The village wasn't busy, and the few people walking around seemed nervous - hardly surprising considering what had happened to the city that was their neighbour.

Ivy hurried through the shopping centre, excitement putting a spring in her step. 'Come on, vampire!' she hissed, glancing over her shoulder as Armin followed her at a more leisurely pace. 'I want to get some shopping done before Jerry is done with whatever he said he was doing.'

"I mean...I could, just-"
Keenan acts out scooping the peanut butter out of an invisible jar, then mimics wiping it on his bread. This just leads to him into a small fit of chuckles.
"Nah, there's probably a draw or somethin'..."

"I can try to get it out of him as to who it is. I am the one he'd most likely talk to about these things, and if whoever this is causing these problems becomes one of his proxies, then he'll tell me who. He always does."
He muses, following closely behind the vampire.

'Then please ask him as soon as possible,' replied Sargon. 'While we have these problems under control, we cannot risk our stores being destroyed or patrols killed again.' He glanced over his shoulder, seeming almost surprised to find Morty following him. 'Thank you. You may go.'

While they were talking, Ana came hurrying towards them from the opposite direction, looking breathless and clearly wanting to say something.

With an air of acknowledgement, the tendrils reach for and envelop his hand, the darkness burning into his skin as the mark is permanently engraved onto the Illusionist's hand.

The black mass moves away, forming back into the spritual feline with an ever twisting grin.

Ivy paused to gaze into a shop window, which had a sign saying something about discounts. With a small sigh, Armin caught up with her. 'Ivy, you can't just shout 'vampire!' in the middle of Riverside. Someone will hear you and then people will be coming after us with stakes.'

'Oh, don't be so pessimistic,' said Ivy dismissively. Suddenly, she grabbed his arm. 'Hey, look! They're doing a 50 percent off sale in there!' She hurried into the clothing store, dragging the vampire along behind her.

Thorn laughed in a way that sounded more like a cat yowling. "Alright, let's find some knives." she started opening various drawers and cupboards.

He nods, falling back and turning around. Noticing Ana, he tilts his hat towards her with a quick "Morning", then continues down the hall. Going through the list in his head, he selects a few of the marked traitors he knew and decides to look for them, wanting to evaluate the redness of the marks against each other so the last of the four traitors would truly deserve it.

Sargon glanced back at Morty, then turned to greet his assistant. 'Anastasia. Have you found any more of the people we are looking for?'

'My Lord,' the witch said, sketching a hasty bow and holding her hat on with one hand so it wouldn't fall off. 'I haven't managed to catch them yet, but I think I saw two of them. The twins. I saw them in one of the city patrols with a team of dragonshifters and werewolves. Would you like me to get them?'

Sargon nodded quickly. 'Yes. Find them and bring them here.'

'Yes, sir.' However, Ana didn't leave immediately. She hesitated, staring at him. 'Sir... I just want you to know that I respect you more than anyone in the world. You do such great things to help protect our race, and I know you'll never give up!'

'I will not,' said the Count quietly. 'I will continue our work here until I am dead or our race is safe from the humans.'

Ana nodded and hurried away, blushing slightly.

He opens a few himself, then looks a little puzzled.
"I've found forks and spoons, but no knives...wait, here we go! A butter knife with...half a handle."
He frowns at it, now looking quite puzzled, then shrugs.
"Maybe them kids who stayed here took them all to stab up any of them non-humans killing humans or whatever. I mean, they probably cleared out when everything got quiet, right?"

"I suppose they did," Thorn agreed, suddenly deciding to wash behind her ears. "Wonder if there's any still hiding around though? Kids, I mean."

Shifting into her dragon form as soon as she left the building, Ana quickly flew across the city until she spotted a patrol of non-humans marching through the streets below, close to the now-ruined hospital. Swooping down, she yelled at the leader of the patrol to stop moving. 'I'm looking for a pair of twins with psychic powers! If you're there, come forwards!'

Sheldon nodded slowly. 'I wouldn't mind that,' he said. 'It sounds like it would be more useful than turning into a giant ugly dog thing.' He was quiet for a moment. 'Should we go outside now?'

(It's quiet in here.)

"I don't think it's that ugly," Tochi said. "And yes, we can." she put her empty cornflake bowl on the window ledge.

'Y-yes, let's go!' agreed Sheldon, trying to sound more confident than he felt. He headed for the door, then hesitated. 'We're going to find somewhere safe to do it, right?

Tochi slid off the bed. "I think I found a 'secret base' when I last came here. How secret it actually was, I don't remember, but I'll try to find it again."

As soon as she'd finished speaking, Caroline appeared in the doorway with some tea for them.

Sheldon started to say something, but was interrupted by Caroline's arrival. 'Oh! Um... thank you,' he said, slightly startled as he accepted a cup of tea from her. He wondered where Henry was, and hoped they wouldn't run into him on the way out.

"Eh, maybe. If this place has a basement, there might be some in there, scared outta their minds!"
He says as he scoops the peanut butter from the jar and spreads it onto his bread, though with a little difficult due to how thick it was.

The twins, in sync, jump and stagger back, looking up at the witch. The one with the closed eye mask, the brother, raises his hand up, a purple aura around it. The sister swiftly pushes his arm down, seemingly glaring at him. She then takes his hand and leads him forwards, presenting them clearly.

A few minutes after they entered the clothes store, Ivy and Armin came back out. Ivy was clutching a large shopping bag filled with what looked like at least three different garments, including a green woollen coat for cold weather. 'Here,' she said as they got back on the street, thrusting it at Armin.

'Oh, sure,' he grumbled lightheartedly, 'give all the bags to the guy with a damaged leg and half his fingers missing.' He took the bag, however, and followed Ivy as she skipped across the village in search of another shop.

'We have to find the sweetshop next !' she yelled. 'I need to buy chocolate!'

Grinning at the sight of the twins, Ana waited until they stepped forwards before speaking up. 'Well, then. I've been on the hunt for you two... Lord Sargon wishes to see you both. Also, what're your names? Not that I care, but it would be convenient to have something to call you.'

(Draco)

'Oh, uhmm...' Sheldon looked pleadingly at Tochi for help, since as he didn't actually know where they were meant to be going.

A female voice speaks into Ana's mind.
"My name is Lila, and this is my brother Nate."
"You're the Count's right hand, right?"
The boy speaks up, speaking telepathically too.

Thinking for a moment, Keenan presses both sides of his sandwich together.
"Food first. Then we can spook the living daylights outta them!"

Sheldon stood there staring at the place Caroline had last been, his mouth gaping open. He looked like he wasn't sure how to respond. '...Uhm... so we're going to the well? W-where is the well?' he said eventually.

Ana's ear twitched under her hat, and she shook her head slightly, obviously not comfortable with anyone besides Sargon talking to her telepathically. 'Yes, I am!' she replied brightly. 'Maybe you should get onto my back. I can fly us there much faster than you two can walk with your little human legs.'

Reaching the door to the sweetshop, Ivy darted inside, shouting over her shoulder: 'You stay out there and guard the bag with your life!'

Armin leaned against the wall and folded his arms, gazing around. //Oh, that's likely,// he thought. //If we get ambushed by Sargon's monsters, I'm definitely going to be thinking about your shopping.//

'OK,' said Sheldon, mystified. All this talk of secret bases and hidden routes was getting him interested. 'Lead the way.'

They both nod, carefully climbing onto her back. The two seem to fire messages between each other as they do so, quietening down once they're safely on her back.

The lion shifter simply nods, dragging his plate out of the way as he bites into his sandwich.

Ana ordered the patrol to keep working, then spread her wings and leapt up into the air. The return flight to Atlas Tower took only a couple of minutes. Landing in front of the glass doors, she crouched down to let the twins off her back. She seemed extremely happy. Lila and Nate wouldn't know why, but it was because she'd now found three of Brink's supposed traitors - only one more to go before she completed her task.

"Will do," Tochi nodded and smiled. She left the room holding her tea and started to make her way down the stairs. "Gonna want to avoid Grandpa, aren't you?"

'W-well, it's not that I DISLIKE him or anything...' said Sheldon nervously as he followed her, clutching his own teacup. 'He's just very... different?'

"He's odd," Tochi agreed. "But he can be funny. And he's a good person, he's just a bit difficult to understand." she shrugged. "Seems to live in his own little world."

She reached the bottom of the stairs and carried on walking through the short hallway.

Sheldon made a small noise of acknowledgement, but said nothing. He glanced around uneasily as they traversed the house, keeping an eye out for Henry or any other strange things they might run into. One never knew in a place like this.

They reached the front door without bumping into anything unusual. Both Caroline and Henry seemed to have disappeared off somewhere.

Tochi opened the door and stepped outside. "Nice day," she commented. A small tortoiseshell cat jumped down from the roof of the house and wound itself around Sheldon's legs, then went to sit by the driveway.

Sheldon paused to brush cat hair off his trousers and glanced at the cat as it wandered away, wondering if it belonged to Tochi's grandparents. Then he hurried after her. 'I didn't see a river anywhere as we were coming in yesterday,' he commented. 'It must be quite far away.'

"It's not TOO far," Tochi told him, walking at a quick pace. "It's just that you tend not to notice it unless you're actually looking for it."

'Mm,' said Sheldon, not sounding entirely convinced. 'So... does that mean nobody knows about it besides you?' He fell into step next to her, glancing curiously around the village.

(Sorry I'm two days late.)
{Vitis shrugs nonchalantly at the dragon's inquiry.}"I'm new here. The old man just sprung me out of prison two nights ago."

(Mind as well do some of this too.)
{Dianne arrives back at her home, after a good while of painful trekking. She arrives, however, not to the secure, well guarded home she left the previous night; rather, she finds the place ransacked, the door cut off its hinges, and the ashes of her draugrs covering the floor. She now understands why she had more souls with her in the morning than she was anticipating: Someone had broken into her home and decimated her guards. At the sight of her wrecked home, it takes Dianne's full willpower not to grab the nearest person to her and rip that poor individual in half out of sheer rage. Instead, she just turns vehemently white and clenches her fists so hard that her nails cause her palms to bleed. Pythia can tell just how angry Dianne is and makes sure not to get too close.}
Pythia:"I'm so sorry. If there's anything I can do to help..."
{Dianne puts up a hand, signaling her that it's too soon to bring it up. She speaks, clearly so upset that she's having trouble thinking coherently.}
Dianne:"Magnus!"
Magnus:"Yes, M'am?"
Dianne."Give me...a list of everything missing. //Now!//"

{The Illusionist's gaze does not change.}"A poor substitute for the family I had before, but if it allows me to take the vengeance I seek, I will happily be a part of it." {Re-gloving his hand, the Illusionist stands.}"Tell me, have I earned what i seek?"

Crowley's gaze went blank for a few seconds as he tried to think of an excuse for himself. 'Uh, yeah, me too,' he said.

'That makes sense,' said the shifter. 'Apparently he recruited loads of people from there.' He glanced around the hallway. 'Hey, I've got work to do, so I won't stay to chat. See you two around.' Giving them a nod of farewell, he turned and hurried away.

'So, what now?' whispered Crowley. 'We explore? I wanna loot this place. I bet they have cool valuables.'

{Vitis nods to the shifter before turning to Crowley with an evil grin.}"Yes, let's have a look around." {He says in a whisper.} "And remember, it ain't stealin' if you take it fast!"

(Aggron)

Crowley smirked and fell into step behind Vitis, adjusting his over-long scarf around his neck. 'How about that one?' he muttered, nodding in the direction of a door on the right side of the corridor that wasn't guarded. 'There's nobody in there. Maybe it's a storage room or somethin'.'

Bored with waiting outside the shop after a few minutes, Armin gathered up Ivy's bag and wandered off to go explore on his own. A flash of blonde hair caught his attention, and he looked around to see a girl walking through the village, a skinny redheaded boy at her heels. //She looks weirdly familiar,// he thought. //Now where have I seen her before...?//

"As far as I'm aware," Tochi replied, not noticing Armin. "I mean, SOMEONE could have found it before me, but it's very well hidden."

{Without speaking, Vitis casually strolls up to the door and peeks inside.}

{From behind Armin, a hand touches his shoulder. It's Jerry.}"Hey, Armin, I'm done. I've filled in the mayor, he's going to have a town meeting in an hour. That's when he'll announce the evacuation."

(Draco)

'SOMEBODY must have found it,' Sheldon remarked. 'I can't possibly be THAT well-hidden.' He spotted Armin watching them from beside the shops, but since he didn't know him, he didn't say anything. He just hurried on.

(Aggron)

Crowley pushed him out of the way so he could get into the room first. 'Hey, looks like it IS a storage room,' he commented. The place was dark, with several shelves littered with miscellaneous objects. None of it looked valuable or important. He picked up a broken plant pot to examine it. 'This place is just filled with crap. Let's go somewhere else.'

(Aggron)

Armin took his attention off Tochi and Sheldon and turned around. 'That was fast,' he said. 'Unfortunately, you're going to have to wait until Ivy comes back from... wherever she is now.' He eyed the rows of buildings blankly, realising that he didn't remember where he'd seen her last.

{Vitis just leaves the room without a word, looking for a more promising area to loot.}

{Jerry nods his head in agreement.}"Yeah, well, once I told them my name, they knew I was from Shacklestone and let me right in. You lost Ivy again? Jeeze, it's like you want her to get ambushed and killed."

(Aggron)

Crowley stuffed his hands into his pockets and followed, letting Vitis lead the way this time.

(Aggron)

'Hey, I'm not her babysitter,' said Armin. 'She's the one who keeps wandering off without telling anyone.' He walked back to one of the shops he knew Ivy had visited, but there was no sign of her there now.

Just then, a door swung open across the other side of the street and Ivy emerged, not carrying anything and looking disgruntled. 'The shopping around here sucks,' she said as she approached them. 'So, did everything go to plan?' she added, looking up at Jerry.

{Vitis wanders about, looking for anything of interest. He whispers to Crowley as he goes.}Think about it, Crowley, d'ya think they'll leave anything of value just lying about unguarded? We need to find what they don't want us to find, go where they don't want us to go, like......that door, right over there." {Vitis directs Crowley's attention to a door guarded by a pair of burly werewolves.}"I bet there's some juicy loot in there, don'tcha think?"

{Jerry rubs his face and sighs in exasperation at Armin's words.}"You had,// one job//, Armin, hold her bags and stay close. How could you screw-"{He stops when Ivy appears.}"Oh, there you are. Yes, everything went fine. I take it the shopping didn't go well."

(Aggron)

Crowley stared at the guarded door. 'How do we get past those idiots, though?' he whispered back. 'Come on, they're not gonna just step aside and let us through. Do we kill them or make a distraction?'

(Aggron)

'Not particularly,' said Ivy. She skipped forward and grabbed her bag from Armin's hand. 'But that's OK. What do we have to do now? Are we staying here until they evacuate? Or are we going home already? I like this place.'

{Vitis takes a moment to think.}"Can't kill 'em. Not yet, at least. If we're discovered before we get the loot, we're screwed. There's too many people here for a smash n' grab op. But maybe...." {Vitis looks up at the ceiling. noticing the industrial sized ventilation system through a missing panel, Vitis grins.}"C'mon Crowley, let's have a look around upstairs."

{Jerry taps his chin in thought.}"We can't go home yet. My parents are going to arrive here today,. We need to meet up with them and see about getting backup."
???:"How do you know the backup hasn't already arrived?"
{Jerry whips around and sees a massive man with a military style buzz cut and rippling muscles bulging from his t-shirt.}
Jerry:"U-Uncle Bob?"
Bob:"Jerry! It's so good to see you again!"
{The man rushes forward and picks Jerry up off the ground in a massive bear hug. Jerry protests muffledly.}
Jerry:"Uncle! I'm not five anymore! Put me down!"
{After the man releases him, Jerry dusts himself and turn to Ivy and Armin.}
Jerry:"Guys, this is my father's brother, my uncle, Bob Garvey. Bob, this is Ivy, and this is Armin. We've been working together since the attack two nights ago."

(Aggron)

'You got it,' said Crowley. 'Lead the way. I promise I'll help you if we get attacked by Sargon's loons. Maybe.' He rested a hand on the hilt of his knife sheathed into his belt. Normally he didn't like letting others make decisions for him, but Vitis seemed to know what he was doing.

(Aggron)

Ivy turned away to hide her laughter at the reunion scene. Armin, however, stepped forwards smoothly and held out a hand to shake. 'Hello, Bob.' He'd kept his sunglasses on, hiding that he was a vampire. 'Pleased to make your acquaintance.'

"Well, you'll have to help me." {Vitis said chuckling.} "'Cause if we get discovered, they'll attack you too. Over here." {Vitis stops at a grating on the second level. After first making sure no one was watching, he kneels down and quietly pulls it out and puts it aside. Crawling in, he whispers to Crowley.}"Ok, now, do as I do."
