With the little money he had, he purchased a bus ticket to Inkopolis.

( Fast-foward some years )

Neon had made some friends, and entered ranked matches to afford living in an apartment with his bro, while Reef practiced honed his skills in Turf Wars. It was pretty decent, but little more cash wouldn't hurt. Y'know, to buy a decent house.

One day while tinkering on some weapons with Sheldon, Neon noticed some Inklings rushing by to go in a booth. When he asked about it, Sheldon explained that the Squid Sisters' agent was looking to hire a bodyguard. His interest was peaked, but that seemed a little much. Then Sheldon mentioned how much it payed...

Neon thought about that house he'd been wanting, and said: "Brb".

So, the test was like a gladiator-like battle. Last one standing got the job. When the air-horn blew, ink went everywhere! D: Neon spent most of the time finding out-of-the-way places, and attacked with a Ranged Blaster while the others took each other out. Then there were two left.
They traded shots, and Neon forced his opponent to hide behind a wall. When the opponent saw Neon walking over, he jumped out, and shot an ink circle around him, blocking off his escape! "Any last words before I splat ya?", he asked. "Can I shake your hand? You killed it, dude", Neon replied.

Smug, he walked over, and shook Neon's hand... But something was off. Neon tighten his grip, and smiled. Before he could figure out what was going on, a faint whistle caught his attention. It was an Inkstrike! :0
Neon closed his eyes as the ink engulfed the two. And with that, he got the job.

( Fast-Forward )

An Octoling was spotted around the premises, so Neon went to check it out. When he asked what he was doing, he just glared at him. Some Octolings had turned over a new tentacle, and lived with Inklings. But there were still some who held resentment towards them.
Neon, admittably was still a bit sore at Octolings because of what happened in his town, so sternly, he told him to quit sneaking around the back and go home.

( I forgot his name, so we'll call him Javis, ok? :'P ) ( Fast-forward past the Squid Sister hijinks. xD )

The concert was about to start, and Neon was getting ready to leave for his job. But when he got there, Callie and Marie were no where to be found. D: He found a message backstage that read that Javis and his subordinates had kidnapped them, and was daring Neon to come try to rescue them, if he wasn't a total chicken. >:/ Reef, who was attending with his gf Linda, offered to give him backup if he was going. He hesitated at first, but knowing Reef could handle himself by now, he agreed.

Before they left, he stopped by Sheldon's to grab a prototype weapon they'd been working on: The Splat-Pulsers. ( the gloves you see up there. :D Basically, you can fire ink from your hands with them. )
( Fast-forward )

The three had freed the Squid Sisters from an Octo-Ink forcefield, and were making their way out, when they got ambushed!
Neon took the most damage protecting his squad, and needed to heal. He told Reef to get them to safety.
But if you think that Javis was done, oh-ho, get this. He had a backup plan: A giant octopus robo to ink and smash Inkopolis! D:

"Man, if I had've known we'd be fighting a giant robot, I would've bought my Charger", Marie sighed.
The group did their best to beat the mechanical nightmare. And they did pretty well, rendering it immobile! But if you think Javis was done, you'd be wrong. He had one more attack in his creation: A concentrated octo-ink stream, strong enough to cut metal! Or more accurate, the huge tower in Inkopolis! D: Callie caught on to where he was aiming, and told everyone to use their special attacks to counter it!

The four Inklings struggled to keep the ink from reaching the tower, but it was pretty strong. Around this time, Neon finally made it to the scene...But saw Reef getting nicked by the beam trying to guard against it! D:
Enraged, Neon used the ability he had with him: the Kraken. But something strange happened... When he was about to assume the form, he stayed in his humanoid form, but his hair tentacles begain to shape into the head of the Kraken. Ink surrounded him as he took a stance, leaving everyone in shock. :o

Aaand that's where I'll stop it. :p Sorry, I meant that to be much shorter, lol. I made this short story on Miiverse around a few months after I got Splatoon when it released. It was pretty fun, when people weren't trying to throw themselves in it. :'D
