Kris (humanoid host) and Schal (Scarf) are a pair of creatures known as symbiotes.
Symbiotes exist in pairs, sometimes even acting as one being, from birth. They come in all shapes and sizes, but always consist of a humanoid “host” and a magic-infused creature connected to them in some way. A symbiote exists in different levels of cooperation depending on the pair. Kris and Schal are an example of a pair with good chemistry, resulting in great sync between the two.
Kris uses their partner, Schal, as another set of limbs that acts either on it’s own or according to Kris’ wishes. In return, Kris acts as the communication of the two, as well as Schal’s source of food and shelter.
Schal CAN communicate, but onky through growls and catlike noises. Kris does their best to translate but isn’t the best at understanding Scahl’s “speech”. Both of them do better with nonverbal communication.
Kris, as a Junker, prefers to use their charisma to gather information on jobs and sources of income instead of fighting directly. Schal’s offensive abilities, while strong, are close ranged and best used as self defense.
They have a huge sweet tooth and one of their favorite pastimes is cooking. (the extra set of limbs helps) It’s an expensive hobby, so they can’t do it often, but they love making food for the other Junkers whenever possible.
Their answer to everything is befriend it.
Kris and Schal individually are still referred to as they/them!

Most symbiotes can’t exist without both partners alive/active. However, in the case that the host dies and the symbiote lives, it can find another host. Thus, people can ‘become’ symbiotes at the risk of their own health due to the abrupt transition.
Symbiote partners that have bad chemistry with their hosts are essentially parasites that cannot safely be removed. This is rare, but entirely possible. It’s a similar case with symbiotes that have to find a second host, since it’s pure luck who they find first and connect with.
Hosts and their natural symbiote partners usually begin existing around the same time, but aren’t necessarily connected from birth. Most pairs are brought together after a certain amount of time has passed.
Symbiote partners can’t survive long without a host, usually due to inability to move, communicate, or get resources.
Symbiote partners aren’t always objects or articles of clothing, and can take monsterous or animal forms as well. Maybe. Depends on if I get the ok.
