-Vri’ Vol. 3: Paint Dogs-

Near the ocean in Vriodel atop the first cliff lies a nature research facility called Palicie. (Pronunciation isn’t important) When the facility was first formed, the main workers there were researchers and artists. No one knows exactly how humans really got there. Anyways. Those who were more interested in the arts wondered if they could create a creature that could help them, something agile and intelligent. While some considered felines, those canine-inclined argued that cats wouldn’t want to do the work and would instead just try to do their own things and probably spill paint all over everywhere (though according to amazon many expensive paintings were just made by someone’s pet who probably tried to eat the paint on their feet afterwards).

So it was decided that they would make canines that could do a bit of painting for them. Thus, the species was created. They started off simple (such as those like one called Levi) and then decided to have some fun with them. They couldn’t get quite the small size they wanted but the creatures seemed carefree and happy, so they let them be and kept going, trial after trial with a few errors here and there. Most had an idea in mind while making them, like certain foods or holidays. Some even dared to tamper with the elements and made some rather powerful creatures.

The Painters (as they were so creatively named) don’t remember anything from their time in Palicie. All but one were set free after the First Break, somehow landing themselves in different realms and dimensions to find new homes. The only one left was the least successful, one larger than the others known as Carsen (what an odd name). All he had was the tail, nothing else. The elemental ones were also quite large, around with Carsen at the height of a German Shepherd. They can control whether their paws/ears/tail drip paint, though sometimes it does not work if they cannot focus (this especially goes with the elemental ones). It’s not quite clear how it works, but their paint is quite harmless. Not exactly edible, but can be permanent or last a short amount of time, mainly if there’s weather involved. It is notable that they cannot breed either, but they have rather good lifespans (much more than a normal dog, especially those based after elements).

It isn’t really known just why they are what they are, why something like their ears would be infused with paint, but such is how they were made. Some have powers and others don’t. Perhaps I’ll draw them later on the following pages. Just won’t guarantee they’ll be any good. Zix here gets mad if I don’t properly finish a volume, but he’s sleeping right now so maybe he won’t notice the amount of blank pages here.

Man, I just love Painters. The idea is just super cool, and I love the lore that artists created them (I mean, technically an artist IS creating them! Yknow, that one by the name of Ems?)
