Burst is an skill that let the user ignite their own energy out of their bodies. The energy can change take different properties depending on the use, like elemental atributes or healing properties. One can manifest their own energy but to burst energy is dangerous and unnatural unless your body is willing to take the stress of it.
Talismans and catalysts can be used to further enhance/control this skill but they'll break after being used.
Put it this way, if you were playing a game where you can access to an special skill after you filled a gauge, using that skill will be a Burst. Seth has a fragmented gauge allowing him to use many smaller Bursts.
