I haven't even played NieR:Automata yet. I just love the characters and OST so much!! XD Anyways, I don't usually like posting WIPs but I worked on this for 4 hours lol. Should I have a nature background or city ruins (like in the game)?

This looks so pretty! Can't wait to see the final piece! As for the background, I don't know. Both would work. So whatever you feel more comfortable of doing!
