Asher and Sirius both stood outside in the snow, feeling relatively unprepared for what was to come. Asher knelt down, holding both of his arms out for Sirius. “If you feel uncomfortable whatsoever, you can start flying again. Just make sure that you’ll be able to keep up.” Asher said, seriously.
Asher gently picked Sirius up, and once he was sure of his grip on his friend, he flew into the air as fast as he possibly could, heading towards the airport they needed to be at.
Asher looked extremely focused for a few minutes before looking down at Sirius. “Are you alright, Sirius? I do hope you aren’t bored.” He smiled a little.
“We only have twenty more minutes before we arrive at the airport, ” Asher said, “If you appear to be too uncomfortable, they probably won’t let us take the flight, even with our proof.” He gently kissed Sirius on the head, trying to relax him.
“We have the letter with the instructions of how to get there. Hidden in the paper design had a symbol on it, proving that it’s authentic.” Asher said, feeling confident that they’ll make it to the Sky Castle on time.
Asher felt similarly to Sirius, but also believed that they would be fine. He felt unusually calm, probably because he was preparing himself for the worst. For the rest of the flight, he was silently thinking about how glad he was that Sirius was with him. Finally, they landed at a small, relatively empty airport in the middle of a dense forest. “It’s more hidden than I initially thought,” Said Asher as he placed Sirius down.
Noticing how close Sirius started walking, Asher gently grabbed his friend’s hand and locked fingers with him. He smiled as they walked through sketchier parts of the airport, skipping through security. “Our gate is C17. I’m sure that the airplane is awaiting us.” He chuckled at little, “I almost feel like royalty.”
As they got to their gate, the only person there beckoned for them to sit down. “Your plane will be ready shortly. I’m assuming you both are Sebastian and Sirius.” The man said.
“Yes, we are.” Asher replied, looking somewhat insulted by the name he had called him.
“I’m a little nervous. After this flight, we have to ride gryphons up to the sky castle, due to a spell surrounding the area, which will stop our powers from functioning.” He said quietly as he leaned onto Sirius’s shoulder.
“I’m sure our powers will work inside the barrier.” He said, disregarding Sirius’s comment about their powers’ uselessness. He gently played with a strip of Sirius’s long hair by braiding it, unbraiding it, then braiding it again.
A few more minutes passed before the door opened. The man returned to them and smiled. “Your flight is ready. You will be flying for five hours and twenty minutes. I wish you two well.”
Asher glared at the man, who showed nervousness in his kind words. “Let’s go, Sirius.” He said as he stood up and headed to the door.
Asher examined the plane, then turned around to face the flight attendant, who looked similar to a puppet in the sense that she was entirely robotic in her movements and voice. “You’re... strange.” He said, quickly, before sitting in a first-class seat. The rest of the seats were taken by mannequins, and all of the ones with heads were looking directly at Asher and Sirius.
“... They cannot stare at us if they don’t have eyes.” Asher said, trying to comfort Sirius with those words. Then, he added, “And if they do have eyes, they’re probably staring because you’re so damn attractive.” Asher was bad at making situations seem better, but he at least tried.
During the duration of the flight, Asher kept standing up and walking around. Eventually, they got served a steak with broccoli as dinner, which caused him to sit back down. “I don’t know whether I would like to eat this or not...” He stated, looking uncertain.
He stabbed the steak with his fork. “I’m too hungry to refuse it,” Asher admitted as he began cutting into the meat. He ate a piece of it, before turning to Sirius. “I believe it’s safe to eat.”
Asher blushed. “It’s a habit. My mom used to do it to my father whenever he cooked, and I guess it caught on.” He looked both sad and happy at the same time, but his expression soon returned to his normal angry face.
“Ah, we only have half an hour before we land.” Asher said, noticing the time. At that moment, he glanced over Sirius’s shoulder to see one of the mannequins was facing the window. “Sirius, was she always looking at the window?” Asher asked, looking concerned.
He headed over to the mannequin and stared at it, then grabbed its chin and pulled its head to face him. “I appreciate that you adverted your gaze, but miss, I would rather you stare at us instead of the window.” He looked down into the mannequin’s lap, noticing a pink bunny mask in its hand.
He reached to pick up the bunny mask, feeling his fingertips graze against the smooth porcelain. “I feel as if I’ve seen this thing before.” He said, looking back at Sirius as he placed the mask back down into the mannequin’s lap.
“We’re landing only to fly back up. My head’ll feel like it’s about to explode by the time we’re done with this trip,” He said, narrowing his eyes. Then he smirked, “but at least I’ll be with you.”
