They were just walking into the village when Sheldon suddenly spoke up. 'There's something strange going on... Look.' He pointed at a family of people who were hurrying towards their car, carrying several heavy trunks. Other people around them were engaged in similar activities. 'It almost seems like everyone in the village is getting ready to leave, or something...'
'I don't know...' said Sheldon. He glanced around nervously. Riverside was bustling with activity. 'Maybe they're going to leave, in case... in case something DOES happen. Does that mean WE'LL have to leave, too?'
"Hmmm. We won't panic until we know for sure that Sargon's army is coming here," Tochi decided. "They may just be being extra cautious."
She paused, then said thoughtfully, "People are going to keep running to different towns. But eventually they won't have anywhere to go, and they'll either have to go to another country or fight back."
'Oh... th-that's true.' Sheldon had been trying not to think too hard about the future. //Is Sargon's army really big and powerful enough to take over the whole country?// he thought, then shuddered and changed the subject. 'Maybe... we should go and check on your grandparents? They might not have realised everyone is evacuating...'
Sheldon hesitated, as he didn't really want to encounter Henry again that day, but quickly realised that he'd rather stick with Tochi than go wandering off in a foreign town all by himself. He kept walking, and within a few minutes the two of them had arrived outside her grandparents' house. He halted by the door and glanced uncertainly at Tochi, waiting for her to knock or just let them inside.
Sheldon shuffled awkwardly in the front hallway, not knowing what to say. 'Um... everyone's leaving,' he blurted out. 'I mean, the whole village is evacuating, because of, uhm, the evil people.'
{Jerry shakes his head.} “I disagree. Everyone knows humans relish war, whether we admit it or not. Just look at who showed up to oppose him, my whole crazy, hella racist family, guns in hand and blood in their mouths. He kicked a hornets nest, he just doesn’t know it yet.”
'Yeahhh, he probably didn't think it through as well as he should have done,' said Armin dryly. 'He underestimates humans. He didn't think anyone would be strong or brave enough to fight against him after he did what he did.'
“He’s an idiot if he thinks that. “ {Jerry replied.} “People like my family thrive off the cycle of revenge. It gives them an excuse to take their hatred out on others. Humans couldn’t save ShackleStone, so what’s their next course of action? Avenge it.”
Armin opened his mouth to reply, then was distracted by a group of people hurrying along the street, pushing past him as if they hadn't noticed he was there. All of them were carrying belongings and looked harried. 'Huh, looks like everyone's already getting ready to evacuate. This place'll be deserted soon.'
(ey yo Draco want me to copy over the last doggo squaddo thingmie I did or are you good? also I just remembered the fact that the reinforcements are going to the orphanage oh no)
'Alright.' Armin turned to follow while glancing over his shoulder. He wondered where Jerry's father had gone when he left the hotel. 'So, we're going back to the city tonight to sort out this problem of Dianne's?'
Mortikai, Forrest and Diras soon reach the Tower, dodging around the crowd of non-humans that had gathered and were yelling at each other for various reasons, something about a break-in. Forrest attempts to stop someone and ask what the matter was, but Mortikai simply grabs the back of his top and drags him off up the stairs. Diras growls, but with a look from Forrest as he grabs Mortikai's arm and forces his hand away, the undead dragonling quietens down.
“Yup. You know the drill, try not to insult her if you value your face.” {Jerry fidgets a bit.} “God, mom’ll kill me if Dad comes back without a face. “
'Most of your family wants me dead,' Armin pointed out, shrugging. 'I don't think it makes much difference what I say. But alright. I'll try not to annoy anyone.'
@Draco "I...guess?" Keenan looks deep in thought for a moment. "But don't vampires drink blood or something? Would they even have a circulatory system?" He frowns in a way that suggests that he no longer had any idea what he was talking about. He lets there be a long pause before speaking again. "Hey, what time is it? Doesn't look like there's a clock in here..." The lion shifter says as he slips off the counter, heading for the nearest window and pulling back the curtains, squinting at the sky. "Uh...about 3 pm? Does that sound about right?"
(I'm guessing it's still about mid-afternoon?? ;w;)
“Thank you. I’d rather not have anyone die before we get at Sargon.” {Having arrived at the hotel again, the pair are greeted by Jerry’s father and Eliza.} Jerry’s father: “We’re ready. How about you two?” {Despite addressing the pair, Jerry’s father’s gaze never leaves Armin.}
{With the inhuman army in tow, inspector Fleur stops in front of the orphanage.} “Human scent? Here? How curious!” {Directing a pair of sorcerers to follow him, the inspector approaches the front door. }
'I think so,' Armin replied. He noticed Jerry's father staring at him, and returned the stare levelly. He wasn't afraid of him, but wasn't going to let his guard down around the man.
Ivy was trailing along behind Eliza, looking bored.
Ivy narrowed her eyes, but after a moment of consideration, she nodded. 'OK. But next time you two go off on an expedition, I'm coming with you. As soon as I get some training, you won't be able to leave me behind anymore.' Armin rolled his eyes.
@Draco/Aggron Keenan peers out of the window further, spotting dragon shifters flying over and landing nearby, then realises that they're coming to the door of the orphanage. "Uh oh...we got company."
Back in the games room, Toby whines quietly, nudging Ango to wake her up, which she eventually does. "Huh...? Tobes? What's up?" She looks around, noticing the absence of Keenan and Thorn. "Where'd they go?" Untangling herself carefully from Emelia, she stands, stretches, then picks up her mask and puts it back on, petting Toby on the head. "Let's go see, shall we?"
{Not waiting for any more chit chat, Jerry's father brushes past them.} "C'mon, we don't have all afternoon! We'll wait for nightfall at that forest base of yours."
Several of the dragonshifters behind the inspector started making sounds of impatience. 'Can't we just smash the door down and walk inside?' one complained. 'It's probably just some humans hiding.'
'How do you even know about that?' Armin muttered, but Jerry's father had already walked past. Ivy hung back in the hotel with the rest of the family, looking bored but resigned.
Crowley slashed the first opponent's throat before they had time to react. Teleporting himself out of harm's way, he appeared once again in front of the group, grinning wildly as blood dripped from the end of his knife.
The leader of the group stumbled backwards in shock, glancing between Crowley and his dying comrade. Then rage filled his expression. With a roar, he shifted into his dragon form, ten feet tall with shiny black scales and curved horns like a ram. He shot a blast of fire at Crowley, nearly setting the whole street alight. Crowley teleported again, this time materialising on a nearby rooftop.
Grinning in delight, he scanned the now frantic patrol group. There were eight in total; the dragonshifter, four young werewolves, and three vampires. He raised his knife and jumped down to attack again.
{Inspector Fleur turns around at his followers scoldingly.} "Because there are nonhuman scents mingled in with them as well, you imbesciles! Every drop of nonhuman blood shed is a terrible waste, so we go for le hustle! Now fall back in line and follow my lead!" {He whispers hoarsely.}
Armin thought about it, but didn't remember, so he just shrugged. 'Nope. But I wasn't paying attention anyway. So, whose car are we taking to get there? Do you people even have one?'
The patrol group were starting to scatter in opposite directions, not willing to face Crowley in open combat. The young shifter managed to gather most of his comrades together and fled back to Atlas Tower, throwing Crowley a hateful glance as he did so. In just a few seconds, the streetside was deserted.
Frowning slightly, Crowley leapt down from the roof. 'Huh. That was disappointing. You guys were cowards.' He sheathed his knife. 'Maybe I should track you all down and kill y - ARGH!'
He let out a yelp as someone grabbed him around the neck from behind, getting him in a headlock. He struggled, but whoever it was was much stronger than him. 'Who the hell are you?' he exclaimed, aggravated.
"Of course we have our own cars." {Eliza piped up.} "How do you think we got here?" Jerry:"Dad'll probably want to take us in his own car, but I need to get the rifle under the seat of yours."
'I'm alright with that,' said Armin. 'Well, as long as his car's big enough for everyone, of course.' He glanced at Jerry. 'You can go get your gun if you like. My car isn't locked. I'll just wait around here until we're all ready to go.'
'I'm the one who's going to kill you unless you shut up and get out of here,' said a voice behind Crowley. It was deep, male, and had a faint accent he couldn't place. 'You're very lucky that you only killed one of my companions. Any more, and I wouldn't even consider letting you go.'
'Tough talk for the guy whose patrol just ran away like scared rabbits,' Crowley sneered. 'How about you let me go now and we'll decide who's really stronger? I promise I won't hurt you TOO much...'
The stranger let him go with a shove, making him stumble forwards. Whirling around and pulling out his knife, Crowley took a moment to observe the man who'd almost killed him. He was tall and slim, with long, slicked-back blond hair and crimson eyes. A vampire.
Crowley grinned. 'I can fight you.'
'We'll see.' Drawing a long dagger, the vampire ran forwards and struck at him.
The small group ascends the tower, soon reaching the room where Sargon's room was located. Before opening the door to his office and presenting the young traitor before the two powerful forces of the Count and Dark Brink, he turns to the necromancer, smiling darkly. "You're about to go up against your judge and your jury. Are you ready for the verdict?" "Of course." Forrest scoff, crossing his arms and looking far too confident, despite his immanent fate. "Very well then." Mortikai knocks, then opens the doors, suprised to see no one. "Hm. Looks like your sentencing has been prolonged." ""Sentencing"? That doesn't sound to friendly." "Oh don't worry, I'm just...bringing a theme to my words. You'd understand if you've lived as long as I have."
Once the chaos left by Crowley and Vitis' thieving attempt had been cleared up, Sargon headed upstairs to his room, accompanied by a curious Lord Grimm. 'So,' the old dragonshifter queried, 'we're going to talk about the situation now? I can't help but notice you have very poor control over your troops. Perhaps I can help you with that?'
Before Sargon could answer, they reached the door to his room and found it already open. Sargon saw Mortikai inside and realised what must have happened instantly. 'My apologies,' he said. 'I must attend to this.'
'Of course,' said Grimm, bowing respectfully.
They both walked inside, and the Count took a moment to survey the group consisting of Morty, Forrest, and Diras. 'I see you found them,' he said quietly, directing his words at the cat shifter.
{Jerry nods and departs. Eliza takes this time to approach Armin.} "Hey, sorry about that shameful display back there, y'know, but they're, uh....suspicious of....people....." {She says while fidgeting a bit.} "I just hope you don't think less of me for their actions..."
He looked startled for a moment that she was saying anything, but then smiled at her. 'Thank you,' he said. 'And of course not. I know you're not like them. And I guess I can understand their behaviour, if they've had bad experiences with people like me before.'
Crowley darted backwards, avoiding the strike by a hairs-breadth. But his opponent was faster than him, taking him by surprise. A second dagger blow caught him in the leg, slashing to the bone and making him stumble and fall to one knee.
'Damn it!' he growled. 'I'm better than you!' he added, knowing how childish it sounded, but not caring.
The vampire sheathed his dagger. 'Get out of here,' he said. 'Come anywhere near my people again, and I'll destroy you.'
'Yeah, yeah.' Mustering his power, Crowley teleported. He didn't really fix a destination in mind, but somehow ended up in front of the orphanage. He saw the group of non-humans preparing to enter. Curiosity took a hold on him, and limping heavily, he walked over to investigate.
'B-but by then it might be too late,' Sheldon said uncertainly. He glanced over his shoulder as if he expected to see the 'evil people' sneaking up on him right there and then. 'Shouldn't we... shouldn't we at least think about leaving? Just in case?'
"Yeah, really, //really// bad experiences with people like you." {Eliza adds.} "Vampires specifically." {Looking around to make sure no one was listening, Eliza leans in and whispers} "You didn't hear this from me, but Aunt Sarah lost her whole family to a group of them when she was a little girl. That's why she keeps giving you those death stares. I'd keep my distance from her if I were you."
{When Crowley arrives, the inspector was once again attempting to coax the inhabitants of the orphanage out.} "Open le door. We are police officers, and we will take you to safety."
A look of consternation crossed Armin's face. 'That's bad. In that case, I don't blame her for the... death stares at all. I've lost family, too. Not in the same way, but... I've lost them. I guess I know what it's like.' He smiled grimly and tried to change the subject. 'So, what about you? Any terrible experiences with my kind?'
'Hey, what's going on?' Crowley asked the group in general as he drew closer. 'What's that guy with the stupid accent trying to do? Just break the door down or something.'
@All Ango freezes in the hallway, grabbing a hold of Toby's collar to make sure he wouldn't run off and try to protect her. "Keenan? Thorn?" She whispers, just quiet enough that whoever was outside wouldn't hear. The lion shifter peers carefully out of the window, seeing the crowds of non-humans outside. "They do not look friendly at all...Are they tryin' to get in?" He wonders out loud, eventually moving to go down the hall, stopping when he sees Ango. "What's going on?" Hesitantly, she removes her mask so Keenan would be able to read her lips as she spoke, looking a little uncomfortable about it. "Some weirdos are trying to get in. Distract them while I get my mum and Jed, there's a back door in the kitchen we can leave by." "What? Why me?" "You're non-human! They won't maul you on sight!" "Fine, I guess so."
@Radiant Seeing Sargon's arrival, Mortikai takes his hat off and bows, neatly replacing it back on his head. "Yes sir. I believe this is the last we...you needed, correct?" He shifts slightly at calling the vampire "sir", not used to using it much. "Forrest Girah and Diras, necromancer and undead dragonling. A traitor to Dark Brink and a simple pawn. Perhaps one of your other necromancers would like a new pet?" Mortikai grins slightly, seeing the look of anger on the young boy's face, unable to voice it.
"There will be no mauling! Human or not, there will be no mauling!" {The inspector says to the inhabitants, ear to the door now, and blatantly ignoring Crowley.} "Just open le door and you all can walk out le front gate."
{Picking up on the fact that Armin likely didn't want to talk about who he lost and how, Eliza shrugs and follows with the conversation.}"Not with vampires in particular. Sorcerers, on the other hand, well, I sure don't care for them. I had a pretty crappy run in with a time wizard once, and, well, that's why I look like a kid now. Bast.ard sent me back a few years."
Looking indignant that the inspector wasn't paying attention, Crowley shoved past him and limped around to the side of the building, where he found a window. It wasn't open, but he threw a stone at it to break the glass, and then climbed inside.
'Hey! What's in this rat-hole that's so important?' he yelled to no-one in particular. He wasn't in the same room as the others, but they would probably hear his voice.
'In that case, you had better call Dark Brink to ensure that this IS the one we needed,' said the Count, ignoring the last thing Morty had said. 'If things have gone according to plan, then we will not need to find any more traitors. Our task to him will be complete.'
Lord Grimm glanced between everyone in the room, frowning slightly. 'Dark Brink? I'm sure I've heard that name somewhere. I can't see why you'd be working with him.'
While everyone else was talking, Anastasia wandered into the room and immediately gave a small squeal at the sight of Diras. Apparently, she found rotting zombie dragons adorable.
'Really?' Armin eyed her. 'That sounds like the kind of thing most people would be happy about. Looking younger than you actually are. Though I suppose it's more of a problem if you're already quite young.' He thought about it for a moment, then shrugged. 'I don't have a problem with how you look. I know you're not really a little kid.'
{Eliza rubbed the back of her head.} "Heh, if I was as old as old man Garvey, I'd be pretty thrilled to be this young again. But, I just got rid of being treated like a kid, so this is a little annoying to me." {Just then, a military style hummer pulled up next to the pair. Jerry's father (Old Man Garvey) was in the driver's seat and Jerry was in the passenger's seat.} Jerry's father: "Hey, we going, or what? Get in."
Not deigning to talk to Jerry's father, Armin approached the car and pulled the door open, ready to climb into the back seat. Then he paused and glanced back over his shoulder at Eliza. 'Are you coming? Or are you staying here with everyone else?'
{Running past him and climbing into the back seat, Eliza smiles mischievously at Armin.} "Oh, I'm coming all right. I gotta make sure this sorceress doesn't turn you into her own personal minions or something."
'Not going to happen,' Armin replied, smiling slightly. 'From what I've heard, she's more likely to just kill us all.' //Hmm, that didn't sound reassuring, did it?// he thought, then decided he didn't care. 'You have weapons, right?'
{Eliza laughs.} "Of course she'd kill you, idgit! She's a necromancer! Yes, I have weapons. My accuracy with a sidearm is second only to my cousin." {With everyone in the car, Old Man Garvey starts driving.}
'That's good.' Remembering something, Armin slipped a hand into his pocket and was relieved to find the small pistol he'd taken from Jerry's office on the night of the invasion. Coupled with the large sword strapped across his back, he was well-armed. 'Though I hope it doesn't come to having to fight her.'
{Jerry turns to the pair in the back seat.}"Hey, no one's fighting anyone, ok? She's an ally, not an enemy." Old Man Garvey: "But if it does come to that, that's why there's four of us."
'She's an ally who probably wouldn't mind killing us,' said Armin under his breath. 'And after her house got broken into, I bet she's not going to be in a good mood.'
He fell silent and turned to watch the view out of the side window.
Armin swung himself out of the back seat and followed, quickly overtaking Jerry and his dad. 'Hey, this is my house,' he objected. 'Let me get the door for you all.'
He hurried to the front door and opened it, before stepping sideways to let everyone else in first, grinning slightly.
{Jerry gives a confused look while Old Man Garvey gives Armin a sideways look. Eliza, the third one in, just smiles pleasantly at Armin.} Eliza: "My, what a gentleman."
Armin let himself in as soon as the others had entered, taking care to close the door behind him. He lingered in the front hallway for a moment, taking in the sight of the old house which hadn't changed at all since he was last here. Then, with a small sigh, he followed the rest of the group to whichever room they were going in.
{The group enters the livingroom and produces a map of ShackleStone.} Jerry: "Ok, we need to get to Dianne. Not sure if the gates are guarded yet. Haven't been the last two times." Old Man Garvey:"Really? If Sargon's that careless, this'll be easier than I thought." Eliza:"We shouldn't underestimate him. We should play it safe and go through the eastside aquaduct. Can't save the world if we're D.O.A."
Armin sat down on the couch and looked at the map. 'Maybe he doesn't consider the main gates all that important. I mean, anyone who enters the city unannounced is probably going to get killed, captured, or scared off by his troops, anyway. Wait, the east aquaduct? I've never been that way before.'
Before the inspector and his troops could attempt to force their way inside, Crowley sauntered - or rather limped - through the hallways, looking for someone. 'I know there's people in here,' he called out. 'I can smell you. And one of you smells reeeeally familiar,' he added, catching Keenan and Thorn's scents from somewhere further away.
(I kinda lost track of where everyone is, are they all in the same room? XD)
'Uhm... sure,' said Sheldon uncertainly. He stepped into the house, throwing a glance back at Tochi to make sure she was following. He edged past Henry with as wide a berth as he could manage.
(Ango, Toby, Keenan and Thorn are in the hallway near the kitchen and the front door, while I think Jed and Emilia are still in the games room)
@All Ango freezes at Crowley's voice, recognising it as the dragon they had met at the hospital. "Just- do something! And quick!" She hisses, turning back to get Jed and Emilia so they could leave. The lion shifter nods slightly, turning to Thorn. "I...guess we just open the door and stall for a bit? If that bird dude comes over here and tries to fight us, we could run out and get them lot to fight instead." He says quickly, watching the door and further down the hallway.
@Radiant/Aggron Diras looks up at Ana, boney tail wagging slightly at her quiet squeal. Forrest hits the undead dragonling on the side of the head, looking slightly disgusted at his liking of someone other than his master. Diras whines slightly, sitting down and looking ashamed. "Of course." Mortikai smiles slightly, putting his arms behind his back. "My Dark Lord, we have delivered the last traitor for you. Come, evaluate his sins." He says with a slight dramatic flair, clearly putting it on a little for Lord Grimm. A black mass moves from his shadow, molding into the feline form of Dark Brink. It leaps up onto Mortikai's shoulder, grin curling. //I see we have a newcomer in our midst. Welcome, Lord Grimm. And welcome, Forrest Styx. Your faith to our cause and your gratitude for your gift has dwindled, causing your mark to run red with your traitorous blood. What do you have to say for yourself?// "I found a much better cause to play a part in, and all you gave me was a tool to do so." Forrest says with a certain bitterness in his voice. "You do nothing to help us, so I found someone who would." Dark Brink laughs, a terrifying, echoing sound, as he walks across Mortikai's shoulders and down his arm, staying perfectly upright despite the sharp decline. //You're a fool. You forget that you were a scared child once, wishing for revenge and a friend to help you enact it. You forget how cautious you were at contacting a powerful being such as I. You forget that you willingly gave your life to me to use as I wished. And now, I wish for my friend to take your life, as a traitor like you no longer needs it.//
Crowley didn't know his way around the orphanage; even while tracking Thorn and Keenan's scents, it took him a long while to locate the kitchen. At that point he got distracted by an arrangement of kitchen knives and paused to steal a few, not noticing that the group were just down the hallway from where he was.
Sargon nodded, looking as if he'd expected nothing less. 'Would you like me to have him moved to the room where the other... traitors are being kept?' he asked, directing his words at both Mortikai and Dark Brink. 'Then you can deal with him at your leisure.' He glanced around, taking note of how many people were here now: himself, Ana, Forrest, Diras, Grimm, Morty, and now Brink. 'I would like this room cleared as quickly as possible. I have a meeting with somebody.'
'A meeting?' Grimm tore his gaze away from Brink and looked disapprovingly at the vampire. 'We had already agreed to discuss our plans.'
'This is more important,' said Sargon, looking annoyed by the interruption.
In the corner, Ana leaned against a wall, keeping her attention on Diras. She didn't seem to notice or care that someone was being sentenced to death in front of her.
{After a bit of deliberation, the group decides to scope out the front gate before going for the duct.} Jerry: "Alright, we depart at nightfall. Armin, make sure you alter your appearance a bit better this time, we don't want to be found out so easily again."
'We didn't get spotted until near the end,' said Armin. 'And it's not like you did much better than me - your idea of a 'disguise' was to take your hat off and make yourself stink like werewolf. But yes, can do that.'
* * * *
Back in Riverside, Ivy had wandered away from the hotel and gone to explore the village by herself. Most of the shops were quiet now - some were already shut, the staff having left to prepare for evacuation. She sighed a little as she walked up and down the empty street.
{The inspector face palms upon hearing Crowley in the building. Instructing two dragon shifters to cover the front door, he climbs into the window where Crowley entered. Mistakenly thinking he was one of Sargon's, he roughly grabs Crowley by the collar and starts to drag Crowley back towards the window.} "You imbecile! Can't you follow simple orders?! Where does Sargon find these idiots!"
Crowley yelped and started struggling. 'HEY! I'm not one of your idiot soldiers! Let go or I'll cut your neck open and use your blood to paint the walls!' He was still holding one of the serrated kitchen knives, and brandished it threateningly over his shoulder.
{The inspector gives Crowley an annoyed look. The inspector knew that he was physically stronger than this psychotic punk, who was impeding his plans, so he decided to try to do away with him. Grabbing Crowley's knife hand, he slams the side of Crowley's head into the wall before dropping him to the floor.}"If you are not with Sargon, then you are against him!"
(Hmm, I'm not sure. I have a conversation scene planned between Sargon and a minion after the thing with Brink is finished, so maybe we could say dark falls around that time?)
Crowley let out a grunt at the blow, but regained enough of his senses to act quickly. He teleported himself just behind the inspector, then in the same instant pulled back his knife, reversed it, and hit the inspector over the head with the hilt. 'Hyaa! Take that, weirdo!'

Heeey, should we maybe go ahead and start now? I'm not sure when Aggron will show up.
(Draco) I don't remember who did the last post for sheldtoch but I'm gonna write a bit for sheld if that's alright--
10 Feb, 2018, 8:03 pm
alrIGHTy go ahead
10 Feb, 2018, 8:07 pm
(Draco)
They were just walking into the village when Sheldon suddenly spoke up. 'There's something strange going on... Look.' He pointed at a family of people who were hurrying towards their car, carrying several heavy trunks. Other people around them were engaged in similar activities. 'It almost seems like everyone in the village is getting ready to leave, or something...'
10 Feb, 2018, 8:10 pm
"Oh, dear... do they think this place is going to go down like Shacklestone?" Tochi wondered worriedly. "Or do they... KNOW it's going to happen?"
10 Feb, 2018, 8:12 pm
(Draco)
'I don't know...' said Sheldon. He glanced around nervously. Riverside was bustling with activity. 'Maybe they're going to leave, in case... in case something DOES happen. Does that mean WE'LL have to leave, too?'
10 Feb, 2018, 8:17 pm
10 Feb, 2018, 8:20 pm
(Draco)
'Oh... th-that's true.' Sheldon had been trying not to think too hard about the future. //Is Sargon's army really big and powerful enough to take over the whole country?// he thought, then shuddered and changed the subject. 'Maybe... we should go and check on your grandparents? They might not have realised everyone is evacuating...'
10 Feb, 2018, 8:22 pm
"Ah, yes," Tochi nodded quickly. "Let's do that. We can help them out with packing and stuff too."
10 Feb, 2018, 8:25 pm
(Draco)
Sheldon hesitated, as he didn't really want to encounter Henry again that day, but quickly realised that he'd rather stick with Tochi than go wandering off in a foreign town all by himself. He kept walking, and within a few minutes the two of them had arrived outside her grandparents' house. He halted by the door and glanced uncertainly at Tochi, waiting for her to knock or just let them inside.
10 Feb, 2018, 8:27 pm
Here.
10 Feb, 2018, 8:28 pm
(Hey Aggron!)
10 Feb, 2018, 8:29 pm
Tochi didn't bother knocking, simply walking inside. "Grandma! Grandpa!" she called. "Are you home?"
Caroline appeared as soon as she'd finished speaking. "Oh yes, Tochi, we're here. Did you two need something?"
10 Feb, 2018, 8:32 pm
(Draco)
Sheldon shuffled awkwardly in the front hallway, not knowing what to say. 'Um... everyone's leaving,' he blurted out. 'I mean, the whole village is evacuating, because of, uhm, the evil people.'

{Jerry shakes his head.} “I disagree. Everyone knows humans relish war, whether we admit it or not. Just look at who showed up to oppose him, my whole crazy, hella racist family, guns in hand and blood in their mouths. He kicked a hornets nest, he just doesn’t know it yet.”
10 Feb, 2018, 8:53 pm
(Aggron)
'Yeahhh, he probably didn't think it through as well as he should have done,' said Armin dryly. 'He underestimates humans. He didn't think anyone would be strong or brave enough to fight against him after he did what he did.'
10 Feb, 2018, 9:03 pm
“He’s an idiot if he thinks that. “ {Jerry replied.} “People like my family thrive off the cycle of revenge. It gives them an excuse to take their hatred out on others. Humans couldn’t save ShackleStone, so what’s their next course of action? Avenge it.”
10 Feb, 2018, 9:06 pm
(Aggron)
Armin opened his mouth to reply, then was distracted by a group of people hurrying along the street, pushing past him as if they hadn't noticed he was there. All of them were carrying belongings and looked harried. 'Huh, looks like everyone's already getting ready to evacuate. This place'll be deserted soon.'
10 Feb, 2018, 9:11 pm
(ey yo Draco
want me to copy over the last doggo squaddo thingmie I did or are you good?
also I just remembered the fact that the reinforcements are going to the orphanage oh no)
10 Feb, 2018, 9:15 pm
{Jerry nods in agreement.}”Yep. They’ll be safer elsewhere. Anyway, let’s head back.”
10 Feb, 2018, 9:20 pm
(Aggron)
'Alright.' Armin turned to follow while glancing over his shoulder. He wondered where Jerry's father had gone when he left the hotel. 'So, we're going back to the city tonight to sort out this problem of Dianne's?'
10 Feb, 2018, 9:23 pm
Mortikai, Forrest and Diras soon reach the Tower, dodging around the crowd of non-humans that had gathered and were yelling at each other for various reasons, something about a break-in. Forrest attempts to stop someone and ask what the matter was, but Mortikai simply grabs the back of his top and drags him off up the stairs. Diras growls, but with a look from Forrest as he grabs Mortikai's arm and forces his hand away, the undead dragonling quietens down.
10 Feb, 2018, 9:24 pm
"I think sleeping upside down would be weirder?" Thorn said. "I mean... wouldn't the blood all run to your head?"
(i think that was the last dogsquad post
10 Feb, 2018, 9:26 pm
“Yup. You know the drill, try not to insult her if you value your face.” {Jerry fidgets a bit.} “God, mom’ll kill me if Dad comes back without a face. “
10 Feb, 2018, 9:31 pm
(Aggron)
Armin thought about this for a moment, and then snickered. 'I think that would look good on him. I'm going to hope that happens.'
10 Feb, 2018, 9:44 pm
{Jerry gives Armin a disapproving look.}”Don’t say that to their face. Aunt Sarah already wants you dead, don’t give her a reason.”
10 Feb, 2018, 9:47 pm
(Aggron)
'Most of your family wants me dead,' Armin pointed out, shrugging. 'I don't think it makes much difference what I say. But alright. I'll try not to annoy anyone.'
10 Feb, 2018, 10:04 pm
@Draco
"I...guess?"
Keenan looks deep in thought for a moment.
"But don't vampires drink blood or something? Would they even have a circulatory system?"
He frowns in a way that suggests that he no longer had any idea what he was talking about. He lets there be a long pause before speaking again.
"Hey, what time is it? Doesn't look like there's a clock in here..."
The lion shifter says as he slips off the counter, heading for the nearest window and pulling back the curtains, squinting at the sky.
"Uh...about 3 pm? Does that sound about right?"
(I'm guessing it's still about mid-afternoon?? ;w;)
10 Feb, 2018, 10:07 pm
(King - More or less, I think. XD)
10 Feb, 2018, 10:08 pm
“Thank you. I’d rather not have anyone die before we get at Sargon.” {Having arrived at the hotel again, the pair are greeted by Jerry’s father and Eliza.}
Jerry’s father: “We’re ready. How about you two?”
{Despite addressing the pair, Jerry’s father’s gaze never leaves Armin.}
10 Feb, 2018, 10:12 pm
(Oh, shet! I forgot to do le inspector vs doggo squad! XD Inbound!)
10 Feb, 2018, 10:17 pm
{With the inhuman army in tow, inspector Fleur stops in front of the orphanage.} “Human scent? Here? How curious!” {Directing a pair of sorcerers to follow him, the inspector approaches the front door. }
10 Feb, 2018, 10:17 pm
(They're all going to die I stg
unless Keenan goes super sayian or they sneak away all sneaky like)
10 Feb, 2018, 10:18 pm
(Aggron)
'I think so,' Armin replied. He noticed Jerry's father staring at him, and returned the stare levelly. He wasn't afraid of him, but wasn't going to let his guard down around the man.
Ivy was trailing along behind Eliza, looking bored.
10 Feb, 2018, 10:21 pm
(King - Nooo they'll be fine
they'll find some magical way to escape)
10 Feb, 2018, 10:26 pm
{Jerry nodded then turned to Ivy.} “Ivy, I’d rather you stay and get some training with my family. Trust me, it’ll be better that way.”
10 Feb, 2018, 10:33 pm
(Aggron)
Ivy narrowed her eyes, but after a moment of consideration, she nodded. 'OK. But next time you two go off on an expedition, I'm coming with you. As soon as I get some training, you won't be able to leave me behind anymore.' Armin rolled his eyes.
10 Feb, 2018, 10:59 pm
(Pssst, I might have to go soon. I've no idea when my wifi is getting switched off, but I'll try to warn you all before it is.)
10 Feb, 2018, 11:10 pm
(I wonder if King will suddenly appear if I say the word satan
Satan)
10 Feb, 2018, 11:21 pm
(I think I'm just gonna go, nobody's here anyway. I'll check back to reply to stuff in the morning--)
10 Feb, 2018, 11:26 pm
(Hi)
(Oh no everyone's dead)
10 Feb, 2018, 11:31 pm
@Draco/Aggron
Keenan peers out of the window further, spotting dragon shifters flying over and landing nearby, then realises that they're coming to the door of the orphanage.
"Uh oh...we got company."
Back in the games room, Toby whines quietly, nudging Ango to wake her up, which she eventually does.
"Huh...? Tobes? What's up?"
She looks around, noticing the absence of Keenan and Thorn.
"Where'd they go?"
Untangling herself carefully from Emelia, she stands, stretches, then picks up her mask and puts it back on, petting Toby on the head.
"Let's go see, shall we?"
11 Feb, 2018, 4:39 am
{The inspector tries the handle to the orphanage before speaking.}"This is le police! Open the door! You're safe now."
11 Feb, 2018, 4:41 am
{Not waiting for any more chit chat, Jerry's father brushes past them.} "C'mon, we don't have all afternoon! We'll wait for nightfall at that forest base of yours."
11 Feb, 2018, 10:29 am
(Aggron/King)
Several of the dragonshifters behind the inspector started making sounds of impatience. 'Can't we just smash the door down and walk inside?' one complained. 'It's probably just some humans hiding.'
11 Feb, 2018, 10:30 am
(Aggron)
'How do you even know about that?' Armin muttered, but Jerry's father had already walked past. Ivy hung back in the hotel with the rest of the family, looking bored but resigned.
11 Feb, 2018, 10:34 am
12 Feb, 2018, 8:36 am
{Inspector Fleur turns around at his followers scoldingly.} "Because there are nonhuman scents mingled in with them as well, you imbesciles! Every drop of nonhuman blood shed is a terrible waste, so we go for le hustle! Now fall back in line and follow my lead!" {He whispers hoarsely.}
12 Feb, 2018, 8:39 am
{Jerry gives Armin a look of disbelief.}"I told everyone during the brief, don't you remember?"
12 Feb, 2018, 12:11 pm
(Aggron)
The shifters immediately fell silent and gathered behind him, their complaints cut off as if somebody had flicked a switch.
12 Feb, 2018, 12:13 pm
(Aggron)
Armin thought about it, but didn't remember, so he just shrugged. 'Nope. But I wasn't paying attention anyway. So, whose car are we taking to get there? Do you people even have one?'
12 Feb, 2018, 12:16 pm
12 Feb, 2018, 6:49 pm
"Of course we have our own cars." {Eliza piped up.} "How do you think we got here?"
Jerry:"Dad'll probably want to take us in his own car, but I need to get the rifle under the seat of yours."
12 Feb, 2018, 7:05 pm
(Aggron)
'I'm alright with that,' said Armin. 'Well, as long as his car's big enough for everyone, of course.' He glanced at Jerry. 'You can go get your gun if you like. My car isn't locked. I'll just wait around here until we're all ready to go.'
12 Feb, 2018, 7:13 pm
12 Feb, 2018, 8:16 pm
The small group ascends the tower, soon reaching the room where Sargon's room was located. Before opening the door to his office and presenting the young traitor before the two powerful forces of the Count and Dark Brink, he turns to the necromancer, smiling darkly.
"You're about to go up against your judge and your jury. Are you ready for the verdict?"
"Of course."
Forrest scoff, crossing his arms and looking far too confident, despite his immanent fate.
"Very well then."
Mortikai knocks, then opens the doors, suprised to see no one.
"Hm. Looks like your sentencing has been prolonged."
""Sentencing"? That doesn't sound to friendly."
"Oh don't worry, I'm just...bringing a theme to my words. You'd understand if you've lived as long as I have."
12 Feb, 2018, 8:41 pm
(King)
12 Feb, 2018, 10:27 pm
{Jerry nods and departs. Eliza takes this time to approach Armin.} "Hey, sorry about that shameful display back there, y'know, but they're, uh....suspicious of....people....." {She says while fidgeting a bit.} "I just hope you don't think less of me for their actions..."
13 Feb, 2018, 11:40 am
(Aggron)
He looked startled for a moment that she was saying anything, but then smiled at her. 'Thank you,' he said. 'And of course not. I know you're not like them. And I guess I can understand their behaviour, if they've had bad experiences with people like me before.'
13 Feb, 2018, 11:46 am
13 Feb, 2018, 2:32 pm
(this is draco)
"Oh my. Are the evil people already here?" Caroline asked, ignoring Henry as he appeared behind her holding Richard the slug.
"I'm pretty sure they're not," Tochi replied. "I told Sheldon we shouldn't worry until we're really sure they're coming."
13 Feb, 2018, 4:00 pm
(Draco)
'B-but by then it might be too late,' Sheldon said uncertainly. He glanced over his shoulder as if he expected to see the 'evil people' sneaking up on him right there and then. 'Shouldn't we... shouldn't we at least think about leaving? Just in case?'
13 Feb, 2018, 8:00 pm
"Yeah, really, //really// bad experiences with people like you." {Eliza adds.} "Vampires specifically." {Looking around to make sure no one was listening, Eliza leans in and whispers} "You didn't hear this from me, but Aunt Sarah lost her whole family to a group of them when she was a little girl. That's why she keeps giving you those death stares. I'd keep my distance from her if I were you."
13 Feb, 2018, 8:03 pm
{When Crowley arrives, the inspector was once again attempting to coax the inhabitants of the orphanage out.} "Open le door. We are police officers, and we will take you to safety."
13 Feb, 2018, 8:04 pm
(Aggron)
A look of consternation crossed Armin's face. 'That's bad. In that case, I don't blame her for the... death stares at all. I've lost family, too. Not in the same way, but... I've lost them. I guess I know what it's like.' He smiled grimly and tried to change the subject. 'So, what about you? Any terrible experiences with my kind?'
13 Feb, 2018, 8:05 pm
(Aggron)
'Hey, what's going on?' Crowley asked the group in general as he drew closer. 'What's that guy with the stupid accent trying to do? Just break the door down or something.'
13 Feb, 2018, 8:05 pm
(Replying so quickly makes it look like I stalk this room 24/7. XD)
13 Feb, 2018, 11:13 pm
@All
Ango freezes in the hallway, grabbing a hold of Toby's collar to make sure he wouldn't run off and try to protect her.
"Keenan? Thorn?"
She whispers, just quiet enough that whoever was outside wouldn't hear.
The lion shifter peers carefully out of the window, seeing the crowds of non-humans outside.
"They do not look friendly at all...Are they tryin' to get in?"
He wonders out loud, eventually moving to go down the hall, stopping when he sees Ango.
"What's going on?"
Hesitantly, she removes her mask so Keenan would be able to read her lips as she spoke, looking a little uncomfortable about it.
"Some weirdos are trying to get in. Distract them while I get my mum and Jed, there's a back door in the kitchen we can leave by."
"What? Why me?"
"You're non-human! They won't maul you on sight!"
"Fine, I guess so."
13 Feb, 2018, 11:20 pm
@Radiant
Seeing Sargon's arrival, Mortikai takes his hat off and bows, neatly replacing it back on his head.
"Yes sir. I believe this is the last we...you needed, correct?"
He shifts slightly at calling the vampire "sir", not used to using it much.
"Forrest Girah and Diras, necromancer and undead dragonling. A traitor to Dark Brink and a simple pawn. Perhaps one of your other necromancers would like a new pet?"
Mortikai grins slightly, seeing the look of anger on the young boy's face, unable to voice it.
13 Feb, 2018, 11:28 pm
"There will be no mauling! Human or not, there will be no mauling!" {The inspector says to the inhabitants, ear to the door now, and blatantly ignoring Crowley.} "Just open le door and you all can walk out le front gate."
13 Feb, 2018, 11:29 pm
{Picking up on the fact that Armin likely didn't want to talk about who he lost and how, Eliza shrugs and follows with the conversation.}"Not with vampires in particular. Sorcerers, on the other hand, well, I sure don't care for them. I had a pretty crappy run in with a time wizard once, and, well, that's why I look like a kid now. Bast.ard sent me back a few years."
14 Feb, 2018, 11:07 am
(Aggron/King)
Looking indignant that the inspector wasn't paying attention, Crowley shoved past him and limped around to the side of the building, where he found a window. It wasn't open, but he threw a stone at it to break the glass, and then climbed inside.
'Hey! What's in this rat-hole that's so important?' he yelled to no-one in particular. He wasn't in the same room as the others, but they would probably hear his voice.
14 Feb, 2018, 11:11 am
(King)
14 Feb, 2018, 11:16 am
(Aggron)
'Really?' Armin eyed her. 'That sounds like the kind of thing most people would be happy about. Looking younger than you actually are. Though I suppose it's more of a problem if you're already quite young.' He thought about it for a moment, then shrugged. 'I don't have a problem with how you look. I know you're not really a little kid.'
14 Feb, 2018, 5:52 pm
{Eliza rubbed the back of her head.} "Heh, if I was as old as old man Garvey, I'd be pretty thrilled to be this young again. But, I just got rid of being treated like a kid, so this is a little annoying to me."
{Just then, a military style hummer pulled up next to the pair. Jerry's father (Old Man Garvey) was in the driver's seat and Jerry was in the passenger's seat.}
Jerry's father: "Hey, we going, or what? Get in."
14 Feb, 2018, 7:11 pm
(Aggron)
Not deigning to talk to Jerry's father, Armin approached the car and pulled the door open, ready to climb into the back seat. Then he paused and glanced back over his shoulder at Eliza. 'Are you coming? Or are you staying here with everyone else?'
14 Feb, 2018, 7:24 pm
{Running past him and climbing into the back seat, Eliza smiles mischievously at Armin.} "Oh, I'm coming all right. I gotta make sure this sorceress doesn't turn you into her own personal minions or something."
14 Feb, 2018, 7:36 pm
(Aggron)
'Not going to happen,' Armin replied, smiling slightly. 'From what I've heard, she's more likely to just kill us all.' //Hmm, that didn't sound reassuring, did it?// he thought, then decided he didn't care. 'You have weapons, right?'
14 Feb, 2018, 8:17 pm
{Eliza laughs.} "Of course she'd kill you, idgit! She's a necromancer! Yes, I have weapons. My accuracy with a sidearm is second only to my cousin."
{With everyone in the car, Old Man Garvey starts driving.}
14 Feb, 2018, 8:23 pm
(Aggron)
'That's good.' Remembering something, Armin slipped a hand into his pocket and was relieved to find the small pistol he'd taken from Jerry's office on the night of the invasion. Coupled with the large sword strapped across his back, he was well-armed. 'Though I hope it doesn't come to having to fight her.'
14 Feb, 2018, 8:41 pm
{Jerry turns to the pair in the back seat.}"Hey, no one's fighting anyone, ok? She's an ally, not an enemy."
Old Man Garvey: "But if it does come to that, that's why there's four of us."
14 Feb, 2018, 8:43 pm
(Aggron)
'She's an ally who probably wouldn't mind killing us,' said Armin under his breath. 'And after her house got broken into, I bet she's not going to be in a good mood.'
He fell silent and turned to watch the view out of the side window.
14 Feb, 2018, 9:11 pm
{Having given up defending Dianne, Jerry just turns and falls silent.}
...
{The drive to the forest base passes uneventfully and the car stops right in front. Getting off, Old Man Garvey and Jerry approach the house.
14 Feb, 2018, 10:40 pm
(Aggron)
Armin swung himself out of the back seat and followed, quickly overtaking Jerry and his dad. 'Hey, this is my house,' he objected. 'Let me get the door for you all.'
He hurried to the front door and opened it, before stepping sideways to let everyone else in first, grinning slightly.
14 Feb, 2018, 11:35 pm
{Jerry gives a confused look while Old Man Garvey gives Armin a sideways look. Eliza, the third one in, just smiles pleasantly at Armin.}
Eliza: "My, what a gentleman."
15 Feb, 2018, 11:54 am
(Aggron)
Armin let himself in as soon as the others had entered, taking care to close the door behind him. He lingered in the front hallway for a moment, taking in the sight of the old house which hadn't changed at all since he was last here. Then, with a small sigh, he followed the rest of the group to whichever room they were going in.
15 Feb, 2018, 11:02 pm
{The group enters the livingroom and produces a map of ShackleStone.}
Jerry: "Ok, we need to get to Dianne. Not sure if the gates are guarded yet. Haven't been the last two times."
Old Man Garvey:"Really? If Sargon's that careless, this'll be easier than I thought."
Eliza:"We shouldn't underestimate him. We should play it safe and go through the eastside aquaduct. Can't save the world if we're D.O.A."
16 Feb, 2018, 9:26 am
"I'm going to," Thorn spoke up, coming up behind Keenan. Then she heard Crowley's voice from downstairs. "...Oh my god, it's that Crowley guy."
--
"All right, we'll do some preparations in case we need to leave," said Caroline.
"Throw some stuff in a bag and run," Henry agreed, slowly petting Richard.
"Not exactly." Caroline gave the slug a look before turning back to Sheldon and Tochi.
"Want to come inside and we'll decide what to do?"
16 Feb, 2018, 11:20 am
(Aggron)
Armin sat down on the couch and looked at the map. 'Maybe he doesn't consider the main gates all that important. I mean, anyone who enters the city unannounced is probably going to get killed, captured, or scared off by his troops, anyway. Wait, the east aquaduct? I've never been that way before.'
16 Feb, 2018, 11:24 am
(All)
Before the inspector and his troops could attempt to force their way inside, Crowley sauntered - or rather limped - through the hallways, looking for someone. 'I know there's people in here,' he called out. 'I can smell you. And one of you smells reeeeally familiar,' he added, catching Keenan and Thorn's scents from somewhere further away.
(I kinda lost track of where everyone is, are they all in the same room? XD)
16 Feb, 2018, 11:24 am
(Draco)
'Uhm... sure,' said Sheldon uncertainly. He stepped into the house, throwing a glance back at Tochi to make sure she was following. He edged past Henry with as wide a berth as he could manage.
16 Feb, 2018, 11:32 am
(Ango, Toby, Keenan and Thorn are in the hallway near the kitchen and the front door, while I think Jed and Emilia are still in the games room)
@All
Ango freezes at Crowley's voice, recognising it as the dragon they had met at the hospital.
"Just- do something! And quick!"
She hisses, turning back to get Jed and Emilia so they could leave.
The lion shifter nods slightly, turning to Thorn.
"I...guess we just open the door and stall for a bit? If that bird dude comes over here and tries to fight us, we could run out and get them lot to fight instead."
He says quickly, watching the door and further down the hallway.
16 Feb, 2018, 12:17 pm
@Radiant/Aggron
Diras looks up at Ana, boney tail wagging slightly at her quiet squeal. Forrest hits the undead dragonling on the side of the head, looking slightly disgusted at his liking of someone other than his master. Diras whines slightly, sitting down and looking ashamed.
"Of course."
Mortikai smiles slightly, putting his arms behind his back.
"My Dark Lord, we have delivered the last traitor for you. Come, evaluate his sins."
He says with a slight dramatic flair, clearly putting it on a little for Lord Grimm.
What do you have to say for yourself?//
"I found a much better cause to play a part in, and all you gave me was a tool to do so."
Forrest says with a certain bitterness in his voice.
"You do nothing to help us, so I found someone who would."
Dark Brink laughs, a terrifying, echoing sound, as he walks across Mortikai's shoulders and down his arm, staying perfectly upright despite the sharp decline.
//You're a fool. You forget that you were a scared child once, wishing for revenge and a friend to help you enact it. You forget how cautious you were at contacting a powerful being such as I. You forget that you willingly gave your life to me to use as I wished. And now, I wish for my friend to take your life, as a traitor like you no longer needs it.//
16 Feb, 2018, 12:18 pm
(Wait I didn't mean to put the tag of Aggron on there I forgot to change that r.i.p sorry)

{After a bit of deliberation, the group decides to scope out the front gate before going for the duct.}
Jerry: "Alright, we depart at nightfall.

Back in Riverside, Ivy had wandered away from the hotel and gone to explore the village by herself. Most of the shops were quiet now - some were already shut, the staff having left to prepare for evacuation. She sighed a little as she walked up and down the empty street.

{The inspector face palms upon hearing Crowley in the building. Instructing two dragon shifters to cover the front door, he climbs into the window where Crowley entered. Mistakenly thinking he was one of Sargon's, he roughly grabs Crowley by the collar and starts to drag Crowley back towards the window.}
"You imbecile!

(So, what time do we say night falls?)
