It was a few days after the twins had encountered Dianne and Jerry, and they were finally returning to normal - mostly. Hawk's bruises were quickly fading, although Hunter was still hobbling around on one leg. Both were highly cautious of their surroundings after what had happened. Hawk watched attentively for motion from atop a brick building, which they had determined was their camp. Hunter was at the base of it, leaning against the wall with a metal crutch under one arm. "Today feels promising," Hawk murmured from where he perched, though it was more for his own comfort than an observation.
"Promising for what?" {A voice came up from the silence. There, standing on the neighboring roof, on the chimney, was the Ragged One. It's voice sounded a bit more upbeat than last time.}
Hawk's heart dropped when he recognized the familiar voice. Terrified yet also agitated, he slowly turned to face the Ragged One. "What are you doing here?" he murmured.
Hunter jolted upright and backed away from the wall in an attempt to see what was going on up there. "Hawk!" he shouted. //Those thugs had better not touch him...!//
"I've come to see how you two are recovering. And to check up on the offer we made you last time." {Jumping in one smooth motion, the Ragged One lands on their roof.} "So, how are you, and what do you think?"
Hawk tightened his hands into fists as an instinct of self-defense. "...We've been fine. All's going as it should," he said slowly. Even though Jerry had made an agreement with them, he couldn't help but be cautious around the one who contributed to their ragged condition.
"Don't you dare go near him!" Hunter shouted from below as he hobbled toward the building's door, intending to climb the stairway to the rooftop to defend his brother.
(Wait a minute, what was the importance of the watch medallion the Ragged One took last time?) {Chuckling to itself, the Ragged One leans over the edge to watch Hunter make the tedious climb.}"Is he going to be able to even make it up here? Look, I know we met on pretty poor terms, but let's be real here; Civilization won't be coming back any time soon if we don't start helping each other, right? And those cans we gave you won't last forever, so..."
(For this plot, it's a keepsake of their deceased mother who told them there was hope of a restored land before she died.)
Hawk glanced worriedly down at his brother, knowing he wouldn't be able to make it up the first flight of stairs yet would kill himself trying. The boy sighed and looked back at the skeleton. "I know. I can't help but be cautious, though. Have you come to make another trade?" he guessed.
(Oooooooh that's sad. Are they going to ask for it back? Or are they going to go on a stealth mission to try to steal it back?)
{A box of Mars Bars to you kid, that's correct. But I'm not literally going to give you a box of candy bars. Dianne'd murder me if I did. Anyway, I'm obligated to ask first, are you two willing to make us munitions?"
(I actually totally forgot about it, but they'll probably demand it back xD)
Hawk gave a bemused frown at the skeleton's jokes, then considered a reply to the question. "We can do that, if we're provided the materials for them. And... we may need one bullet to study, since I've never made one before."
{The Ragged One nods.}"We can provide that. Now that you've said yes, I'll go make the necessary preparations in a minute. But, before I go..."{The Ragged one pulls out a pair of scavenged headphones with the cord severed.}"Could you please fix this? I'll give you something special if you do."
Hawk eyed the pair of headphones confusedly. "Why... do you want this fixed? There's--" He was cut off by the sudden approach of feet clambering up stairs. Hunter burst out the rooftop's stairwell door, gasping for breath. He had figured out that coating his wounded leg in metal lessened the pain of putting weight on it or at least constricted it to the point where he couldn't feel it, allowing the ridiculous teen to sprint up the stairs. Still, as he approached the two, he limped on his bad leg; the maneuver had obviously taken a toll on him. "Leave us alone!" he snapped at the Ragged One, not yet knowing the skeleton's reason for appearing.
{Largely ignoring Hunter, the Ragged One produces the part of the cord with the headphone input.}"Please, it's for a dear friend of mine. No one back home has any idea of how to fix these. You're really my only hope here. Just use your metal powers to reconnect the wire."
"...Alright," Hawk agreed. Hunter snapped at him to stop as he carefully approached and took the headphones. He examined the item a moment to make sure the wire was the problem. Then he allowed the wires to shift, mend together and restore to their original condition. He held the headset out for the Ragged One to take back.
Hunter watched the transition with a scowl, still working to recover his breath as he thought of something to say.
{The Ragged One nodded and gladly took back the headphones.}"Thank you. These are going to make a certain someone very happy. For your trouble."{The Ragged one hands Hawk an apple. A fresh, crisp, sweet apple, as if it was just picked from a tree.}"Oh, look at the time. I need to get back. and get the materials you'll need for the job."
Hawk gave a small nod, but he was distracted with a question that weighed heavier and heavier with everything the skeleton displayed. "Where are getting these? it doesn't make sense. I--"
Interrupted yet again, Hunter stepped forward as the Ragged One made a move to leave. "Hey! The watch! Give it back," he demanded. The mention of time must have brought the pendant back to his memory.
{The Ragged One put a finger to its chin before speaking.}"Ah, yes, I remember now. Perhaps we can work it into your payment. Remind me, this watch is important why?"
Both hesitated, then Hawk responded. "It's... something important to us. From our past. It's none of your business," he said hesitantly, not intending to be rude but unwilling to be honest.
{The Ragged One looks at Hunter.}"When you finish your part of the deal of course. Make us our munitions, and you'll get your watch back. Plus some food. That sound fair."
Hunter muttered a curse as the skeleton left. The metal around his bad leg morphed back into a crutch, which he grasped tightly and leaned against. The considerably new bandages around his wound were stained darkly again.
"Why did you do that to yourself?" Hawk grumbled, partially out of concern and partially out of exasperation.
"Thought he was gonna hurt you," he replied shortly.
"He probably won't without good reason. "Come on - let's see if you can make it back downstairs."
{After a short while, the familiar sound of hooves is heard as the draugr cart pulls in front of their building, driven by Jerry. and a couple draugrs.}"Howdy neighbors! Glad we could come to an agreement!"
Hawk was helping Hunter out the building when the party arrived. Hawk gave a grim smile and approached slowly, leaving his brother to stand by himself.
He stopped a safe distance from them. "You have the materials?"
Hawk stood by the doorway where he could watch the draugrs haul the materials in. "Yes... I'm Hawk, and my brother is Hunter." He didn't feel the need to mention they were twins, since they shared enough similar physical traits to pass as twins - although, personality-wise, they were polar opposites.
"And you're Jerry?" Hunter assumed, recalling the name from the previous day.
"Yup. Jeremiah Garvey, nice to meet you, Hawk and Hunter. Now that we've got the formalities out of the way, let me show y'all what you'll be doing." {Jerry proceeds to walk into the building.}
(I should probably head off now. I doubt we'll be able to continue any time in the next week, so you're welcome to give your reply now if you want to get it out. Either way, thanks for the fun roleplay! I'll see you later!)
{Jerry walked in and produced several ammo types. There was a 38. round, a 50 caliber round, a 22., and a shotgun shell.}"Here, these are what I need you to recreate."

29 Dec, 2017, 5:13 am
"The--" He motioned with one hand in an attempt to illustrate the watch's round shape. "The chained pendant you stole from me that day!"
Hawk eyes widened when he remembered the watch as well. "Is there anything we can do to have that back?" he asked, turning to the skeleton.

29 Dec, 2017, 6:17 am
