Mortikai says with a slight smile as he parts down a flight of stairs, heading for the exit.
Once out, he breathes in the fresh air, stood still for a moment, then continues off down the nearest alleyway, shifting into his housecat form and leaping up onto a wall to get some higher ground. He clambers up to a roof with some practiced expertise, surveying the streets.

After Mortikai left, Sargon started to go back up to his private quarters, then stopped abruptly. A telepathic call was trying to come through - a massive telepathic call. Standing motionless in the corridor, he let it through.

//Count Sargon. It's a pleasure to talk to you in person.//

The voice was deep, rich and confident. Sargon responded with caution, though he had a suspicion about who this man was. //You are the commander of the reinforcement army I asked for, yes? Lord Grimm?//

//Yes, sir,// said the man, with a small chuckle. //As I said, it's a delight to meet you at last. Where do you want us to land? There are just under two hundred of us.//

//Please land in Merchant's Square in the centre of the city. I will come out to greet you personally.//

//Received and understood.//

In the distance, a huge group of creatures were flying towards Shacklestone. Most were dragon shifters, and on their backs rode dozens of vampires, witches and sorcerers.

"Hmmm..." Tochi thought for a minute or two, wandering around the meadow. "I was thinking maybe I could make some sort of fake danger... but that wouldn't work. Maaaaybe... hmm, alright, try thinking of things that make you really angry or scared or something."

//I guess that means, almost anything then,// Sheldon thought. He stared into the distance and tried to focus. Almost immediately, he started imagining all kinds of horrifying scenarios, most of them involving werewolves, dragons, or Tochi being hurt. He let the images fill his mind, thinking only of them. Without warning, a violent shudder struck his body and he collapsed onto all fours with a gasp.

The transformation was so fast that Tochi would barely see it happening. Within seconds, the familiar form of Sheldon melted away, and a huge red-brown wolf stood panting in his place. Slowly, he straightened up and peered around anxiously, shaking his ginger mane out of his eyes.

//I did it?//

Tochi gaped at him, then grinned. "You did it first try! It was very quick. It would be very effective if we got in a fight."

Sheldon stared at her for a moment, but unlike his previous transformation, he did seem to remember who she was. He wagged his tail uncertainly and walked over to a patch of soft soil on the ground. Using a single foreclaw, he carved letters into the dirt.

Keenan seems to have confused himself a little, squinting at the wall a little to figure out what on earth he's going on about.

Sheldon made a dog-like whimper and gazed up at her with his ears pressed back. He didn't know how to turn back either.

An idea came to him, and he tried to think about anything BUT scary things. He thought about a warm summer afternoon he'd spent with Tochi last year. He thought about when they got into Riverside last night and knew they were safe at last.

In a moment, human Sheldon had taken the wolf's place. He looked around wildly. 'Wow. Uhm. I didn't think I'd be able to do that.'

Sargon hurried out of the tower and half-walked, half-ran to Merchant's Square the next street over. Some of his guards stared at him as he passed, probably surprised to see their leader moving so quickly, but none of them said anything.

Arriving at the edge of the square, he lifted a hand to shield his eyes from the sunlight and watched the huge flock of creatures flying towards him. At least forty dragonshifters, all carrying their passengers on their backs. They swooped down to land around him, the wind from their wings nearly knocking the lone vampire over.

The largest dragon, who had grey scales and pale-green eyes, stepped forwards and bowed his head. As he did so, he shifted back into his human form, an elderly man with long grey hair who walked with a slight limp.

'Lord Grimm at your service, Count.'

Mortikai watches the dragons land with curiosity, fur bristling slightly from the wind created by their wings. A shiver runs down his spine as he looks at the blobs of humanoids on their backs, realising how large the army was about to become.
"Mm...I hope those two, whoever they are, have got out before they start running the entire town with ease..."
He thinks out loud, tail flicking in slight discomfort.

"To be honest, even I didn't think you could do it so quickly and easily," Tochi said, sounding impressed. "And you seemed much more aware than last time."

Sargon bowed to the other lord in return, acknowledging them as equals, though he looked slightly irritated in doing so. 'Lord Grimm. I look forward to working with you in claiming Shacklestone as a region only for our race. The Other Beings will again have power and recognition as a species, instead of being shunned and spat upon by the humans.'

Grimm smiled, showing a few missing teeth. 'That sounds wonderful. My men and women will follow your orders as well as mine.' He turned to look at the assembled force of dragons, vampires and other creatures in the square. 'We have also brought food supplies, as the army will be considerably larger now that we're here.'

Sheldon looked slightly embarrassed, but pleased. 'Nor did I. But now I know what to do, I think I could do it any time I wanted. If we... if we ever go back to Shacklestone, or those monsters come over HERE...' He trailed off, not wanting to think about that possibility.

"Yeah, he's sleep like dog," Thorn bit into her sandwich. "I don't think they sleep like bats unless they can shift into bats anyway...?"

"Maybe we should ask him?"
He shrugs, gently swinging his legs.
"I mean, we have to be sure."

(Minor character inbound.)
{Next to Lord Grimm, comes a middle aged dragon shifter in sunglasses and a white suit. His human form wasn't quite as human looking as the others, as his pointed horns were still visible. He speaks to Sargon in a thick french accent.}"Monseur (I probably butchered that. XD) Sargon! It is a pleasure to meet you! My name is Inspector Fleur. Well, former inspector, I was discharged dishonorably from le police force. Anyway, at you service."

"I hope they don't," Tochi said quietly. "But I guess we all have to be prepared." she hesitated, then added, "Even me, but I'm not sure how I would help in a war-thing."

"Yeah, let's ask," Thorn agreed. "...I just imagined a dog hanging upside down on the ceiling."

"That'd be cool though! Imagine the look on that lass's face when she wakes up and sees 'im hanging from the ceiling by his toes."
He grins slightly, not taking into account how strange this conversation is.

Sargon turned to greet the new dragonshifter, looking briefly startled but hiding it quickly. 'It's a pleasure to meet you, Inspector Fleur,' he said quietly. 'I'm sure that your abilities, like those of the rest of your force, will be greatly valued here.'

Lord Grimm then addressed his subordinate directly. 'Say, old chap, why don't you take the rest of our forces to that place we agreed to stay at?'

'Yes, the large building not far from here,' Sargon interjected, 'It was originally an orphanage, but is now deserted. There is enough space there, and in the houses around it, to contain your forces.'

'Yes, that place.' Grimm looked at Fleur. 'Take everyone over there for me. I wish to speak with the Count.'

(Draco)

'You shouldn't have to fight them,' said Sheldon, looking horrified by the very idea. 'I mean, not if you don't want to. I wouldn't want... anything bad to happen to you if you did.'

'Let's start heading back, shall we?' Sheldon suggested nervously, not liking all this talk of fighting. 'It must be almost noon... we should maybe go somewhere to eat?'

"She'll be pretty spooked," Thorn laughed, leaning back against the counter. "Not like that would be the weirdest thing in her life."

"Ah, right," Tochi nodded quickly. "We probably should go and eat, yes. Want to go to a cafe, or just... grab something at a shop?" she assumed he didn't want to eat at her grandparents' house, due to Henry.

{Gracefully bowing to the pair, Fleur acknowledges their request.}"Of course, my lords, of course. I will carry that out immediately." {Turning with a flourish, he sets off to his task.}

'Uhm... maybe a cafe?' he ventured. Putting a hand into his pocket, he jangled some loose coins. 'I have a bit of money. I'm surprised it hasn't fallen out by now.' He started walking back the way they'd come, towards the river.

The rest of the two-hundred-strong force followed Fleur, on Grimm's command, without question. They seemed to be very well trained.

Sargon and Grimm walked to the edge of the square together, where Grimm gestured for them to sit down on a park bench. 'So, I take it there was some sort of problem recently?' he said, raising an eyebrow.

Looking briefly annoyed, Sargon inclined his head in acknowledgement. 'Yes. Something managed to break into our stores and destroyed most of our food supplies last night.'

'Ha ha. I bet that was annoying,' Grimm mused.

"Alright, I can't remember any cafes, so we might have to wander a bit," said Tochi, following him as he headed back to the river. "I remember most of the people her being very nice and helpful, so we could ask for directions if we don't find anything."

Sheldon made a small hum of acknowledgement, walking quickly beside her. His hands were in his pockets and he looked thoughtful. 'Uhm, do we get back over the river the same way we got across?'

"Pretty much," Tochi replied. "Heh, sorry you have to do all this climbing and balancing and holding onto bushes. I should try to find a different way in, really."

He gave a small, uncertain chuckle, scratching the back of his head. 'It's not so bad once you know what you're doing...' he mused. As they came to the bank of the gushing river, he spotted the log they'd used to balance across. This time, he jumped up onto it with no hesitation, letting Tochi follow him.

He thinks for a moment.
"But what would be weirder? Sleeping upside down no matter the form or not sleeping at all?"

Tochi hopped on straight after him. "Watch out for crocodiles!" she said jokingly. "Of course, a crocodile is no match for you."

Cloudy Joe No-Nose

'I wouldn't be SO sure...' Sheldon muttered in response, but most of his concentration was occupied with getting across the river safely. Once he was on the other side, he jumped onto the bank and then, with a shy smile, offered Tochi a hand to help her down.

Mortikai begins to walk along the rooftiles, looking out over the streets for the wanted proxy. From his high position, he could just see the city gates, exhaling in slight gladness upon seeing that it was still open. If those people hadn't got out yet, then there was still time for them to do so. He sits, deciding to think and clear his head for a while.
The woman and the girl...something seemed oddly familiar about them. And the rings she had given him, they too seemed the most familiar. He shakes his head slightly. He knew that around nine years ago he had awoken from his latest loss of time, wearing Brink's mask and several beings dead at his feet. He knew that Brink would never let him grow attached to anything, or anyone, if it didn't serve a purpose, even if he no longer had any control over him.
Talking breaks his thoughs, coming from the street below. Standing, Mortikai peers over and smiles slightly. There, the necromancer and his decaying dragonling walked, oblivious to the fate about to reach one of them.

{With the horde of newly arrived inhumans in tow, Inspector Fleur heads right for the orphanage. However, he cannot shake the feeling that they are being watched, nor can he ignore the distinct smell of rot and faint smell of embalming fluid. The rot made sense: Most of Sargon's slaughtered patrols still lay in the street. The embalming fluid didn't. The bodies were not being tended to at all, so who was embalming? Keeping a sharp eye out, the Inspector kept his party moving.}

{As the alarm blared out, Vitis cursed loudly, stuffed what he could in his pockets and bag, and began to look for an alternate exit.}"Crowley, you lug! Don't just stand there, find a way out!"

{As Bob led the way, Eliza followed the group from behind. Seemingly, her short stature made her easy to outrun. Nevertheless, the group arrived at the town hall. Sure enough, most of Jerry's family was there to greet them. They consisted of an unusual collection of people, ranging from Grandpa Joe, looking like a mad, yet fairly approachable prospector, grey, scraggly beard, hat, and overalls to boot, to Aunt Sarah, Bob's wife, who was tall, stunningly beautiful, and never stopped glaring at Armin with an undertone of hate in her eyes. Jerry's actual parents, however, had yet to appear.}
Jerry:"...And that's my Aunt Sarah, Cousin Tod, and Uncle Christopher. That's everyone but Mom and Dad."

'Oh crap,' said Crowley again. Then his face split into an insane-looking grin - the kind of grin you could never trust. 'Nevermind. This is great! I've been hoping to kill some people since we first walked in here!'

He raised his short knife and turned to face the door. On the other side of it, raised voices could be heard. There was a noise as somebody unlocked the door and started to push it open.

(Aggron)

'That's strange. You'd think they'd already be here.' Armin was watching Aunt Sarah, noticing the hatred in her expression at the sight of him. He smiled sarcastically at her and looked away. 'Maybe we'll just have to wait for them.'

Ivy brought up the rear of the group, blinking in surprise when she saw the large group of people.

'It was a little more than 'annoying',' said the vampire, hiding his own annoyance. 'I already have half of my forces out gathering more supplies. Of course, the vampire factions will be unaffected, as they don't need... ordinary food. But it's posing a problem to the werewolves, shifters, and other factions of the army.'

'Oh, don't worry about that,' said Grimm, waving a airy hand. 'My people have brought enough rations to tide us over for a while, and we'll assist you in gathering more supplies.'

'I hope so.' Standing up, Sargon started to walk back towards the tower, Grimm following. 'Come. There are things we ought to discuss.'

{Vitis facepalmed before throwing a knife, nailing the first person coming through the door right in the throat.}"Alright, jackas.s, you want to kill people, be my guest, but when shet gets hard, you'd better use those teleportation powers to get us //both// out!"

{Jerry looks around worriedly.}"They said they'd be here. Wonder what's keeping them."
Bob:"Don't worry, they'll be here soon."
{Just then, the mayor appeared onstage. He was a short man in a black suit, with a receding hair line, and he was sweating profusely. Dabbing his forehead with a cloth, he takes to the podium, ready to give his address.}

(Aggron)

'Hey! Whoever said I could use my awesome teleportation powers to get us BOTH out?' Crowley yelled. 'Maybe it only works for me!' The man Vitis had stabbed collapsed to the floor, choking on his own blood. A group of guards came in, stepping over his body. There were four of them; a transformed werewolf, an untransformed werewolf, and two vampires wielding long swords. After a quick glance at each other, the werewolves lunged towards Crowley, while the vampires cautiously advanced upon Vitis.

'Oh look, there's the mayor!' piped up Ivy, standing on her toes to get a better look at the man and pointing him out unnecessarily. 'He looks kind of terrified.' She smirked, obviously amused.

Armin didn't react to the mayor's appearance, choosing to hang back at the rear of the group, humming ''Another Brick In The Wall'' under his breath.

{Groaning, Vitis pulls out two knives and addresses his assailants.}"Ok, friendos, we can do this the easy way, where you guys let us go without a hitch, and no one has to know, or we can do this the hard way, where everyone in this room dies. What you gon' do?"

{As the Mayor clears his throat, the whole room turns towards him.}
Mayor:"G-good afternoon, esteemed citizens of Riverside. I have called this meeting today because of the recent events that have occurred in the nearby city of ShackleStone. I'm sure that you have all heard of the terrible genocide that has occurred there, and my condolences to any and all of the refugees that are taking refuge in our beautiful town. Reports from survivors indicate that a nonhuman army has taken up residence inside the walls, and due to their violent nature and close proximity to our wonderful town, it is with everyone's best interests in mind that I am ordering a mandatory evacuation of all inhabitants of Riverside, effective immediately." {A loud, fearful murmur fell over the crowd.}
Mayor:"Calm yourselves, people, this is entirely precautionary. I'm sure some of you have questions. I will be taking them now."

(Aggron)

'The only ones gonna die here are you, thieves!' growled the untransformed werewolf, red-faced with anger as he swung a fist at Crowley's head. He dropped to the floor to avoid it, following up with a slash to the werewolf's ankles that left him barely able to walk.

The two vampires circled closer to Vitis, trying to surround him. Then one of them charged forwards, swinging his sword in a flurry of quick blows.

'Well, I suppose that's it then,' said Ivy thoughtfully. 'Everyone's going to evacuate now.'

{Smiling, Vitis readies his two knives.}"Ok, don't say I didn't give you fair warning." {As the first vampire raised his blade for his flurry of strikes, Vitis threw his knives, sticking them into the vampire's legs, cutting his approach short. With a sweeping motion of his legs, Vitis knocks the vampire on his back before promply throwing a knife into his throat. Turning to the other vampire with an evil grin, Vitis speaks.}"One down, one to go!"

{After a good while of people asking questions like where they would go and how long they would stay away, The meeting concluded. As soon as it did, Jerry's parents arrived from the crowd. They had apparently arrived halfway through the address and decided to listen to the rest before meeting up. As they approached, Jerry walked out to greet them. Jerry's father was a fairly built man with a rugged face and greying brown hair. His outfit looked very similar to Jerry's, as he was wearing a thick blue trenchcoat and a bigger hat. Jerry's mother was of average height with blond hair tied back in a ponytail. On her side was a holstered, engraved 44.}
Jerry:"Hey, Mom...Dad..."
Jerry's Mom:"Jerry!" {She runs up and hugs him.} "Oh, we were so worried..."{Her concernful tone turns to scolding.} "Why didn't you call us once you got clear!"
Jerry:"I'm sorry, Mom, It all happened kinda fast, and I had to set up the retalliation as quick as I could..."

Crowley threw a glance to see what Vitis was doing, then abruptly lunged forwards, diving under his opponent's legs and standing up on the other side to stab them in the back. The transformed werewolf growled and leapt at him, knocking him down. The two of them then started tussling violently on the floor.

The other vampire, a tall woman with short, messy black hair, hesitated and scowled at Vitis. 'What did you hope to accomplish? There are three corridors of guards between here and the exit. Even if you kill me, you won't fight your way through all of us.'

There was some sort of commotion outside the door. It sounded like another group of people were fighting to get inside.

Ivy heard Jerry's parents arriving and watched them curiously, wondering what kind of people they were. Armin wasn't paying attention, instead surveying the view of the village around them.

Together, Sargon and Lord Grimm marched up to the glass doors of Atlas Tower. Grimm tilted his head as they approached, listening carefully. 'Ah, Count? Is something going on in there? My hearing isn't what it used to be, but I thought I heard fighting.'

Sargon listened, then shook his head very slightly and continued walking. 'Why don't we go and see for ourselves?'

{Vitis shrugs at the vampire.}"Hey, this was supposed to be a solely stealth op where we just grabbed some extra lunch money. Wasn't my idea to turn it into a smash an' grab." {He says while side glancing at Crowley. Then, he turns back and smiles deviously.} "You're right, though. Kill you or not, I'm still going to have to fight my way out of here, so why don't you just drop your weapon and save your life at least?"

{At that point, Jerry's father steps in.}"You really should have let us know that you were alright, but that doesn't matter now. Let's all go back to our hotel room and you can tell us what we're dealing with." {With that, Jerry's father starts to walk away , expecting everyone to follow.}

Before the vampire could reply, there was a shout from somewhere in the corridor. 'Count Sargon and his associate are coming! Make way! Clear a space in this stupid corridor!'

Crowley was eyeing the door with a hunted look. 'I think we might be about to get into BIG trouble.'

The vampire glanced at Vitis once more, then stepped backwards and out the door. There was a large number of non-humans right outside, so Crowley and Vitis really would have to fight their way out if they wanted to reach the exit.

Ivy folded her arms and stayed where she was. Armin started to follow, then stopped and looked back at her. 'I don't let anyone boss me around!' she hissed. 'If he wants me to go after him, then he can ask. Politely.'

'Alright, you can stand here all day if you want.' Armin turned away and followed Jerry's group.

'Hey!'

{As soon as the vampire left, Vitis turned to Crowley.}"Alright, what's your plan for getting out of here? You just going to teleport?"

{Jerry turned to Ivy and motioned for her to follow. Clearly, his dad wasn't going to wait and kept on walking with the rest of the family in tow.}

Crowley shrugged. 'I can teleport out of here any time I like. But I can't take you with me. The magic doesn't work that way.' He eyed the room. 'I guess you'll have to fight your way out, heheh.'

(Aggron)

Ivy rolled her eyes, let out an exaggerated sigh, and started to follow the others.

{As soon as Vitis heard "I can't take you with me", He flips a small shelf upright under the vent and jumps up to it. Pulling himself with some strain, he crawls back in.}"Fine. Smell ya later, then, I guess."

(Aggron)

Crowley huffed. 'Yeah, have fun.' He shot a nasty grin at the doorway, just as several more guards came in to attempt to subdue them. He threw his scarf over his shoulder, gave them the middle finger, and then teleported out of the room.

He rematerialised one street away, at the edge of Merchant's Square, where Grimm's forces had been just minutes before. 'Huh. It stinks like someone's had an all-night party here,' he muttered, and wondered why so many people had been in the square at once.

Padding along the nearest wall, Mortikai stalks the young necromancer and his pet until they stop for a moment to rest. Smiling slightly, he leaps from the wall, landing in his human form. Forrest gasps, almost falling backwards over Diras before recovering from the shock.
"M-mister Mortikai...How nice to see you."
"And you too, Necromancer. Come, walk with me."
He starts off in the general direction of the tower, expecting the proxy to follow behind.
"I've been meaning to find you. You see, Count Sargon, our dark master and I have been talking in regards to that red mark on your shoulder, and we've come to a comprise."
"Oh? So, I have been forgiven for joining a more worthy cause?"
Mortikai forces himself to smile and keep his balled hands in his pockets.
"...In a sense. I just have to deliver you to Sargon and our Dark Brink, and you'll be told."
"/Your/ Dark Brink, you mean. It seems that not even the right hand gains knowledge of what goes on."
Forrest looks quite smug, gently petting Diras' head, while Mortikai grimaces and focuses his thoughts on the fact that he is one of the four unlucky children who thought it fair to abandon the one they sold themselves for.

Sargon and Grimm entered the building just seconds after Crowley teleported out, the vampire conjuring a long rapier out of nowhere while Grimm simply curled one huge hand up into a fist.

'Thieves, sir!' panted one guard when Sargon asked him what was going on. 'They found the treasury. We chased them out.'

'Chased them out?' Grimm repeated. 'So you didn't STOP them, then?'

Looking almost embarrassed by the incompetency of his guards, Sargon said, 'And what did they manage to take before you 'chased them out'?'

'Um... th-they might have grabbed a few minor valuables. Nothing that will put a dent in our treasury, my lord!'

'Fine. Go.'

The man left, almost tripping over his feet in his efforts to escape.

'Well,' remarked Grimm, looking around. 'This is more of an exciting first day here than I expected.'

(what he doesn't know will kill him-)

{Vitis exits Atlas tower via an outside vent. Not waiting to see if his pursuers had caught on to his vent crawling, Vitis takes off down the alleyway with the intention of putting as much distance between himself and the tower as possible.}

{After a short walk, the group enters a hotel. Inside, the staff is scrambling to get everyone checked out, given the evacuation order. After climbing the stairs, the group is led into one of the rooms. Given that it was made to house a couple, it’s not a comfortable fit for twenty or so people. Nevertheless, Jerry’s father ushers everyone inside. Once there, he turns to Jerry.}
Jerry’s Father: “Alright, son, let us know the situation. What are we up against?”
{Jerry starts with the attack, noting about three hundred individua. He explains Armin’s and Ivy’s part in it, which causes suspicious looks at Armin by the less friendly members of Jerry’s family. He then begins to explain Dianne’s part in all this, which leads to the following.}
Jerry: “…So, with some draugrs of small animals and objects imbued with decay magic, my operative was able to completely dispose of the enemy’s food supply. She estimates they have a day, two tops before they run out.”
Jerry’s father: “Mm. And you’re certain we can trust this necromancer?”
Aunt Sarah: “Are you even sure she did what she said? How do you know she’s not the enemy?”
Jerry: “We talked about this already, if she was working with Sargon, we’d be dead already. We can trust her, we’ve known each other for a few years now. She used to help me with cases at times.
Jerry’s mom: “Because you paid her. Clearly, her loyalty can be bought.”
Jerry: “Mom, if her loyalty was that easily changed, do you honestly think she wouldn’t have been recruited by Sargon before I showed up? Look, I’m telling all of you, she’s an ally, and this //is// the situation, ok? If we start turning on each other, we’ve already lost.

'I don't know much about this Dianne woman myself,' Armin chipped in when there was a slight pause in the conversation, 'but I don't think she's going to betray us. She didn't seem the type to be a Sargon supporter. That guy's army is made up of fanatics, idiots and weaklings who look up to him for power. She didn't seem like one of those.'

Ivy was leaning against the wall close to the door, arms folded. She clearly wasn't happy about being dragged in here, but was keeping her mouth shut - probably while she thought up something good to say.

After looking around the square, Crowley turned towards a convenient building and swiftly scaled it, climbing like a squirrel. Once he was on the roof, he glanced around, noting the time of day (it was nearing midafternoon) and then jumping down the other side of the building and beginning to follow Vitis' trail.

(The next thing for Jerry's going to be long, and I'm really busy today. I might not get it in till tomorrow. Thank you for your patience. ): )

{Jerry looked around at his family as they were seemingly quietly considering Armins words. Before any of them could speak, however, Jerry continued.}
Jerry:"Armin's right. Doing Sargon's dirty work is beneath her, and she recognizes him for the lunatic he is. However, that doesn't mean he's beneath raiding her shop. She called me earlier and said that her store was broken into. Apparently, whoever it was stole a number of dangerous artifacts from her private collection...." {Jerry stops a moment to breathe, as if preparing himself for what comes next.} "...One of which was a bottle of Liquid Death." {Upon saying this, his entire family gasps and exchanges worried looks.}
Jerry's father: "WHAT?! For real?"
Jerry: "Yes, dad. That's why I'm going back tonight to help her figure out who took it."
Jerry's mother: "Oh, no you're not! Without the original caster, there's no way to neutralize the curse! If Sargon has it, it's likely too late to stop it."
Jerry: "Mom, Dianne is the original caster. With her, we can stop this before it starts. I have to go back. I'm the best and only detective the city's got."
Jerry's father: "Not without me you're not. No major plague is going to be unleashed upon the human race on my watch!"

'WHAT?!' Ivy shrieked, at almost the same time Jerry's dad said the same thing. She stared at them in horror as they talked about the artifact, then burst out: 'Are you saying the person who's supposed to be helping us had something that can DESTROY THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE? Why does nobody tell me anything!'

Armin's look of lightheartedness had dropped off his face. 'Hey, you can't all go,' he objected. 'I think it's going to be a bit conspicuous if we walk into the city with a bunch of new people in tow. We can handle it fine.' He directed the last part towards Jerry's father.

After walking for a bit, Crowley climbed onto the roof of another building and looked around. The sun was low in the sky and the air was cool. Sargon's tower was easily visible from most parts of the city, being as tall and well-guarded as it was.

Just then, he spotted a small group of non-humans walking the street below him. It looked like one of Sargon's patrols. //Ooh, this is gonna be fun.// With a nasty grin, he drew his knife and leapt down directly in front of the group, blocking their path.

'Hi guys. What are you up to? It's not safe to walk around town in such small numbers, y'know.'

{In response to Ivy, Eliza speaks.} "Ivy, it won't differentiate. That curse is capable of wiping out all biological constructs it comes into contact with, including non humans."
{Jerry's father shoots Armin an annoyed glare.}
Jerry's father: "We're obviously not all going to go, but my boy and I can handle it just fine. We don't need some bloodsucker slowing us down.
{Jerry facepalms before speaking up.} "Dad, let him come. we could used the extra strength if we get into trouble."

(Aggron)

'Oh, that makes me feel so much better!' said Ivy sarcastically. 'It won't just kill us, it'll kill EVERYONE. Honestly, whose idea was this Liquid Death thing?'

Armin eyed Jerry's father. 'Slowing YOU down?' he repeated, looking a little amused. 'You're more likely to be slowing ME down. I'm coming. You can't stop me, little human.'

The leader of the group glared at Crowley as he called the others to a standstill. He was a dragonshifter in human form, with the appearance of a young man with short black hair and violet eyes.

'Who are you?' he barked.

Crowley grinned and brandished his knife. 'A guy who's on the lookout for his next victory,' he said dramatically, and then he lunged into the middle of the group, slashing with lightning-fast blows as he went.

{At Armin's remark, Jerry's father's hand went for the firearm on his hip. Before he could do anything drastic, Jerry grabbed his arm and held it in place.}
Jerry: "Hey, HEY! What did I just say about turning on each other?! Dad, it's fine if he comes, we could use the support!"
{Jerry's Father never lets his gaze leave Armin, even when he lets go of his gun. Jerry, with a visible drop of sweat going down his forehead, takes a moment to notice just how many of his family members had their hands on their weapons. About half were ready to draw and Aunt Sarah was already leveling a crossbow at Armin. Eliza, on the other hand, had darted away from Ivy and was hanging off of Sarah, trying to get her to put her weapon down. Once Jerry's father had assumed a more passive position, everyone else did as well.}
Jerry's father: "Fine. He can come along. But listen here, creature, the next time you talk to me that way, I'm canceling your ticket." {With that, he turns and walks out the door to prepare.}

Armin, who had tensed when Jerry's father drew the firearm but otherwise stayed unresponsive, slowly leaned back against the wall. He was staring at the door through which the other man had just left, and there wasn't a hint of amusement in his expression now.

'Well, that was interesting,' muttered Ivy. She looked probably the least affected by the proceedings, with the story about the Liquid Death still on her mind. 'I'd watch out for that guy if I were you.'

(Going to leave Crowley's next bit until Saturday.)

(Alrighty.) {Wiping his forehead, Jerry approaches Armin.}"Hey. let's take a walk."

(Aggron)

Still staring towards the doorway, Armin started when Jerry spoke up. 'Oh. Alright.' Pushing himself off the wall, he walked briskly out of the room, expecting Jerry to follow.

Ivy remained where she was, throwing worried glances at other members of the family as if expecting someone to pull out a weapon again.

{Jerry followed Armin briskly. After exiting the hotel, Jerry finally spoke.}"I have to apologize on their behalf. They've spent so much time hunting the worst of the worst that they've forgotten that normal non humans exist. Even with that, their reaction was completely uncalled for. So, I'm sorry that happened."

(Aggron)

Armin didn't answer immediately, seeming lost in thought. Then he said, 'Y'know, people like your dad are the reason Sargon did what he did. And the reason so many of our kind look up to him. Even if we manage to put a stake through his heart, all the problems are still going to be there - and humans are going to be even more prejudiced towards us, after he killed so many of them.' He glanced at Jerry. 'Still, I know not all of you are like that. Thanks for the apology.'

{Jerry nods.}"Yeah, I know. I got the feeling Sargon might have lost something or someone important to humanity, and he's using that as justification for this atrocity. I wonder if he realizes that this will bring no peace for either side, or if he's too blinded by his hatred."

Armin shrugged slightly. 'I don't know a lot about his past. Even with the people who work for him, he's pretty secretive. But something tells me he's not doing this as some sort of personal vendetta. He actually seems to care about protecting our kind from the humans - if someone like him could really care about anything.'

{Jerry narrows his eyes in thought.} "I don't buy the whole 'protecting his race' thing. If that were the case, he would have picked diplomacy over genocide, in order to spare his followers from the terror and desolation of war. No, he's got something else planned. He must."

'You don't know for sure,' said Armin. 'Half his followers would've preferred war over peace, anyway. They're angry at how the humans have treated them for the last few decades.' He glanced over his shoulder at the hotel behind them. 'While we're on the subject - can you be sure your dad isn't going to shoot me as soon as he gets the chance? Because if he does, I'll kill him.' He didn't sound like he was joking.
