smaller details. So in her cat form, she just has stripes mostly along her spine, while in her tiger form, they're pretty much everywhere except her belly.
The stripes are the only thing that changes between the form, as everything else stays proportional.

Other important details include her blue bones and insides and grey skin, which is why her wings are the colors that they are. This carries other to other forms as well. For instance, the few times she has been turned into a human, she has grey skin. Her skin also contains the blue stripes that you see on her fur.

Her ears and her antennae are actually connected. The antennae go from the base of her ear to the tip and keep going until they end in the circles at the top.
The stipes in the middle of her face are 3 crescent moons, each larger than the last. When first drawing them, I thought it looked quite a bit like the wifi signal. This then gave way to the idea that Maru has excellent hearing. She can pick up sounds over long distance by "tuning" her antennae. Kind of like short range radio signals. Although, depending on what universe she is in, she can only recieve the signals and not send them.

Besides flying and extra hearing, she has normal cat abilities such as retractable claws, night vision, stronger sense of smell than a human.

And depending on what universe she is in, she can talk. This can vary between mind speech, outloud speech, only in meows but one person can understand her, again, it varies by the universe.

Generally, her form and abilities depend on the universe, but her color scheme and personality is a constant.
Her color scheme is black/dark grey, sky blue, blue, and grey/silver.

Her personality was made to be helpful to Tigris and kind of inspired by Jake the dog - even though she is younger than Tigris, du to the fact cats mature faster than humans, she is more mature than Tigris. She is motherly, but not over bearing. She does like adventures and knowing what's going on around her (gossip and spying in other words). But she is still a cat and will react accordingly to certain stimuli. However, she tries to act as if she is above her instincts and tries to present herself as a "proper lady". She is also protective of her friends and encourages them to be the best they can be.

Her backstory is the same regardless what universe she is in:

Abandoned at a young age, met friend, stayed with them. "Friend" and how she was abandoned varies by universe. But she doesn't remember her family, anything about her species, or if she's a hybrid/mutant and has no species to which she belongs.

Her design came from #witchtigris needing a familiar for Segi. I wanted to make a black cat, but it wasnt very unique or inventive. I looked at various petpets on Neopets and found mauket (a black cat with bird wings) and batterfly (a bat with antennae and 2 sets of bat wings). I liked both, and so I combined them. I chose I color scheme I liked and added the changing size to give reason for the stripes. Her name comes from just mixing a few letters around "mau" from the mauket and "r" from the batterfly.

And I just used old refs to draw Maru's forms.
