7:50 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy shook her head, staring at the array of weapons in front of her. 'No. Actually, yes! I used a rifle in a school competition once, years ago. But I've never used one to FIGHT, if that's what you mean.'
21 Feb, 2018, 7:57 pm
{Bob nods.} "Ok, then we'll start you off slow." {Bob picks up a small caliber revolver.} "Use this to practice your aim. Once you get better, you'll move up in stopping power."
21 Feb, 2018, 8:13 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy took the revolver from Bob without asking. 'Then let's go practice right now,' she said. 'I already killed a charging werewolf with nothing but a knife. Once I have one of these...' She smiled.
21 Feb, 2018, 8:14 pm
(Aggron - By the way, when are the people at Armin's hideout going to start moving again?)
21 Feb, 2018, 8:26 pm
(Yeah, let's move 'em.)
{With the night falling fast, Jerry and Old Man Garvey begin to prepare. The pair make themselves smell like vampires and apply contacts to make their eyes red.}
Old Man Garvey:"Five minutes, Armin. Get ready or we leave without you."
21 Feb, 2018, 8:30 pm
(Aggron)
'No need to be rude,' muttered Armin. He hadn't bothered to disguise himself at all, looking exactly the same as he normally did. 'Come on, let's get outside.' Without offering any explanation, he hurried to the front door and went out before the others could.
21 Feb, 2018, 8:50 pm
( re: thank you! X3
I almost didn't put them in, because I was afraid they might sounded silly xD I'm glad they don't )
21 Feb, 2018, 9:24 pm
(Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Eliza getting prepared. I'll just say she does the same thing as the other two.)
{Catching up with Armin, Jerry confronts him on his appearance.}
"Armin, you still look like yourself. Won't Sargon's men recognize you?"
21 Feb, 2018, 9:27 pm
{It doesn't take long for Jerry's family to set up a shooting range in the abandoned city.}
Bob:"Ok, Ivy, long range first. Hit as many of those cans on top of that wall as you can."
21 Feb, 2018, 10:43 pm
@Draco/Aggron
Thankfully, Toby's collar saved most of his neck from being injured, though he was still held tight.
"Let him go!"
Keenan roars in pain, though soon enough realises that it's immobilized. Mustering himself up, he charges the saber-tooth into the conjurer, hoping that it would effect the familiars somehow.
21 Feb, 2018, 10:46 pm
@Aggron
// Hm...perhaps a trap or lure of sorts...You seem to know her well, if you're privy to how this curse is tied to the caster. Or perhaps you just know how she works? It's no matter to me. How would you suggest we go about this?//
22 Feb, 2018, 5:38 am
{At Ango's tug and kick, the dire wolf drops toby, turns, and bites Ango's arm to the bone, beginning to thrash her about instead. The conjurer was too busy dancing like a happy prospector to notice Keenan throwing the saber into her. She yelps in surprise as she's overcome by the scuffle.}
22 Feb, 2018, 5:48 am
{The Illusionist takes a moment to think.}"The best course of action would be to get her on Sargon's bad side. Sargon's superior numbers would drive her out, and she would most likely retaliate from a distance with the most savage and cruelest spells and tactics at her disposal, leaving me free to unleash this curse. A win-win for us. While I was getting the curse, I did also grab this list of locations where she destroyed Sargon's food supplies, written in her hand. Sargon strikes me as rather stupid, so even if I bring this to him, he might not believe me."
22 Feb, 2018, 10:55 am
(Aggron)
As they leave the house, Armin glanced at Jerry and grinned. 'Don't worry. I can disguise myself.' He shapeshifted himself into a small hawk and flew ahead to land on the roof of Old Man Garvey's car. Now speaking telepathically, he said, //No-one will recognise me like this.//
22 Feb, 2018, 10:57 am
(Aggron)
Ivy took the safety off the gun and eyed the row of cans. There were six of them. Aiming carefully, she fired the gun several times in quick succession. Three of the cans fell, the other three stayed untouched.
22 Feb, 2018, 6:13 pm
{At Armin's transformation, Old Man Garvey doesn't look impressed, Eliza is beaming, and Jerry stands gawking.}
Jerry: "You could do that the whole time?! Why didn't you say anything?!"
Eliza: "Soooo cool!"
22 Feb, 2018, 6:17 pm
{Nodding, Bob speaks.}
Bob:"Not bad, Ivy. Keep working on your aim. After a bit, we'll show you how to deal with closer targets."
22 Feb, 2018, 6:37 pm
(Aggron)
//Most vampires can do it,// Armin replied. //I thought that you, being from a hunter family, would know that.// He sounded smug. Though he couldn't speak out loud anymore, he was directing his telepathic messages to everyone, so they could all hear what he was saying.
22 Feb, 2018, 6:38 pm
(Aggron)
'Oh, don't worry. I can get MUCH better than this.' Face screwed up with concentration, Ivy reset the targets and had another attempt. This time, she managed to hit four of the cans.
22 Feb, 2018, 8:32 pm
@Draco/Aggron
She bites back a yell, grimacing through the pain as if it hadn't been the worst she'd experienced.

//Hm...You have thought this out. Very well. This will certainly help...the darkness of your soul increasing with the release of this curse...so much power to be had.//
He says the last parts in a hushed voice, then looks up.
//I'm sure that my appearance will help...tide the good Count over. He'll be sure to believe you with my support.//

(I just remembered that Sargon and Ana still need to talk to Brink about getting some powers. XD)
22 Feb, 2018, 9:08 pm
(Oh yeah XD)
(Should I get them to the holding cell?)
23 Feb, 2018, 6:15 am
Bob:"Well, keep practising that for a while. I'm sure you'll be great." {With that, Bob leaves Ivy to it.}
23 Feb, 2018, 6:17 am
{Old Man Garvey crosses his arms.}
"You can't blame my boy for not thinking you capable of it. After all, from what I've seen and heard, you've been pretty lackluster in everything else you do, who'd have thought you'd actually be good at something as complex as this?"
23 Feb, 2018, 6:21 am
{The wolf throws Ango to the side as it desperately tries to detach Toby. The saber gets up dazed and the conjurer drags herself to the far side of the room.
"Huff-Huff.....That....that all you got?!"
23 Feb, 2018, 6:23 am
{The Illusionist stands, as night is just about upon them.}
"It's better if you alone bring it to his attention, for I fear that I may make an attempt on Sargon's life upon seeing him at all. That dog took my family from me, so I will take everything from him."
23 Feb, 2018, 11:26 am
(King - Ana and Morty are on their way there now, I think. Let's get them there. I'll have Sargon follow at some point. XD)

Ivy didn't bother saying goodbye. Resetting the targets, she started to try again. She was going to be PERFECT at this.
23 Feb, 2018, 11:28 am
(Aggron)
//That's a poor excuse and you know it is,// said Armin. //You guys should have at least suspected. Anyway, why are we standing here talking about my awesome powers? Let's get going!// He flapped his wings impatiently.

@Radiant
Mortikai follows Ana silently, still having a firm grasp on Forrest, who's face is now stuck in a permanent scowl. Diras trots along obliviously behind them, very interested in the surroundings instead of where they were going. The cat shifter looks around at him, curious of his nature.
"Your dragon doesn't act very much like a dragon."
"Dragon souls are hard to tame. Your fancy dark master must've just dumbed him down to get him to bond with me better. It's not my fault he'll be an idiot for the rest of our lives."
He replies with bitterness clear in his voice, turning his head to glare at Morty.
"Or maybe you're just a bad necromancer. Either way, I think we're here now, right?"
He looks to Ana for confirmation.

@Draco/Aggron
She stumbles off to the side, catching herself on the end of the couch and turning to watch what was happening, though tears begin to blur her vision as she cradles her injured arm, the pain finally setting in.
Despite the wolf's efforts to get him to let go, Toby doesn't give up, pushing up a little to get a better grip.
Keenan grins, padding as best he could towards the conjurer.
"Oh no...I'm just getting started. You mess with my friends, you start counting your prayers."
He says darkly, blue electricity sparking dangerously in his mane.
23 Feb, 2018, 6:47 pm
(King)
'Of course,' said Ana with an unpleasant smile. She stepped in front of them and pushed open the door to the holding cell, where Ryker and the twins were being kept. The guard standing outside the door stepped back to let them all through.
'Just throw him in here and let's go,' she said to Morty. 'And then let's talk about what we're going to do with this undead dragon.'
23 Feb, 2018, 6:54 pm
{Jerry just frowns at Armin.}
"Fine. As long as you can fly, go scout the gates ahead and tell us if it's safe. We'll follow on foot."
23 Feb, 2018, 6:58 pm
(Aggron)
//Fine by me. Watch out for yourselves.//
23 Feb, 2018, 6:59 pm
{The conjurer yelps and scrambles to her feet.}"Stay back! Or I'll use my secret weapon!" {Noticing that the dire wolf was having a rough time with Toby, she snaps her fingers, causing the wolf to dissipate and reappear at her side.}
23 Feb, 2018, 7:04 pm
{It takes the group a little bit to arrive at the gates. Slowly approaching, they wait for armin to give the all clear.}
23 Feb, 2018, 7:16 pm
(Aggron)
Armin had been falling asleep on top of the wall out of boredom, but shook himself awake when he heard the others coming. He swooped down towards them and landed on Jerry's shoulder.
//The gates aren't guarded,// he reported, //but there are still people in the streets. Not too many, though. I couldn't see any of Sargon's usual patrol gangs.//
23 Feb, 2018, 8:21 pm
"Odd." {Jerry says scratching his head.} Why wouldn't he flood the streets with patrols after he lost so many? Wouldn't he want to catch the one responsible? I guess he's trying to conserve manpower now. Ok, Armin, we're going to make our way to Dianne. We'll need you to tell us if we're right about to run into something we can't handle, ok?"
23 Feb, 2018, 8:30 pm
(Aggron)
//Not a problem,// Armin replied, taking flight again and soaring up into the sky above the city. //I'll keep a lookout until we get to Dianne.//
23 Feb, 2018, 8:55 pm
{With that, the group enters the city, carefully making their way to Dianne, always looking out for signs of hostiles.}
24 Feb, 2018, 11:29 am
(Aggron)
After a few minutes of walking, Armin sent a telepathic message down to the group. //There's a gang of werewolves just around the next corner. You all look like vampires and they probably won't recognise you, so you can just walk right past them.//
Sure enough, up ahead stood a group of untransformed werewolves on a street corner. There were four of them. They were drinking beer and chatting loudly.

Re: XDD I guess so. I mean, people like KJ have over 2000 followers. But I doubt there are a thousand people who visit regularly at one time. People come and go but don't delete their accounts.
